  1. Was wondering what had happened. Havent played in a long time. Registered on new site. Hopefully some time soon will be back. Keep paying subs every month even though not playing so hope rats get stuff going again.
  2. Yes inf detail. I was getting down to 18 fps in town with a decent enough rig (inc a 570GTX)/ Inf detail was the one thing that made a huge difference to me. Either way the game doesnt push the graphics card too much so high end cards dont seem to give much benefit (I went from a 260GTX to a 570 - never saw much benefit except bino into trees maybe). CPU seems to be the one. See how you get on.
  3. OK just bought a new SSD as mine was low on space so got a nice new Vertex4 512GB - happy. Thought might as well install windows 8 on it so had to do a clean install as no room on primary C drive. Installed a breeze. Now got my windows 7 SSD on a USB caddy. HOW can I get it to migrate all the settings and programs etc to the new SSD ? Can it be done. Microsoft bang on about the easy transfer etc and the upgrade in place. Is it as easy. On a mac I just point the migration assistant to the old drive and it does everything. Not finding this as easy as Ithought they had made it. I would like apps and data to be moved. Ideas welcome as bit of googling didnt find the exact answer I was looking for.
  4. Never mind doesnt realyl do it. I was goin gfrom a 128GB SSD to a 512SSD so just used ease US - It made a sector copy and thats it done. Then expanded partition with partition magic then installed windows 8 in place. Sorted now./
  5. I spent ages trying to get better FPS and it was detail that made a huge difference. I doubled my FPS by turning it down a bit in the settings.
  6. Havent played for a few weeks. Go to boot up - playgate launces ok - select server - Game loads up - Nearly and just quits out before fully loading. Havent touched PC for a while so no changes. Ay Ideas.
  7. Never mind. Corrupt WW2 file. Replaced it with backup - it works fine.
  8. Ok in the past I'm the one answering these sort of post but like my BE gaming (and all gaming) I've sort of stopped and may not be fully up to date. I thought I understood which was which and which was best but maybe I dont so looking for advice. Thinking of upgrading as I have a old first gen I7 920 CPU at 2.7ghz. I have a vertex 3 ssd and. 570gtx so all I need is a mobo and CPU really Not too bothered about cost but not spending $1000 on a CPU just want a decent one and best suited . Is it ivy bride socket or the 2011 socket. I want future proof so usb3 and maybe pcie 3 which is socket 2011 but are they they right processors Also have a asus sound card pcie. Worth changing nowadays ? Thanks
  9. When is the next CPU range due ? End of year ? Next year ? - Ahh found it new architecture next year prob June I may wait then
  10. Really ??? It's over 3 years old and 4 iterations of the I7 behind. So are you saying there is little difference between the very first I7 and the latest I7s I thought there was a big difference and there is. Just seeing which one is best value. Don't really overlock as don't need to but was interested in the new stuff as I wasn't sure.
  11. Well yes it's not really for this game just like having a pretty modern system. I don't play that much anymore butmid like to know what is the best route to go in terms of socket types
  12. 10PM pacific ? So midnight central time ?? Or do you mean 10AM, 12PM, 1PM ? Would be 7AM here so little chance but 7PM could be more likely
  13. Possibly a bit late for me but will post on squad forums noes b2k beats me to it. Email you have for me good.
  14. R and U to backup b2k
  15. Well that was quick. I've been through most settings - turning down number of corpses, durantion, shadows, anti aliasing, locking this and that - doing all sorts with about 1 - 4 fps difference. FIXED it. In infantry - ingame settings. Turning Level of detail down made massive difference. 15 FPS became 50 in a very busy town.
  16. Yes really struggling here also. Going to go through settings but I feel I've got a reasonable setup - The CPU is the weakest part and perhaps what is dragging me down. Getting 11 - 20 fps in town. Looking away from action get 130 + and probably hundreds in the open I7 920 GTX 570 Windows 7 64 Bit Bag loads of fast ram SSD I'll see what I can find to make the game playable with a average CPU setup but went through this last patch after lots of advise to get it over 25 fps - and failed.
  17. For other games the 6950 will be fine. For this game it will not get utilised much. I went from a GTX260 to a Nvidia 570OC. My frame rates pretty much stayed the same. (I do get higher benchmark figures for trees and what have you). In game the FPS is about the same in a busy town and even a touch lower if anything at times. The 570 is a great option if you go Nvidia but don;t spend a fortune on graphics for this game. CPU is certainly king for FPS on BE
  18. Thats normal. I "upgraded" to a 570 OC and SSD and it's probably worse if anything than my gtx260. It's all about the CPU (I'be only got an older I7 lol) If I overclock it then FPS goes up in direct correlation to percentage increase. I've given up trying to make this playable in large towns when busy and I'm not putting it onto lowest detail.
  19. Personally I would go for the 570 on a price / performance thing. It's nvidia which I've tended to prefer for several years now. The 570 really does pack a great punch. Be very aware though it will be utterly wasted on this game. I found that stepping from a 260GTX to a 570 made no difference at all to FPS while playing. Yes it helps on some benchmarks etc and the trees test but in game it actually feels a bit worse if anything or the same once in town in fights. For other games though the 570 would be a brilliant choice. If you only play this game save your money and put towards a new CPU or wait for the new cpu line to come out this autumn.
  20. CPU is king for FPS after a point with GPU. I have a I7 getting around 20 - 30 in town (hundreds out in open). New GPU actually seemed to make my fps worse !. Had a 260GTX and that wasn't getting pushed fully (normally about 40% average) GTX 570 not getting touched at all. I would say go for CPU improvements first. Looking forward changing the card will help even a step up to a 260 if you can get one cheap (I sold mine on ebay for £50 fully boxed and ok). CPU will give you more FPS - simple as that.
  21. All I can say is wow - Pretty good FPS for a X2 I'm running an early I7 920 at 2.93 ghz stock. In town gettign 20 - 30 tops. When quiet I can get hundreds obviosuly. Clean install on SSD with GTX 570 overclocked. GPU not getting touched. CPU is the king so a new I7 should do much better. I'm now waiting for the 2011 socket end of this year for next upgrade since the 570 was a complete waste for this game and actually seemed to reduce / not improve my fps from an older card. CPU is key.
  22. Thanks Mad, Yes I tried the core affinity lock last night. I am running the same board and NIC as before with same OS so it's an odd one. Good poit though. I did used to run static IP and differing DNS - my ping is ok but I'll set this again, make sure I've got the latest etherent drivers etc. Worth looking at. Went into couvin (after a miserable 17 in brussels earleir) and even with a fair few enemy I was gettign 34 - 80 in town so was pretty good. Flying gets me generally around 60 - 80 all the time but haven't tried over a huge town like antwerp. Apart from the issues I have here I tell you waht this 570 really does knock out some good performance. Pretty impressed.
  23. Well I'm almost at the give up stage. I've goen through checked bios, run my SSD tests and gettign 260MB against my old 70MB. Updated, tested my vid card, drivers, bios, chipset etc. In busy towns I'm getting 17 - 25. For the first time I'm just holding my hands up thinking maybe ww2 just doesn't like higher end nvidia cards ? Never really struggled so much before. I think my 9800 was as quick on an older processor - maybe will look for a new game to test see how it performs there as right now I only have this game installed. I've taken off and puton every nvidia setting and the fps stayed pretty stable. i.e no real difference was made with most of them. If I get 150 offline looking at trees I dont know how it can grind to a slog so much and why on the same rig is it slower than a sata 2 with gtx 260. Myabe I'll try game settigns but quite frankly with this setup I should be able to run most things with no issues. I've already turned off all smoke and reflections. Off to sulk
  24. Well I've got a new 570 Superclocked evga initially after following your settings for the 460 my fps was much better in a test town 5 mins apart. Tonight been at andenne - pretty busy with plenty of enemy over the river to the south. I was gettign 17 - 26 fps which is horrible. I've only got an I7 920 but my gtx 260 never really got as bad as that and was always in the low 20's when busy. Any ideas. I turned off normal maps and battle smoke. Turnign smoke off helpe a little but the fps above was AFTER doing that. I don't care how much is going on I should get more than that. A ncie stable 30 + all the time would be nice. It's a bit laggy as it drops to low 20's and below.
