  2. It was a noble experiment and worth a try. Not all experiments work, though, and sometimes they need to be abandoned. You make the manly choice. I admire it.
  3. At long distance. They render properly when approached. Setting up a new machine on Windows 10 - expect and hope it is a setting issue. Any guidance?
  4. Very sad to hear of my former squaddie's passing. We exchanged multiple kills during what were probably his last few sessions in game. Always the same, muttering to myself "**cking BUCK." He will be missed.
  5. Got a new machine with a Core i5 processor. Runs the game really well, but am having some sort of connection issues. When my kbps out are 1.0 or above, I get FPS of 100+. When it drops below 1.0, FPS drops all the way down to 10-15. Anyone else run into this? Any fixes?

  7. been unable to log on the past two days. After selecting the campaign server, it tries to connect to the game network, then hangs up with a message "timed out connecting to game network." Re-installed the latest patch, which didn't help. Any other ideas?
  8. Have an ATI 4350 on my wife's machine. Game ran flawlessly until I updated to the latest Catalyst driver, at which point I started getting the SmartHeap memory error and regular CTD's. Turning off the FPS HUD display solved tthe problem and it now runs flawlessly. 4GB, Windows 7 32bit. Have an ATI 4850 on my office machine. Ironically, game was unstable until I downloaded the latest Catalyst driver, at which point it started running flawlessly, even with the FPS HUD turned on. 8GB, Windows 7 64bit.

  10. Definitely good news that you're going to be able to dedicate paid time to working on the Mac issues. I really hope 1.30.2 helps with the FPS issue, although the bigger issue continues to be crashes and freezes (which may have the same cause as the FPS issue, I hope!). Its pretty frustrating to have a recent vintage rig and be unable to run a game that my wife's Windows system runs pretty much flawlessly. And no, I don't like the game so much that I'm willing to give her the Mac!
  11. Interesting comment about "2GB or less." Are you saying that with 4GB performance is markedly better? Does this reduce crashes in addition to improving FPS? I've been speculating for the past few days that the lack of playability is a result of the way the software handles (or doesn't handle) memory as Free Memory (via Activity Monitor) drops to virtually zero as soon as you launch. Playing on an iMac with 2.17 Intel processor, 2GB, which is supposedly well inside of System Requirements for the game, but it is basically unplayable most of the time. Anyone getting better results with more memory? Thought I'd ask before increasing to 4GB.
  12. I'm having similar problems to Petzl's - consistent Mac crashes. Sometimes its before I can even spawn, others its after a brief time in world and still others its after a long time in world. The one consistent thing I have noticed is that the problem is MUCH worse in the afternoon (EDT). It runs pretty smoothly until about noon, then steadily decreases until about 4:00pm, at which point it becomes pretty much unplayable.
