POLL: Better FPS in 127.1?

15 posts in this topic

List your hardware if you find better FPS in 127.1. Note that PPC machines shouldn't have better FPS, as the change (removing opengl feature that actually penalized the game) only helps Intel. However, it doesn't appear to help some Intel boxes, as my early MBP isn't faster. I'm curious to see what hardware has been helped. OSX only of course! Even if you still use bootcamp, give the native version at try and see what you get.

Copy and paste this info from the System Profiler application Hardware and Graphics/Displays sections:

iMac: Intel core2dual 2.16/x1600 (256) OS X 10.4.10

Tested offline in OS X: Avg 19 FPS

Tested online in OS X (in rear area, nobody else around): 12- 16 FPS

Tested offline in Bootcamp, exact same place & conditions: Avg 56 FPS

Tested online in Bootcamp (same rear area, nobody else around): 28- 76 FPS

Used identical settings pretty much except Netcode 2 & SSE enabled in WinXP under Bootcamp.

For me 1.27.1 ran a bit better in OS X but still basically way inferior to what I get in Bootcamp.

On live server do I get not as good FPS as on the training server. But still a very good improvement compare to before v1.27.1.

Approx 40-60FPS out side CP when not looking at CP. At the same time, lots of avatars around.

About 25 FPS when looking into CP from a few hundred meters distance, full attack in commence.

Droping down to some 15 FPS when inside CP when CP is under full attack.

If I said my Quad G5 gives same but more stable (not jumping up and down) FPS performance, would I get "it runs snappier" reaction? :)

Way better fps - no comparison.

This is my home mac. The one I occasionally use at work is with the ATI card - 3ghz 8 core mac pro gives better than my home mac.

MBP

2.16Ghz

1gig RAM

Radeon X1600 (128MB)

1440 x 900 resolution, lowest settings with medium player visibility

Offline:

Pre-1.27.1 (OSX): 10-15 FPS

1.27.1 (OSX): 50-100 FPS

Online:

Pre-1.27.1 (OSX): 5-9 FPS

1.27.1 (OSX): 15-40 FPS

significant improvement on OSX - enough so that i can play on my laptop without bootcamp :D

As for bootcamp, i'm unsure, for some reason windoze is unable to connect to my wireless network now, so i cant DL or play the game on XP.

My computer handles way better on the mac version now however I still have the same bug for bootcamp. I get around 50-150 fps on bootcamped version of ww2 online but when i get near 200 fps the game crash's so I have to avoid looking at the ground and look at places of lag.

Wow, it must truly suck to be you. 200 fps uh?

My turd of a machine did get a slight boost with 127.1 I guess.

I can get 15-18 now in deserted areas. Still 2-5 in fight towns.

Thats why I just hang out in OT and dont play this game anymore.

Once my computer becomes obsolete for other things I will get a new one that can handle this game - sadly, as a professional graphic designer who works with huge graphic files and Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, email, downloading 100 meg ftp files, streaming news video, playing iTunes and running my Filemaker database all at once every day, my lowly iMac will probably last me for years to come it seems - cause it does all of that every day flawlessly - day in and day out - no problems at all.

Guess my machine aint REALLY a turd - just for this game....

iMac G5

PowerPC Gg (3.0)

2 gigs ram

geForce Fx 5200

64 mb Vram

It's clear that its because of your graphics card (which you cannot replace).

On my dual 1.8G5 with X800 I have been getting around 17-19 FPS in medium battles, big battles still suck down to 9 FPS. FBs get me anywhere from 25 to 45 FPS. Flying I get 30-50. If I look up at the sky I get about 69-71 online, and 81 to 91 offline (or with binoc and resolution of 1280X960 I could get 125FPS). Back in 1.24 and 1.25 I couldn't ever get FPS higher than about 40. In places where I used to get 23FPS I now get 34+. I just hope these stutters are fixed and FPS can be improved in battles.

I always play at 1680X1050 resolution with 2XAF and 2XAA (super). I tried every possible combination and this does not reduce my FPS what so ever, not even by 1 either in low stress situations or staring at the densest trees giving me 10FPS.

The video is definitely bad, 128MB is sort of the minimum these days. Otherwise you have hardware similar to my G5 which I have been gamely playing until I started using Leopard on my gen 1 MBP with its lameoid video card. However under Leopard its 2X faster and sometimes more. Not sure if you will see 2X under Leopard given the 64MB card, but it's likely to get better.

Yeah, I hope so. I miss the game - still play out on FB duty every now and then. I really dont need much fps to play, Im used to playing in single digits.

I'm hoping my wife needs to get a new computer for work so I can get a new Intel Mac - but that is yet to be seen :(
