  1. The OT Supreme Council feels you have now met Merlin51's Food, Bacon, Tables & Plywood Metrics under Rule 23 and we are very excited about the new in-game soldier's food and sustenance DLC. You should start working on gas station to bbqhut makeover art. Merlin & Jam have already been assigned to develop the AI Waitress models and personae. There will also be a selection of camo bbq aprons available for character selection. Please see the preliminary reference art below:
  2. STEP BACK: 1. you die less when defending and can improve/magnify your K/D (for those players who play the K/D game) : you also have to physically do less: spawn, find a spot, snipe/kill / defend >> THE REWARD: successful defense // better KD 2. one dies proportionally more when attacking (other than in the case of a barracks/ab camp) hence k/d usually lower; and/but one must do more: drive truck, or a tank or tow atgs, make fms, work way to town - more for players who play the cap a cp/cap a town/move the map game. >>>THE REWARD: cap a town against any determined turtle defense; the attacking side must be: > overpop or overpop at the AO > and/or better organized and/or > faster switchers (in the case of 2AOs) > and/or a bit of all the above what does it all mean? as Jwilly suggests: ask your shrink.
  3. brilliant maps by a brilliant long-timer we like to call 'FIVE'. and yes of course - free and online at the WWIIOL WIki (and other places I'm sure). FIVE's maps, are also the spine of the SNIPER62 & John new web-map.'s_AI_Maps for some really old stuff but mostly dead links check out: and/or We old-timers and vets are so old sometime we don't collect all the info in a easy place. or don't let new players know about it enough. Or new players are too lazy. Or all three. See you in Val de Vesle!
  4. They ripped OT off, took the money and bought a derelict property somewhere in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where Gaspipe, Jwilly and SaraToga are starting their new Concrete Kayak and Coffin Co. Thought you saw the note they left us in OT. They stole all the OT plywood too. Think Styopa and MikeAZ are up there hunting for them now.
  5. congrats and thanks
  6. We made most of our money by selling our new OT Downloadable Compilation Guide & Tip Book: "OT's Secrets on How To Win at 1.36" by Parasit & Potthead.
  7. After the required internal hearings of the Higher OT Committee of Cool Infantry Models, these proposals have been approved and Merlin51 has received full funding to go ahead with the new character designs tout de suite. Please note these new custom personas will only be available through the new OT DLC Payment System (5$OT payable directly to Merlin, Silky or Gaspipe). For an additional 1$OT the knives modelled above will be able to be thrown at opposing infantry. Please see below for initial progress art of the new personae.
  8. Umm. We thought you, as an honourary member of the OT Supreme Council were going to be heading up the new Italian/North African map expansion. We're still waiting to get more money to send you to Sicily and Rome to work on it.
  9. We do acknowledge gratefully your contribution to the OT takeover - that is why all Allied airborne parachuting dog units will be issued DLC Gas Masks and henceforth be known as 'The Matamor'.
  10. Motorcycle Art is done, OT Programmers are now working on motorcycle polycount and damage models. Expect to see Motorcycles introduced in patch OT 1.36.1 and after that, motorcycle sidecars with mounted LMGs which will be hip-fire capable for the sidecar player. Axis will be getting the Puch800 model, Allies the French/Belgian FM-M12 and British Norton 16H and American units the Cushman Airborne Motor Scooter. (pictured below).
  11. many new/steam/ftp players automatically choose to spawn on the mission with the most players/fullest bar/top of the Active Battles tab. this is often contradictory as some of these missions are DFMS out of town, or fb busts, or fb defense or have a certain target/goal so these players end up at a bridge not knowing its a repair mission, or at a fb bust in the middle of nowhere. once the trickle starts the bar fills up, the mission moves higher on the list and even more ppl spawn. SUGGESTION: > minimum ui fix > currently missions to fb just say town name - if target is FB let it say 'Lokeren FB' or something indicative >maximum ui fix > allow MLS to short form describe their mission in 10/20/48 characters > ie (origin) Dendermonde AB // (target) Lokeren FB Bust or more appropriate, colourful descriptions - such as - SW ZOC ATG GUN LINE MISSION or SUPER SECRET SNEAKY CAP THE SPAWN MISSION or IF you DON"T HAVE A SATCHEL CHARGE DONT SPAWN HERE ALSO WHY? > do not players, including many vets, not read mission orders either (i) at the top of the screen in big green letters if a ML puts orders up and/or (ii) if a ML does write orders these can be read on the 'mission briefing screen' lower left BEFORE one spawns in - or chooses not to if the orders dont suit the players intent > these written Mission Orders could/should also be made much more prominent either on the mission briefing screen, or the spawn in top of game screen text or both
  12. Remove Towns, then AOs, then FBs and go to area capture using the AWS grid blocks. Or easier, just remove players.
  13. 1. get rid of all fbs 2. or allow ews on fbs just like on towns and AWS, which is sort of what .own is 3. get rid of all fbs and create ppo fbs 4. leave all fbs up all the time and make them indestructible while crs codes ppo fbs Pick one.
  14. +10/ this topic does not deserve the rage. it should be in OT. We have 8 or 9 different Side Channels there, depending on your side.
  15. taberwit d'hostie! Check-toi donc les agasses pissettes a' Vaudreuil. allez les glorieux.
  16. I don't mean to be indelicate - but you guyz in this thread (and many others) are bunch of whining, no-memory, no-perspective, self-absorbed, my-one-experience-today-is-the-whole-experience nattering nabobs of negativity. The map is static for 3/4 days whaaah. It was static for 3 weeks solid during the massively overpop steam launch time (and it was fun - remember Henning's Great Wall of Ciney - remember Pville changing hands 3 times in the same day? ) And it was totally static when I first logged in in 2002 for a month except someone capped Hellevoetius. Allies win in 7 days. Whaaa. Fenir's 4 Day War. Whaaa. Axis roll 3 towns in TZ2 whaaa. There's Tootsie Rolls and there's Turtles back & forth all the time. Always were. We all know the game has some issues - who doesn't? We all know the game needs to change and evolve, backwards and forwards. But mostly everyone already knows the game simply needs more players. Get online, and make something happen or at least spawn at one those under-utilized spawnables referenced above. Drop the gloves and fight.
  17. Time to drop the gloves?
  18. good event. the most enjoyable, by far, was seeing so many players on each side. 3 AOs. High pop is when the game truly shines and a lot of regular whines just disappear or seem trivial compared to the overall action. cant help but think that any new/ftp players might have seen the game at its best and might think about subbing. so perhaps longer events and/or events more often to get a pop spike is actually the best way to market the game, show-off the game and get a few more subs at whatever level.
  19. Since the breakup of Antwerp and Brussels into sectors there have been multi-day ongoing battles back and forth, this recent campaign. All that was really required was for either - or in a few cases BOTH - HCs to drop the AOs. At one point there were 2 Axis and 1 Allied AOs up on 3 of the 4 sectors in Brux at the same time. No set up, no fbs required, no fms really needed (though helpful). Just a simple big city mostly inf and light tank battle lasting for hours and eventually 2-3 days overall in Brux. Understand that some people dislike the sectors, other people dislike fighting in big cities - but for some of the newer players I spoke with, they liked it. Just pick a cp/mission, spawn in and there was the fight. Some of them just liked wandering around the city and finding weird places to hide/snipe from. Whatever, there was continuous action. I'm not sure if its good or bad or if anything can be learned from this quite different 'spawn in and fight' example of these two cities, compared with the somewhat more lugubrious current requirements for a 'normal' AO: discussion of AO, driving of trucks, setting of FMS, staking out a ZOC, grouping up to cap, calling for armour, etc. (or in lowpop, driving a truck and dying before setting fms, or setting fms and its camped in 30secs). But these recent big city sector fights felt different to me than the last 15 years and were somewhat reminiscent of the old highpop squad-controlled map sector days, even without big numbers.
  20. Those aren't F2P players mate, those are NOOBs. New players, paying or not, did every single thing you mention since Day1. Take a moment out of your self-absorbed angst and message a noob to teach him/her something or get them in your squad for a session and teach them a lot.
  21. +10 / PPO FBs would be a wonderful thing. check out piska250's thread (here in this forum) for a thought-starter on that, what it and other larger ppos could look like and how it could be built.
  22. this game was designed and created before there were any laws, golden or otherwise, in game design. take a look at any, as you call them, FPS/Combat Sims designed and launched 1999/2001. Oh right, sorry, you can't, they didn't survive.
  23. the best from Propa, as always
  24. +10 / an evolving game should always allow for different changes from the designers/owners and for those changes to be tested live by real players who then feedback to the designers who then drop, adapt or tweak the changes. just stick a big LIVE BETA banner on the website and leave it up for the next few years. young people might think its cool.
