  1. One thing I can say for sure, the gun sight on the Allied 25mm AA gun (in game at least) is awesome to use, views are good, zoom view is great and gives "big picture" of target. Now try the Axis 20mm AA gun and you're quickly disappointed. Views are horrible and once "zoomed in" it's like having blinders on IMO. It would be nice to have something "similar" on the Axis 20mm gun. I wasn't around during WW2 nor have I ever sat in a 20mm or 25mm AA gun and looked through the site IRL, so I can't say what they actually looked like.
  2. Being an AA guy myself, I'm thankful to get any addition to the game in the means of AA. That being said, I totally understand why this always becomes a heated topic at times and you get arguments on both sides of the fence. However, the fact still remains, for anyone that has played this game of any amount of time are extremely familiar with two phrases: 1. "hey so & so" you've got a firebug! and 2. Here we go again, "it's Air Quake" Not once have I heard the term "Oh here we go again, it's Flak Quake" I realize from time to time one side or the other camps an AF with some AA guns, but compared to DB7's , Hurri's, Spits and Havoc's completely shutting down and AB or FB with little to no worry about being shot down is insane. Now maybe with the addition of mobile AA, it might help alleviate the problem "some" but after playing WW2 online for yrs and another title similar to WW2 Online for years, the EA have ALL the advantage.
  3. I'm not a big fan, but I must say you are correct in that the "Kamikaze" was a real and honest threat. HOWEVER, go back and watch ANY Kamikaze attack footage and you will find that the Kamikaze attacks were met with horrendous and ungodly amounts of 5"-guns, 40mm and 20mm AA fire. Even if a side were to deploy every single AA gun in inventory (Hypothetical of course) you still wouldn't have enough guns to even begin to defend against said attacks. As far as cooking a nade and sacrificing yourself for the team, I guess it would be ok, but maybe add a small penalty for performing said act, I don't know.
  4. While this is a nifty idea, the problem with this addition is that it's still a SINGLE barrel AA weapon. While it is nice to be mobile, it still has to be parked and possibly deployed which makes it a "sitting duck" and furthermore it is a single barrel gun. Why is it the planes can strafe gun positions with multi-barrel guns on their wings, not to mention dropping bombs all while doing Air Quake maneuvers, yet we can't shoot back with multi-barrel guns (except on boats/ships) If my memory serves me correctly, people have been complaining about Air Quake in WW2 Online for quite some time. (along with the dreaded fire bug)

  6. Hello all, does anyone know if there is a way to change your "In-game" name? Actually I don't want to "change it" just make a couple letters in the name capitalized. Example = maddog to MADdog Any help would be great, thanks
  7. For the Germans, the Ostwind and Whirbelwind come to mind. Just sayin
  8. I would like to add to this thread in hopes to bring more to the current "AA" platforms we (or the lack of) as players have at our disposal (until their depleted) I moved over to this game from playing many years on AH/AH2, although AH lends itself to more of a WW2 combat flight sim than a ground game it does offer some unique variations for the ground war. Although it doesn't really offer a first person shooter element like WW2 online it does have some of the best tank and AA platforms of any MMO. The reason I bring this up and hope that the CR is paying attn is the fact that the AA platforms (mainly 20mm single and 40mm single) guns are nearly useless in this game unless you were to deploy every single one in your inventory to combat EA. Being a big AA guy (my fav to do in the game) there is a major imbalance between what we get to defend with and what the EA can attack with. With the typical scenario that plays out night after night (I dealt with the same issue 4yrs and 2yrs ago when I played) commonly referred to as "Air Quake" There is a few factors that play out here. One, is that the defender only has so many Flak28's or Flak30's to work with. As they get bombed into oblivion (happened twice last night) it is removed from inventory. Now, before someone jumps up and says the same old cliche'd response (I've heard um all) "tow it out of the base" "be a better shot" "hide it in the trees" and so on, save your breath. Most don't realize that to have a effective Flak battery (one thing the Germans did really well) realistically you need 5-6 guns per every one EA. Now, I know what you're going to say "my buddy and I setup and shoot down every plane that flies over) well, maybe (a BIG maybe) you do that, not saying it can't be done. However, that's like hitting a running EI in a field at 500 yrds, can you? maybe, very often, hell no. Another big issue with attempting to be an AA gunner, is there is practically no way to protect it. Any EI running by can simply pull out a pistol or rifle and shoot the crew and boom, your done. I guess you could request 20 soldiers surround your gun and keep it safe, but in reality this would never take place. This brings me to what was recently post by CR that they are trying to apply and maintain "balance" within the game. I realize there are a few trade offs that have to be applied because this is after all a game and not real life. What I'm trying to propose is a balance between trying to defend your base against an onslaught of EA that seem to have never ending bombs under their wings and the lowly AA trying to defend against it. If CR can make bunkers only destroyable by satchel charges and the like, then maybe have that the AA platforms can on;y be taken out by bombs, tank shell or grenades. It takes one or two EI to camp out near the AB and just shoot the crew of an AA gun once they spawn in. Meanwhile the Havoc's, DB7's , Hurri's and Blens are bombing the AB into oblivion. I would really like to know why we don't have multi-barreled AA guns (Dual & quad mounts) ? In AH (I know it's a diff game) they had the M16 and the German Whirbelwind, along with the Ostwind. Also at the airfields they had manable AA guns. It just seems to me that there should be a better balance for defending against EA and the Air Quake scenario that seems to always play out. Let the rants begin
