  1. Don't use a mouse/keyboard to fly. From my experience, it's not worth the effort. You might be able to lift off, but forget about actual air combat, you're toast. Invest in a joystick, unless you're not particularily keen on flying. Tanks, and other vehicles can be easily operated by keyboard only, and in my experience, keyboard can exceed the capabilities of a joystick when operating vehicles. But this does not pertain to aircraft.
  2. You using 2, or 3? Cause its not working for three, unless the address has changed.
  3. So that would mean it's better to rely on the RealTek HD audio then? Thanks.
  4. No, I don't think you can intermix them. Please take a look at the diagram (http://www.ferra.ru/images/141/141084.gif). I also read it was not recommended to try to squeeze a card designated for x1 (you can tell the size difference) into a x16 slot.
  5. Salute, I just recently got my new i7 setup, and along with that a new ASUS motherboard. It has onboard RealTek HD audio. I was expecting to transfer my X-Fi Titanium card into it, but discovered this motherboard has no PCI express x1 slots, and that's what the titanium was. I have an older X-FI XtremeMusic card I'm considering putting it. Would it be better to use the onboard RealTek, or install the older X-FI XtremeMusic? Please advise, thanks!

  7. I agree, that setup wouldn't be best for me at all.
  8. I don't get to play much, but I'm hoping to make time over the winter since I can't ride my sportsbike anymore, and it'll be cold, so I'll be stuck indoors. I haven't really upgraded my core system in a while, since I don't use the computer much more for any other than for browsing. I'm currently running a Pentium 4 3.2, with 4 gigs of ram even though win xp only recognizes 2.87 of it. I have an SB X-fi card, and my video card is a decent GeForce GTX 260. I found an inexpensive barebones kit at tiger direct, that has: (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6892271&CatId=31) that has: * ECS A740GM-M Motherboard * AMD Phenom X3 8400 2.1GHz Processor * Cooler Master CPU Fan 70mm * Crucial 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 Memory * Seagate Barracuda 1TB Low Power Hard Drive * LG GH22NS50B DVD Writer * PowerUp ATX Black Mid-T Case w/ 450w PSU I plan to transfer my HD, soundcard, and video card into the new rig. Will this increase my playability level?
  9. From either Newegg, or Tigerdirect (any other Canadian retailers I'll consider too.) I'm looking for deals. I may need to purchase ram alongside with it, but right now I'm focusing on the motherboard/processor. I have an 8800, and an x-fi titanium. Tigerdirect I like, became they offer the barebones components, which is tower, fans, mobo and processor. Ideally it'd run ww2ol, and arma2 effortlessly.
  10. I'd like to bump this, as this is happening on a much more frequent basis, and I really don't want to revert back to the Xfi-Xtreme music card. Anybody else using a x-fi titanium, 64 sounds, recent driver, and not having problems?
  11. Log off, wait a minute, and log back on.
  12. I have my page file set on 1.5x the amount of ram I have, as both the initial starting amount - and the maximum amount. However, be careful judging your fps based on whatever adjustments you do. You have to be aware that the conditions you've spawned into greatly influence your FPS rates. For example, spawning into a rear-line AF would give you an incredible FPS rate, which would significantly decrease when you're standing in the middle of a front line city, looking at the center of it. Then of course, there is the population numbers which influence your rates. If you're playing at a more active timezone, your rates would be lower than if you're playing in an underpopulated time zone, where there would be less players to render information from.
  13. Thanks for your registry tip, I've never come across that one before - although I'm not sure if it did effectively help, it -seems to have- and if it does what it says it does, it certainly has. Thanks again.
  14. I'm running an xp 32bit (sp2). I have four gigs of ram, but I'm aware only windows recognizes 2.9 of it. When I disable the pagefile, it reduces all performance lag, and occasionally suffers from 'stutters' - when I have pagefile enabled, it suffers from performance lag, and still gets the occasion stutter. Should pagefile be enabled with BE, or disabled in my case?
  15. I recently switched my sound card from an X-FI Xtreme music to a PCI-E X-FI Titanium, because the titanium was supposed to have true hardware acceleration as opposed to the Xtreme music card. However, now when I play, the sounds occasionally begin to cut out. Meaning, I wont hear my footsteps, or my gun fire, but I'll hear other audio sounds that too will kick in, and cut out randomly. I have the newest drivers, and I even tried reverting to the drivers that came with the cd, both of which have had the sounds cut out. I had this problem on the Xtreme, but it was very, very, very seldom, as opposed to the frequency it's happening with the Titanium. I do have onboard sound disabled in the bios - and I've tried running the game with hardware acceleration on full, and not full - the problem still reoccurs. My sound settings are for 64 sounds, although this has happened with 32 sounds, and the 100+ sounds option. This will most often happen when I boot up my second account for towing (on the same pc), although on the Xtreme it rarely happened even when I booted up the second. It generally occurs a few minutes into the session. Suggestions?
