  1. Cool. Guess we have to have a specific name or know the player to arrange this gift? Or is there some weird sort of WWIIOL subscription scholarship or bursary fund somewhere we can contribute to? Or maybe just send all our extra money for subs to Moz and let him decide based on merit? Seriously, how could something like this be arranged via the community? Could be a good idea for us, the players and the game.
  2. You may have missed the official announcement re parachuting dogs, motorcycles and new infantry personae (with pictures) in this thread:
  3. +10/ for volunteers. thank you for your work. for free. -10/ for ftp whiners. former players who whine endlessly. for free. what these forums need is another forum for vets who have unsubbed but come back as FTPs to vent. Call it the 'I left my G/F but won't ever let her forget I left because I keep coming back to my G/F to let her and her friends know why I left not that they really want to know but deep-down I secretly love her but I'm too cheap to take her out to tell her why I didn't really want to leave in the first place because it's actually her fault anyways 'cuz I'm too cool but not cool enough to actually really for real leave my G/F can I tell you again why I left her no like we care' forum.
  4. You need to consider changing your name soon to A/STG (Allied StatsGruppen) - its a new axis squad that plays only for stats and k/d - no caps, no defending, no trucks, no fb busts. In fact, if you 'mistakenly' cap a CP you get a warning. Cap two in the same town, you get booted. You could ask dfire about it - he was one of the main leaders on the axis side of STG. If we get enough STG'ers on both sides, soon the game could just be about shooting/killing - no caps at all, no towns changing hands lameness - just stats. Remember: STG 'Maximum Kills - Minimum Risk'. Here's the allied version of the logo above the original Axis StatsGruppen STG mark.
  5. Now you can log in even more because it costs less. Or just log in more as Allieds since they are on a roll and will have more stats.
  6. To play the game, to have fun, hang out with squad and to avoid convoluted threads about the reasons people log in less.
  7. excellent video. but shouldn't you be teaching the children to play cricket whilst they watch the ICC World Cup? which one is you?
  8. Understand. But perhaps, as an interim 'minimum coding' test couldn't one, say, take the current infantry close-support tank models (the smoke ones or any designated medium tank) and without even changing the model, add the ability to: 1. blow up ppos (even using false grenade and/or HE satchel existing code) and; 2. place ppos (the existing ones or limited to just sandbags and emplacements? ) From limited but live observational experience in-game - there do seem to be a number of players who like to build as much as fight - even if its taking a break from the fight. Could literally lead to a new class of DLC called 'builder'. Even. Maybe.
  9. I heard there were nice fantasy things in the pipeline at CRS including actual Rat Soldiers for both Allies & Axis. New planes too. All we have to do is stop complaining.
  10. great ideas. great pix. great info. given some of the variants show above, could they not also be used to build or reinforce emplacements/berms/sandbags/dirt walls?
  11. I got a lot of answers to questions about this that seem to work in game - thread is in General Discussions - link below:
  12. humour, spelt correctly, is always the best. basically, we just need more timezones, or put daylight savings into effect in tz3 and call it tz4.
  13. cut some slack. the game mechanics are the game mechanics, to be played and gamed till changed. let us remember the '6 yeaaaarrrs' of split Brit/French town capping/ab owning allied handicap back when.
  14. happens a lot with afk 2nd accounts, especially if run on the same machine. exaggerated and even worse if in city, big city and/or heavy pop AO/DO. but, used to be way worse before the netcode thing they fixed or switched. no clue what, if anything could fix it.
  15. nah moz. nice try; but the fbs got busted, your attack called off and the fb linked towns are now axis - both wettern and lokeren. only running in a straight line because no one was there to defend until you popped - so at least you wuz checking - until you left, which is odd - we just came back and blew them. you can't play half a game, crow about it and win. you gotta stick around mate, or call for help if you want to hold fbs. or towns, for that matter. No wish to be indelicate, but the small game is for small thinkers. we'll trade 4 dead engineers and 2 para sappers for a fail allied attack and two axis towns any night. symptomatic. but its getting too toxic or moxic or rainy or something around here. see you in game. was fun and challenging, as always.
  16. +10/ Night was fun. Hard forests were weird. Just think of it as videogame climate change. You might enjoy the new rain though. WB
  17. guess you haven't played 1.36 much. lot of axis and many allied towns have fallen cuz low supply/no supply. whole point of everybody who wanted garrisons/attrition. only the first time, mate. never been an fb we didn't get. and the engineers are always either paras or backline, never front line. just isn't done, wot?
  18. Sorry you're wrong. Times have changed - supply is lower and more strained - you may have missed most of the current 1.36 game - but paras and glider troops have saved a number of out of supply axis towns this campaign - especially in super tz3 allied over pop spread (usually 2-3 am to 7-8 am) and have turned the tide, or started the tide in the other tzs, especially larger towns getting capped. As noted above - we've also used them to blow critical fbs when out of eng/sapper supply or to interdict supply from allied fbs especially when an ab is capped too soon and the link fbs pop up - in highpop to drop sappers behind allied tank lines on Allied AOs (a common occurrence) - and of course on AOs to either start or supplement any large-ish town with tons of cps/facilities to cap and/or with multiple spread out cps. Last key use from 1.36 is simply to get more automatic/engineer supply to a recently capped town which the Allies have counter-AO'd during the first 10-20 minutes of critical no-low supply trickle. Easier/faster to get new guys on a para/glider plane for a run than convince anyone to go on a 10-15-20 minute truck ride for resupply. Even if its only 3 or 5 smgs/lmgs/engineers/sappers - it makes a difference now. One doesn't wish to be indelicate - but yeah - conceptual limitations, unwillingness to adapt and react quickly and the traditional vet 'I know all this stuff and you're a putz, but where's my equipment audit' mentality seem to be affecting one side more than the other in the new and still evolving paradigm of garrison/low supply 1.36. It kinda shows on the map, ya know? this is a really good idea. especially for new guys. even in the new, limited scope of 1.36, the new guys do respond quickly to the specific requirement use of paras/gliders as Kilemall has outlined.
  19. Thank you Marcion5. I've given my opel license as fake allied ID to VicMorrow.
  20. WB! looking forward to more death from above. not sure on any of the names there, except hmm, maybe joker? others may know more. post up in the Barracks maybe.
  21. I agree with your original post dre - totally understood. Just having a bit of fun with the way threads tend to go wonky from the OP. And totally the Feldjager Karaoke is fabulous and should be rated +100 for squad stats - its a killer.
  22. 1. great point, so we all get to be hc after 21 years? 2. according to you, what was General Washington's k/d - other than 100:1 vs cherry trees? Washington was never a simple soldier: he bought a militia commission in 1752 and was appointed a (colonial) major.
  23. totally wrong. the Canadian Forces snipers with the longest shots and most kills are both Master Corporals. It'll be a few years or more before they make Sergeant and then maybe, just maybe, Warrant Officer. As far as we know, Napoleon had dreadful personal stats other than when he fired grapeshot down the streets of Toulon to kill civilian counter-revolutionaries. Most air aces in both World War kept flying without a raise in rank. In most cases, for officers, smarts > stats. Unless you want to rank officers in game by successful AOs, town caps, cut-off ops, supply, resupply and brigade moves and so on, the current in-game stats are, as another poster blithely put it - an opportunity for some players to pull down their pants and show off whatever it is they think they've got.
  24. you obviously care because you take this stats stuff almost as seriously as STG: 'No Stats - No Squad'. More importantly, does your Squad Squad have a cool logo? How about a motto?
