"Event Time" planning, no more confusion

2 posts in this topic

Time and again players are confused on what time an event is to be held.

From now all event times will be written with

UTC/GMT in bold and anticipated CENTRAL Time (or RAT time).

If you do NOT know if it's Savings time, do NOT write "CST" or "CDT".

If anyone is confused on the US time, refer to the GMT and use any of the dozens of hand time converts out there!

http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_UTC.aspx

Example:

2000 UTC/GMT; 2pm RAT time (US Central)

Note that GMT is the west part of Europe and only includes British Isles, Ireland, Iceland, and Portugal.

Example of How comusing is can get if we dont do this

Mission start was planned for 2pm cSt, but it is now 2pm cDt (would be 3pm cSt!!)

So it's a 5 hour difference with GMT, which makes it 1900 GMT.

Or:

7pm London

8pm Continental Europe

Mission start on the Bomber Realism Event I was planned for 8pm GMT.

08:00:00 p.m. Monday May 12, 2008 in GMT converts to

10:00:00 p.m. Monday May 12, 2008 in Europe/Berlin

Example of How comusing is can get if we dont do this

Mission start was planned for 2pm cSt, but it is now 2pm cDt (would be 3pm cSt!!)

So it's a 5 hour difference with GMT, which makes it 1900 GMT.

Don't confuse Europe/London with GMT.

Slight difference: GMT has no Daylight Saving in effect.
