  1. Repost of an old thread (with cleaned up formatting): I use the top row number keys to select infantry weapons exclusively. For me, this is more intuitive then using the mouse scroll wheel. I've reassigned keymaps in a way that is easy for me to remember, with as few changes as possible. Default: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 Rifle Rifle Nade Smoke Knife Satchel Ammo Shovel Binos SMG SMG Pistol Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Limited SMG SMG Nade Knife Shovel Binos SMG-2 SMG Pistol Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Gren Gren Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Engineer Rifle Satchel Nade Smoke Knife Wrench Shovel Binos ATR ATR Pistol Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Sapper Pistol HEAT Sathel Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos LMG LMG Pistol Knife Shovel Binos Sniper Rifle Pistol Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Mortarman HE SMK Rifle Knife Shovel Binos Semi Rifle Nade Smoke Knife Ammo Shovel Binos AR (Allied) AR Pistol Knife Shovel Binos AR (Axis) AR Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos AT Soldier Zook Pistol Knife Shovel Binos Airborne Rifle Rifle Nade Smoke Knife HEAT Satchel Ammo Shovel Binos Airborne AR (Axis) AR Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Airborne SMG SMG Pistol Nade Smoke Knife HEAT Ammo Shovel Binos Airborne LMG LMG Pistol Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Airborne ATR ATR Pistol Smoke HEAT Knife Shovel Binos Airborne Sniper Rifle Pistol Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Airborne Mortarman HE SMK Rifle Knife Shovel Binos Modified: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 Rifle Rifle Nade Smoke Knife Satchel Ammo Shovel Binos SMG SMG Pistol Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Limited SMG SMG Nade Knife Shovel Binos SMG-2 SMG Pistol Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Gren Gren Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Engineer Rifle Nade Smoke Knife Satchel Wrench Shovel Binos ATR ATR Pistol Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Sapper Pistol Nade Smoke Knife HEAT Satchel Shovel Binos LMG LMG Pistol Knife Shovel Binos Sniper Rifle Pistol Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Mortarman Rifle HE SMK Knife Shovel Binos Semi Rifle Nade Smoke Knife Ammo Shovel Binos AR (Allied) AR Pistol Knife Shovel Binos AR (Axis) AR Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos AT Soldier Zook Pistol Knife Shovel Binos Airborne Rifle Rifle Nade Smoke Knife HEAT Satchel Ammo Shovel Binos Airborne AR (Axis) AR Nade Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Airborne SMG SMG Pistol Nade Smoke Knife HEAT Ammo Shovel Binos Airborne LMG LMG Pistol Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Airborne ATR ATR Pistol Smoke Knife HEAT Shovel Binos Airborne Sniper Rifle Pistol Smoke Knife Shovel Binos Airborne Mortarman Rifle HE SMK Knife Shovel Binos Add these keymaps in one of two ways. Method 1: Use the in-game keymapper to modify each keymap individually. Including all countries there are a total of 61 modified keymaps. The following screenshots show what to change, green indicates a modified keymap: screenshot one: http://gdurl.com/QfAsk Rifle SMG *no change to keymap Limited SMG SMG-2 *no change to keymap screenshot two: http://gdurl.com/tJ-B Grenadier Engineer ATR Sapper screenshot three: http://gdurl.com/H-uF LMG / AR (Allied) *LMG and BAR use the same keymap Sniper Mortarman Semi screenshot four: http://gdurl.com/FEJo AT Soldier Airborne Rifle Airborne SMG Airborne LMG screenshot five: http://gdurl.com/KLlX Airborne ATR Airborne Sniper Airborne Mortarman AR (Axis) / Airborne AR (Axis) *FG42 and Airborne FG42 use the same keymap Method 2: Install keymaps: Download the zip file [ https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BznLxYpqY8rRYjNMQU5KXzZoRFE ]. Extract the contents to the /cfml directory. Uninstall keymaps: Delete these files from the /cfml directory. *Be careful to delete only these files. Notes: As infantry loadouts are added or changed these keymaps may need to be adjusted. The current major version of Battleground Europe as of this post: 1.35 The download link above should always link the latest keymaps. Additional screenshots or notes, will be in a reply to this thread. Please shout if there are any mistakes. 2. Agree! Two part problem, some towns are just too large for the games' population, except during highpop / primetime. Fun factor, large cities are a dull grind for many of us, regardless of population. I like the idea of splitting up the large cities, although I'm not confident it can easily be implemented. ----- AO Weight mechanism Another thought I've had in the back of my head that might be something the RATS can more easily implement: AO Weight mechanism. As is stand we only have an AO count mechanism, which is tied to numbers in-game. I would really like to see this expanded to consider "AO Weight". Example, low population times with only 1 AO available, and the playerbase (both sides) gets pooped on by AO'ing a large city like Antwerp or whatever. Could work something like this: AO Weight mechanism = large cities cannot be AO'd until the population in-game stays above the threshold for a 2 AO limit (for 30 mins). Once an AO is set this way it stays up until pulled regardless of AO count. So yes, large towns can still have AOs up lowpop if that is the HC's priority. Yet, the act of AO'ing a large town during lowpop times where defense is at a severe disadvantage purely as a tactic to expliot game mechanics goes bye bye. I'd expect this to upset some lowpop players, but, something like this is LONG overdue IMO.
  3. This is a late reply, sorry, haven't been around here for a while. Yes, I've had this happen with my CH HOTAS. Example: After pressing right view on a HAT switch, then releasing, view is still stuck looking right. If memory serves me correctly, pressing and releasing the same view clears it up. And in fact, pressing and releasing any view will likely do the same. I believe the CH HAT positions work in two steps: pressing a HAT activates a view, and the act of releasing is actually like a separate keypress to reset the view. I believe the game misses the release (keypress), because like the OP has stated, this only happens in WWIIOL. A possible fix to this may be to reprogram your HOTAS to use all number pad view keys. Example: program right HAT to the number pad 6 instead of the default behavior (as a HAT switch). This should work because the number pad view keys are a "press and hold", there is no "release". Press and hold keys will keep repeating until released like this: "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww". This could have the adverse affect of typing "666666" in the chat bar, instead of looking right *if* your text chat is open (not sure about this, check it in game). How do I deal with this? I just chaulk it up as an oddity with WWIIOL, and flick a HAT switch if this happens. And yeah, I've crashed a few vehicles due this this too. Disclaimer: I am no expert here, and may in fact have it ALL WRONG. But I think the above is true, or close to it.
  4. Haha .. Glad to hear it worked out for ya. And welcome to the game!
  5. Just a shot in the dark .. try running the install / setup as admin ..
  6. I have CH setup minus the rudder pedals .. For plane trims, I use the tophat on the throttle programmed to the trim keys. They increment by 1% per click. I then add a cfml keymap to also use the arrow keys for a 5% increment per click. Have that posted here in training: http://discussions.battlegroundeurope.com/showthread.php?t=454781 CH.map here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BznLxYpqY8rReTFnd0pyRzJXNWs/view cfml files here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BznLxYpqY8rRN3poS0pWUzZFdjA/view Basically they are a set to use x1 CH.map across all non-inf units in the game. Some of this may not work for you, so best bet is to backup your current cfml directory, then give it a spin ..
