im having the same problem but my sound is only jacked up in game

Yes, this problem is limited to WWIIonline only. I can blast my speakers to music all day long with no crackling or distortion. When in game though if flak is nailing a depot building or tank shelling is going on, my speakers sound like there blown. I almost have to mute my sound during big battles.

Do the RATS read these forums? I would really appreciate some help with this.

Im using an Audigy2 card with the last drivers.

i had an mp3 playing last night, and when i loaded up ww2ol crackling started on the mp3. but when i went from the game menu to the game world, the crackling stopped. My ww2ol music crackles also, so it seems to be a problem with the ww2ol menu

Set your sound ingame to software and retry.

If you are running the 19 dollar audigy2, its not a full hardware card, software mode will probably work better.

Ness, what audio card do you have?

Sounds like you are hearing DMA inturrupts from your HDD controller i believe.

Creative cards used to have this problem on Via chipsets with UDMA enabled.

Could be same thing, or you might have to run the game in software mode also.

One other cause could be if you have a poor quality MIC plugged in

With out going into a stupid long explanation, sometimes MICs and Line input devices will pick up RF noise and feed it right back into the audio card.

Post back with your card type if none of the above helps
