AEF domination continues we 4 days into new map and we at 3300 kills out of the 18000 total for the whole allied side so we alone account for 20% of all allied kills....recent additions gretnine/weejockey/groundpounder/dfire have jumped onboard the mass murder train....next closest squad on both sides have around 1200 kills so we triple any squad in kills

You need to consider changing your name soon to A/STG  (Allied  StatsGruppen) - its a new axis squad that plays only for stats and k/d - no caps, no defending, no trucks, no fb busts. In fact, if you 'mistakenly' cap a CP you get a warning. Cap two in the same town, you get booted. You could ask dfire about it - he was one of the main leaders on the axis side of STG.

If we get enough STG'ers on both sides, soon the game could just be about shooting/killing - no caps at all, no towns changing hands lameness - just stats.  Remember: STG 'Maximum Kills - Minimum Risk'.

Here's the allied version of the logo above the original Axis StatsGruppen STG mark.  Image result for stg logo

At least it is not 120 + seconds like it was back in the day..

And the cap timers are now much better for when there is 2 or more players capping, so the 20 sec extra SD is probably a counter move to keep the same level of balance before cap timer changes. I have not had a chance to be playing for more than a couple of sorties in the last month or so but from the  forums/webmap the map looked quite stale / stable for a long time until a couple of days after the new faster cap-timers arrived and then map was over within days...

These sort of changes are all trial and error by CRS and sometimes they get it right and spot on (like when MSP life became fortified was increased not to die to one single bullet and needed a few HE charges on it) and sometimes just not as lucky (like when the changes were made to the SMG numbers for both sides and tank numbers etc a few months back)

Also victory tax, if not real should be real and be paid! Victory always brings a multiplier effect for the ToM spent by each player on average (victory in tactical day to day and campaign both). Limited date from the few maps we have shows there is similar number of players for both sides but ToM on the more engaged/winning side is Massively skewed. There should be a balancing force for that.. I don't know what the answer is, but Spawn delay is the most traditional, trialed and tested method that CRS has the most data on probably so no surprise they are pulling the card out of the deck. (albiet not the most creative approach but ey..desperate times, desperate measures!)

the game has lived on for 18 years (HAPPY WWIIONLINEVERSARY BABY!!) and thanks to the constant feedback and attention of CRS it will live of for many many more years and keep giving us the fun hobby we LOVE and are so addicted to that change to it sometimes gives us small withdrawals until we get hooked on the new ways.

    My 2 cents anyways,

It is start of ski season tomorrow here in Queenstown New Zealand, so I probably wont be on as much.  I will be taking my nearly 3 year old daughter for her first snowboarding season! super excited! Our first adventure of the shopping and buying below for you to watch during spawn delays :D we will be visiting Remarkable parks tomorrow and coronet peak the next weekend!

Sure...that's been proposed before, many years ago when Old CRS was thinking about extending the game to marketing-encompass Builders as well as Fighters, and no doubt CRS had already thought of it, but it would take coding which obviously is in short supply.

Understand. But perhaps, as an interim 'minimum coding' test couldn't one, say, take the current infantry close-support tank models (the smoke ones or any designated medium tank) and without even changing the model, add the ability to:

    1. blow up ppos (even using false grenade and/or HE satchel existing code) and;

    2. place ppos (the existing ones or limited to just sandbags and emplacements? )

From limited but live observational experience in-game - there do seem to be a number of players who like to build as much as fight - even if its taking a break from the fight. Could literally lead to a new class of DLC called 'builder'. Even. Maybe.

Fantasy narratives like this is part of why we can't have nice things.

I heard there were nice fantasy things in the pipeline at CRS including actual Rat Soldiers for both Allies & Axis. New planes too.  All we have to do is stop complaining.

humour, spelt correctly, is always the best. basically, we just need more timezones, or put daylight savings into effect in tz3 and call it tz4.

Ewwww ... i never thought of that! I wonder if a afk player isn't visible by some stupid ww2ol glitch? Could it be? Then they come back afk and are visible?

happens a lot with afk 2nd accounts, especially if run on the same machine. exaggerated and even worse if in city, big city and/or heavy pop AO/DO. but,  used to be way worse before the netcode thing they fixed or switched.

no clue what, if anything could fix it.

LOL I just busted up 4 or 5 of your FB attempts. Running in a straight line. Every time.

nah moz. nice try; but the fbs got busted, your attack called off and the fb linked towns are now axis - both wettern and lokeren. only running in a straight line because no one was there to defend until you popped - so at least you wuz checking - until you left, which is odd -  we just came back and blew them. you can't play half a game, crow about it and win. you gotta stick around mate, or call for help if you want to hold fbs. or towns, for that matter.  No wish to be indelicate, but the small game is for small thinkers. we'll trade 4 dead engineers and 2 para sappers for a fail allied attack and two axis towns any night. symptomatic.

but its getting too toxic or moxic or rainy or something around here. see you in game. was fun and challenging, as always. S!

I apologize if this was brought up already (can't find the 'search' bar for the forums).  You kids nowadays with your perpetual twilight... when I played back in 2001 nights were... dark (and forests were one big green impassable blob... but I digress).  Couldn't see a damn thing.  Nothing more unnerving than hearing armor setting up on the outskirt of a town you can't do anything about unless you want to stumble around in the dark right on top of a group of enemy infanty setting up for an assault and knowing when the dawn comes it's going to be one big <bleep> show.

    Good times, good times.

+10/ Night was fun. Hard forests were weird. Just think of it as videogame climate change. You might enjoy the new rain though. WB S!

Nope, hardly EVER run out of supply.

guess you haven't played 1.36 much. lot of axis and many allied towns have fallen cuz low supply/no supply. whole point of everybody who wanted garrisons/attrition.

    2 hours ago, Mosizlak said:

Unless it's you and desaix running all the engies in a straight line to an FB and getting mowed down lol.

only the first time, mate. never been an fb we didn't get. and the engineers are always either paras or backline, never front line. just isn't done, wot?

  11. 13 hours ago, Mosizlak said:

Sorry, he's correct. For the time you waste getting paras and flying them to the target, you could have ran 3 FMS and have had them all in the battle already.

Novelty unit, unless you're massively OP, then it doesn't matter.  Do you even play the game? lol

Sorry you're wrong. Times have changed - supply is lower and more strained - you may have missed most of the current 1.36 game -  but paras and glider troops have saved a number of out of supply axis towns this campaign - especially in super tz3 allied over pop spread (usually 2-3 am to 7-8 am) and have turned the tide, or started the tide in the other tzs, especially larger towns getting capped.

As noted above - we've also used them to blow critical fbs when out of eng/sapper supply or to interdict supply from allied fbs especially when an ab is capped too soon and the link fbs pop up - in highpop to drop sappers behind allied tank lines on Allied AOs (a common occurrence) -  and of course on AOs to either start or supplement any large-ish town with tons of cps/facilities to cap and/or with multiple spread out cps.

Last key use from 1.36 is simply to get more automatic/engineer supply to a recently capped town which the Allies have counter-AO'd during the first 10-20 minutes of critical no-low supply trickle. Easier/faster to get new guys on a para/glider plane for a run than convince anyone to go on a 10-15-20 minute truck ride for resupply. Even if its only 3 or 5 smgs/lmgs/engineers/sappers - it makes a difference now.

One doesn't wish to be indelicate - but yeah - conceptual limitations, unwillingness to adapt and react quickly and the traditional vet 'I know all this stuff  and you're a putz, but where's my equipment audit' mentality seem to be affecting one side more than the other in the new and still evolving paradigm of garrison/low supply 1.36.  It kinda shows on the map, ya know?

Paras to CAP 3 times quicker than regular inf, but no faster than min timer allows. More paras = less OP in the AO = more balance and new guys love para missions.

    S! Ian

this is a really good idea. especially for new guys. even in the new, limited scope of 1.36, the new guys do respond quickly to the specific requirement use of paras/gliders as Kilemall has outlined.

S! All! Well after a massive hiatus, Im back! Its been a long time since 2005, a short jaunt in 2012 and after a few emails its lured me back in. Currently downloading. I didnt bother with a freebie, the best part about this game is the ability to retain your status from previous years so Im unsure why anyone would want to go through all that again.
Looking forward to catching up with the oldies. I might even get back amongst the 101st Airborne.
Anyone know if Gunnie, Knight31, Joker, Bart and Bigmex73 is till around?

WB! S! looking forward to more death from above. not sure on any of the names there, except hmm, maybe joker?  others may know more. post up in the Barracks maybe.

I would say there is a huge difference between logging in less then normal due to something CRS did with the last patch (and it's not the game play )  but still paying premium sub , compared to quitting and going F2P, but still coming into the forums to complain.

Also it's getting nicer outside, so one has more things to do when it's still light out at 8pm.  One has other hobbies and things to do around the house.  Add into that, that one's work day starts at 4am it makes it easier to see why it is harder to log into a game, Saturday to Monday different story if one has no plans for said off days.

Sure one could just not log in anymore , unsub and go bye bye the silent way and not give any feed back.

I don't think my post was a [censored] nor fix this or I will unsub post. But just to inform why one and maybe others are less inclined of logging in simply due to a UI feature that really worked before 1.36 but now is rather a mess in my opinion.

And yes our Squad Karaoke is a thing of beauty as Nily has pointed out.

I agree with your original post dre - totally understood. Just having a bit of fun with the way threads tend to go wonky from the OP. And totally the Feldjager Karaoke is fabulous and should be rated +100 for squad stats - its a killer. S!

George Washington is a good example. Simple soldier in 1754. He was ranked General in the US Revolutionary army in 1775.

    1.  great point, so we all get to be hc after 21 years?
    2.  according to you, what was General Washington's k/d - other than 100:1 vs cherry trees?

Washington was never a simple soldier: he bought a militia commission in 1752 and was appointed a (colonial) major.

In all ages, best soldiers (see stats) were promoted to HC by procuration. I want my FMS ability.

totally wrong. the Canadian Forces snipers with the longest shots and most kills are both Master Corporals. It'll be a few years or more before they make Sergeant and then maybe, just maybe, Warrant Officer. As far as we know, Napoleon had dreadful personal stats other than when he fired grapeshot down the streets of Toulon to kill civilian counter-revolutionaries. Most air aces in both World War kept flying without a raise in rank.

In most cases, for officers, smarts > stats. Unless you want to rank officers in game by successful AOs, town caps, cut-off ops, supply, resupply and brigade moves and so on, the current in-game stats are, as another poster blithely put it - an opportunity for some players to pull down their pants and show off whatever it is they think they've got.

Who cares, Squad doesn't show stats until the end of the game, and it shows it by points and kills. Campaign stats should show at the end of campaign and that's it, same with battles per AO.

you obviously care because you take this stats stuff almost as seriously as STG'No Stats - No Squad'. More importantly, does your Squad Squad have a cool logo? How about a motto?

So be it then - If we are down to requiring a system that allows and encourages single man attacks then WW2OL is kind of over anyways. Rather have a functional system in order times than be concerned about being able to maintain 1/2 man mole attacks in any timezone.

the game started with a single man or 3 guys in a truck attacks on any city at anytime anywhere on the map. we're evolving. maybe sideways, but we're evolving.
