Well, I fixed it. I did a system restore, then Add/Remove programs, deleted the WWIIonline ... Then started up the game and had quite a patch to download.

I am on Fios and it took me about 25 minutes to download the patch, so if ur Internet is very slow.... dont do it this way and pray someone answers this and gives you the correct way to repair, what I like to call.... The wonderful world of WWII Patches....

The only way that I know how to *fix* the ?authentication failed? error is to uninstall your current version, download and install the full game.

I'm glad someone else has had this problem.

I was playing fine last night but tried to log on this morning and I couldn't get into the game. Decided to do a clean install and deleted my old BE files. Now I can't download the latest version from the CRS website.

Can you run the CheckNet test to rule out your ISP or firewall?

http://wiki.wwiionline.com/index.php/CTHL#CheckNet

I ran checknet and everything's fine.

Test Starting.

Test 1: Auth Pri -OK- 132ms

Test 2: Main Pri -OK- 131ms

Test 3: Main Alt -OK- 128ms

Test 4: Main PingPri -OK- 138ms

Test 5: Main PingAlt -OK- 159ms

Test 6: Main Chat -OK- 177ms

Test 7: Event Pri -OK- 134ms

Test 8: Event Alt -OK- 129ms

Connection tests completed OK.

I've now managed to download and reinstall the game but it's getting silly now.

I get the Playnet box come up, the program launches then crashes. I can't even get it to work offline. I've done two clean installs to fix it to no avail.

All other games and programs work fine, it's just BE. :(

I'm sure my wife's nobbled the game to stop me playing!

Saw the other thread where someone was having probs. I did the run as Admin and it worked.

Why did I buy a PC? And why did I get Vista? I only bought a PC to play this bloody game!

I'll stick with what I know and buy another Mac next time.
