  1. Thanks for the advice; I guess I've been too worried about letting good ones fall through the cracks.
  2. 3CD AAR for 10/10 - 10/14: No idea how many were added, as we are still trying to sort out the 9/14 - 9/18 influx. I was not able to be on most of this cycle - and have received no feedback from my fellow squad members. Did manage to get the name of a player for an inbound trade, and added a few full-time members to the roster. I have found that sorting process is slow because even with 1000 new members - I only manage to see 10 - 15 over the course of a given session (the overall group is not logging in during the same days/times altogether). Assuming a perfect rate of engagement - sorting out the 1000 is going to take 100 days overall minimum (assuming I see a full set of new players every day - which doesn't happen) - and we're only into our 30th day +/- with the first batch. As a result, I would like 3CD taken out of the rotation until we can whittle down the ones we already have on the books. I also need to use that time to contact my fellow troops and see if we can get a better engagement from the staff members. I would like to request we still maintain the trainer tools access so we can facilitate that work. The goal here is to get the roster caught up and get better engagement from our staff so we can be returned to the rotation - if that is acceptable to you? Thanks,
  3. I need to review those videos again myself...
  4. The more the merrier! (not to mention more time between rotations to recover!!)
  5. 'Hummingbird meet fire hose'. That about sums it up. Otherwise - we did as well as I expected.
  6. We acquired about 800 new players on our roster - putting us over 1000 total. We were able to get 1 player to use Teamspeak, and worked directly with 3 to 5 players in game more than once over several days (players active beyond first day). We communicated through chat with 20 or so players during the time - while the majority of players were unresponsive. On the final day started culling process - managed to trade 3 players to Axis side. This will continue for some time I can see now. I will say of the ones that we were able to engage expressed gratitude for the effort to engage them. There was a bit of frustration due to training tutorial issues - and I'm sure we will get more questions as time goes on that we can work through. Given that the next rotation is 1 month out - I think we'll probably have touched base with everyone by then and will be ready to have another go at it. Unbelievable how many people are entering the game...I'm bowled over. S!
  7. Glad to be here - just finishing up our first rotation... Insanity. I'm not sure of the total numbers - but we are estimating 800 new players... It is going to take weeks to get everyone oriented after this (e.g. I was able to trade 3 axis players tonight...and I was able to communicate with about 10 successfully - with quite a few AFKs etc. With everyone helping at that rate it will take a minimum of 10 days to go through all the new ones; hope we are finished before the next rotation!).
  8. 3CD checking in.
  9. What everyone said here. I myself don't bother with the tailwheel lock - as I have a control on my throttle controller that I use to control the rudder as I roll out. That being said - it took me a while to learn the nuances of it (it takes a light touch at high speeds, and more heavy hand at low speeds - just like in RL, if you've ever flown a plane before). YMMV. Good luck and happy flying! S!
  10. My girlfriend is a sheep? Perposterous!!:
  11. I've heard the term used in two totally different contexts....so...which do you mean?
  12. I was a TC (Track/Tank Commander) in a previous life... I took what I did IRL - and applied that to my WWIIonline maneuver as well: a. Use your TC unbuttoned view when maneuvering at long range from your target - and scanning for targets well outside combat range. Also good when approaching a major terrain feature - you can have your commander 'peek' over the ridge line/hill to see what's on the other side - without exposing your tank to fire (e.g. turret down - see my bottom signature picture below to see an example of this). Wish game would allow commander to dismount and have a closer look himself...meh. b. Button up when taking fire or within danger close range of enemy (1km from target). c. Only unbutton commander when in active combat to get a brief view of the surrounding area that you can't get from the gunsight alone. I use the 'n' key - to unlock mouse look - and I pan around the area quickly - then button up again immediately. d. I have never had a reason to unbutton my driver in game. You can use the periscope to view the road ahead enough to drive effectively. Use your gunner and commander to provide all-around situational view. Leave the driver buttoned up - or you will forget - and be immobilized by a pistol. Whenever I forget these things - I tend to die, quickly. Also - most importantly - your ability to survive will go up if you link up with other armored vehicles - and they can get your back - or you theirs - to avoid the pitfalls. S! And good hunting!
  13. Hopefully the use of live rounds will be curtailed during the reenactment?
  14. Squads in Battleground Europe are equivalent to 'clans', 'guilds' etc in other games. There are features in the game that makes being in a squad advantageous - such as being able to find action quicker by joining up with your squad mates (if you are in a squad - go to the squad tab - select a person from the list on the left, then click the 'join' button in their summary information on the right), and being able to recognize your 'squadies' - even if you've never met before via their squad tag. Another advantage is having someone to help you learn the ins and outs of the game faster; having done it alone in the beginning myself, I know how frustrating that can be. If you are looking for an Allied squad - my squad, 3CD is looking for new members. We are a squad that has been around at least 10 years and counting - with a long history in the game. IM me (/m malus [in text chat]) in game - and we can get you started. I hope you enjoy BE - WWIIonline - as much as I have. S! (Salute!)
  15. Ahwulf - The sound problem was my foobar -- the cable I was using to plug my speakers into the mac was shorted, so it was only providing monaural output - which means sounds were 90 degrees off kilter (e.g. the sound would only go up and down in volume - so when I was sidways to the sound, it would be loudest - thus I thought it was ahead or behind me. I fixed that and sound is normal for me now. Call off the wolves!
  16. We just got in a full compliment of retrofit kits for our sheep: Only available at http://wwiionline.3cdgamers.com

Battleground Europe was loaded from the 'Full Install' download of the latest Mac version. Bugs Found: Infantry bugs - 1. When reloading Rifles view is obscured (British) or partially obscured (French); when partially obscured I can see the right hand holding the disassembled bolt vertically. 2. When using the LMG (French or British) the deployed point of view most times shifts to the right (e.g. you can't see the aim-point or sights - obscured by the Magazine). This got me killed a few times. 3. When prone, the Pistol was not able to be raised to the aim point; you could fire - and the bullet would go where it was supposed to go - but no visual of your hand holding the pistol so you could aim the shot. This also got me killed a few times. Map bugs - 1. Right clicking on map is slow or doesn't respond at times. 2. Map locking on a point you choose doesn't stay locked after you close the map and reopen it. General bugs - 1. Random lock-ups/CTDs - at random times the game will lock up; sometimes it will simply crash and exit, other times it will lock up hard requiring a reboot of the system to get back control of the system. During the lock-up no controls will respond at all. This usually happens during a heated battle where there is a lot of graphical things happening during the same time that I am doing a lot of things - e.g. running, looking left/right, reloading dropping behind cover, and firing in quick succession. This also happens when I switch to desktop (apple-H) or other switching commands. 2. Directional sound is weird - when I turn left or right to direction of sound, I can't hear the sounds. Also I can't orient on distant sounds (they sound equally like they are behind me and in front of me regardless of whether I face 'forward' or 'backwards' - and due to the left or right drop out mentioned above - I can't orient on noises correctly, as I was able to do when I was using the Windows version of the game (e.g. - turn to one side to determine which direction sound is coming from). 3. Console log shows the following consistently on startup of WW2OL: WW2OL Started ReferenceError: onpersonas is not defined Warning: cannot find texture file [vehicles/decals/personal/5.dds] I don't see anything else unusual in the log - even after a crash...just shows: WW2OL Quit The crash log shows no entries for any of the CTDs I've exprienced with WW2OL.
