I don't usually crash except in mysterious occasions.

Do a spotlight search for console. When you open it, look at the left tab and look for the "crash reporter" list and all the apps that crash are listed there with the full report.

Use the "Console" app in the "Utilities" folder to browse the logs.

Your crash logs should be dumped to "~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/World War ][ Online_..." but use the "Console" app in the "Utilities" folder to browse them.

Hope that helps.

I have had a few crashes but they are not frequent and seem to be sound related.

Config: G5 2x2, X800, 10.5.2

Actually most of the crashes seem to be in the main event loop but I've never been able to catch it in the act. Still, it's pretty stable for most people. Normally when the app crashes it freezes, then you can get back to the desktop with cmd-option-esc. Generally the crash reporter should be up and let you see the crash log. If the app just quits to the desktop with no warning or crash report, it may be your net connection is dropping, and the app is dropping out as a anti hacker feature. Sometimes you will see a bit in the console log. If the game server goes down the game will also quit immediately.

I think I suffer from the same crashes as you do BigJake. I have sent a couple of crashlogs to Gophur.

I had strange crashes after a certain amount of time in game too.. for me, I found my video card was cooking due to multiple hard drives generating too much heat for the fan system.

I have been having some crashes recently as well. Don't know if this is just my imagination but I think that my fps is lower as well and was wondering if something had changed.

I posted some info about a recent crash below.

Thats the same bug that everyone is getting, but so far I can't catch it myself. FPS is more variable than in the past, its faster in many places but a bit slower when the battle area gets congested. I'm hoping to talk with Gophur this week at Rat HQ, and will drop in on Jaeger to see what else might be fixable.

I get a few crashes too. Generally rebooting seems to cure persistent crashes but for the one offs my hunch is it is something to do with aeroplane sounds as it seems to happen when I hear them. A wild guess which could be way off the mark.

The crash mentioned above (if its the same one) is in the main application, not the sound thread. Of course it might be related, with this code its always possible.

After about a while away I downloaded 1.28.4 this afternoon. I've had a crash to desktop three times since then. I posted one of the crash logs to the GAME TESTING & BUG REPORTS forum. Is there some where else we should post Mac specific crash logs?

Thanks!

post there and here, i bet its the same bug. If you see

Thread 0 Crashed:

It's the same one.

That's further up the stack, thus might be a different bug. Generally the bug I see has it at #3.

That crash isn't from the game, it's something else ->

Path: /Library/StartupItems/IOXpertsDeviceMonitor/ioxdeviced.app/Contents/MacOS/ioxdeviced

I think it's some kind of camera driver. The times of all those wierd entries matches the crash you are showing.

http://www.ioxperts.com/FAQs/faq_industrialcam.html

I guess that's a big DUH on my end. I was too tired when I posted that to notice the IOX prefix... to be honest, I've about had it with Leopard after so many conflicts and anomalies. I get a crash of some kind about half the time I boot up. Checking the Apple forums it seems my case is not unusual. At the moment, I'm formatting a new drive with Tiger, although for me the last truly stable version of OSX was 10.3.9.

Thanks again, ahwulf.

I use Leopard and have 0 problems on my dual G5. I guess it depends on how many special drivers etc you have to use. In my case the last issue was MAudio's Firewire410 which finally has a driver that works after 4 months. Leopard itself is quite stable but there are still a lot of drivers not quite up to date.

Ahwulf, although the crash looks to be in the event loop, I think that it is sound-related. In particular, I think that it might be source-position related. In my recent crashes I have been trying to pay attention to the situation when a crash occurs and it seems that the crashes are occurring when a sound appears directly behind your position. Could there be some arithmetic exception that is not be caught?

Anyway, for me, the crashes always seem to be associated with a new sound source appearing directly behind the observer.

Good luck.

once i catch it in the act, I'll know for sure. If its sound related its in create the sound, since its not in the sound thread itself.

OK -- crashed again. Heres my log. I would think EXC_BAD_ACCESS means

the code has a rogue pointer.
