  1. So I filled out the survey, but I wasn't sure at the time if I'd be re-subbing. In the end, I'll not be re-subbing. Turns out my one good tanking experience was an anomaly. 1). Armor itself is scarce. So if I want to play the type of game I enjoy, I must endure a clickfest of searching brigades for a lone piece of armor. 2). When I do find armor, there seems to be little, if any support. It's hit and miss whether ET are marked. If the ET moves, again rare that its direction is reported. 3). Intel is often flat out wrong. OIC's will urge tanks to rush the town, when in fact the town isn't safe and you get decimated...and then OIC's will complain when tanks hold back because tankers don't trust the reports. 4). and did I mention the scarcity? So when the above happens and you loose a tank...time wasted. Yeah, I know some players hate armor, and my complaints will fall on deaf ears. That's fine. Just relating to the powers that be why I'm not re-subbing. And since I don't believe in complaining without solutions, here's a few: 1). There needs to be incentivized support for armor...either through the HC program, or within the average grunt. 2). Better OIC training for organizing attacks. 3). More opportunities for infantry and tankers to coordinate offline, or on training, so that they can work better together. 4). If a tanker makes a mission, allow infantry that join the mission in support to receive bonus kill points or xp or some such. Said tanker can then restrict players from joining, or kick them, if they prove not to be a team player. 5). And finally this is an old suggestion but having a separate armor ranking system that will weed out fly-by night one-off users. I mean, this exists in the AF and the Navy. High time this happens for Armor. and as a final positive note, finally getting the anti-tank 'zookas was awesome. Funny how I don't mind dying to them at all, whereas the sapper was just annoying. There you have it.
  2. oops...it was Beurges, not Ardres...spent most of the night in Ardres trying to take it and moved to west for a break. Anyway, sentiment still applies.
  3. I had a blast last night...in fact one of the more memorable fights I've had in WWIIO. Allies assaulting Ardres. Armor supporting each other, infantry moving through town in a perceptible line, house to house. A wonderful combined arms experience. Germans were tenacious. Unlike the post above me, however, I feel that quite a bit has changed in the game, and I find myself confused at times (I'm pre-fru, pre-rag-doll player). I think the game looks markedly better and runs smoothly on my rig...which is just a Best Buy special for the most part.
  4. That is why I perceived the video to be toward the end of the fight (though KFS1 says near the start middle). Somewhere during the fight, we were out of armor, so the AAA were employed to cover the bridge crossing
  5. Trust me, they were there. That is actually the tail end of the fight, as I recall. Most of Allied armor had been wiped earlier by the well entrenched Axis armor, and stuka/111 bombing... I managed to get out of the AB with a b1 Bis at one point, took out a 38t, and then was promptly sapped even though 50+ friendly ei were around me. All the while I kept wondering where the heck was OUR air support. As we can see in the clip, Allied air was there but invisible to me.
  6. Media player says I don't have the correct codec? What codec does the movie use?? Edit: nvm, found it.
  7. Roermond was an amazing battle. Simply amazing. One of the best yet I've been in this campaign (and I say that as an Allied having lost the town ). Someone else suggested this elsewhere, but more large cities broken up like RW/R might make them more fun to play in..I don't know though. It might just be the combination of terrain, city layouts, along with the divided city that make it such a blast. Larger cities might just turn into more of a moling nightmare than they already are (to me at least). /downloading now.
  8. So after further investigation, I've re-installed the latest Matrox vid drivers, and now the game won't even begin to load. If I revert to last driver, then I'm able to repeat the failure at "initializing objects" again. Seems like something funky with Matrox Parhelia vid card. Still won't load in offline mode. What does appear to happen is that the game tries to adjust my screen resolution. By chance I had a browser window open on my primary screen, and after attempting to launch, the browser expanded into my secondary screen as though the screen resolution had changed. I've tried adjusting my primary screen resolution to match that selected for the game. No dice. Does any of this give some one an idea why it's not working on this computer? (re-installed the game btw from the latest .exe on download page)
  9. Thanks guys for your work on this. Also wanted to add this bit: Often when I check ping, the following points return times in the 3000 to 9000 ms range. Test 4: Main PingPri -OK- Test 5: Main PingAlt -OK- Test 6: Main Chat -OK- Connection tests completed OK
  10. Heh, sorry for mixing sneaker tech speak with digital speak . Toofless has it right. I downloaded it and installed it on this second computer. I will investigate my settings. Thanks guys.
  11. Thanks gnasche for the response. Tried in offline mode and it still quits loading at the same instant, namely "Initializing objects." Not sure about the second card. I have dual monitors set up running at different resolutions for work that I do. Hmmm, I guess I'll have to putz around with it some more.
