Trees fps problem

96 posts in this topic

celeronD 2.4@3.0 , 1 gig dual channel DDR 400mz, 256 meg 9600 pro

My fps drop to 10 -15 around heavily treed areas, lower when using sights or binocs. I am thinking of updating to an X700 that has twice the fill rate and more vertex shader units for $159

AMD 2500 @1.8

1 gig ram

Nvidia 5700 256 meg

I know not the greatest system, but I use to have decent frames while fighting in towns. Now I get 5 or 6 if I am lucky while zoomed in with binocs or sights for a tank or atg.

GeForce 5500/5700, Radeon 9600 - thats all outdated hardware.

You can't expect good frame rates in any newer games with these.

yes i'm aware of the difference in cards but thats not the point is it!

charts prove nothing when performace you can see on the screen is everything and yes a card that is 6 times SLOWER does run better on cod 2

than ww2online EVER DID :D

Sorry, but I really think that you make false statements.

It's simply not possible that you can run CoD2 with high settings and an Geforce5200 when even a ~four times faster 6600GT barely reaches 30FPS at low quality settings.

Yup, I have to agree.

No way are you getting any kind of playable framerate at highest settings on COd2.

If you are, you should go call all the review sites and tell them they are wrong... because most don't even bother with the 5200 on anything other than low - med detail... if they bother at all.

The 5200 was a waste of money when it was brand new.

It's still a waste of money now.

Oh. And comparing shoebox games like COD with multiplayer games like BE is also silly. It's like comparing Morrowwind and EQ. Both look similar... but one is multiplayer and chugs on lower end systems.

I wonder what the similarity is?

Every MMORPG will have lower FPS than a 'superficially similar looking' shoebox game. It's the nature of the beast.

I've seen maybe one exception to that rule, and that is probably related to player density.

see typical denial response, expected as much.

in fact the performance in FPS is better on the 5200 ultra with COD2

and if i have to fraps record it so be it.

i'll even attach a dxdiag from the 2nd system.

but then of course i'd be only accused of doctoring the data as it does not fit the CRS mould.

all of this is really distracting the point,

what needs to be explained is why so many with different setups are complaining and no amount of well its your hardware spend more dollars on the card the programmer is using ATTITUDE wont wash with the greater community.

oh and i draw attention to the boxed spec requirement..

Required System Specifications (PC)

* Windows XP

* 1.2 GHz CPU (2 GHz Recommended)

* 512 MB of RAM (1GB Recommended)

* 128 MB 3d Video Card (OpenGL v1.2 compliant)

* DirectSound-compatibile Audio Card

* 32X CD-ROM (installation only)

* 56K Modem or with Internet connection

(broadband internet connection recommended)

* 1GB free hard disc space

* DirectX 9.0 or higher

(USB joystick recommended)

ok 1st off twice as much processor power as needed.

i have twice as much videocard power as stated.

so should it read...

* Windows XP in NT COMPAT MODE

* 1.2 GHz CPU (2 GHz Recommended)

* 512 MB of RAM (your wallet Recommended)

* 128 MB 3d Video Card (play the lottery u more chance of winning)

* DirectSound-compatibile Audio Card

* 32X CD-ROM (installation only)

nbrado:

The game has to be designed with a balance between performance and the requirements in graphics.

While we are working on improving the performance of the game, the current complexity and performance demand of the trees can't be reduced because of gameplay reasons.

A very efficient and popular tree renderer called SpeedTree is used for them and there is no practical room for meaningful improvements.

The minimum requirement spec just tells with what kind of hardware you can run the game - with no satisfaction in performance guaranteed.

You get good frame rates with current mid-range hardware (GeForce6600GT, etc.).

It is not possible however to get good results with totally outdated hardware like the GeForce5200.

Here is a comparison of graphics cards which were available one year ago.

The test is made in the even older game 'Farcry'.

I hope it helps you to understand what you can expect from your graphics card.

My system.

amd64 3800

Fx6800gt 128meg

1 gig DDR ram.

My second system

amd XP3000

Fx5900

1 gig DDR

A friends system before his upgrade [before stutter were fixed]

Intel 2.5 gig CPu

ATI 9600pro

1 gig DDR

Another friends PC

AMD64 3000

fx5900xt

1 gig ddr

and another

XP2600

fx5900xt

1 gig DDR

all tweaked. all with proper drivers.

The one with the 9600 pro vid card was barely playable for flying before the stutters were fixed. Was OK on ground. Now upgraded to 6600gt and is running fine, and on decent res.

No noticable issues with trees. Any FPS drop is not apparent.

Only pauses happen when approaching large city areas [antwerp] or large battles for the first time... and happen only once per flight on average.

yep you got that right NOTHING guaranteed.

and its not a gf5200 i'm using on my ww2online system.

im making a comparison that on my 2nd system the 5200 runs COH 2 better

than ww2online.

again you avoid to comment on all the posts with TOP END and LOW END systems with the problem, since the last patch i remind you again.

so what you can expect is a misleading system requirement and refuse to even admit there is a problem.

its looking more and more like, well WE crs use XXX and if you dont tough titty.

anyway i've made my point, crs lose a customer and for those of you LUCKY enough to not have this problem, please enjoy and shoot one for me :P

and get off the 5200 buzz, read the posts properly i dont even play ww2online with the 5200 but on the 2nd system it does in fact run COH2 and does in fact produce double digits. in fact i wish you lived round the corner to come have a cup of tea and witness it yourself.

With what screen resolution are you playing? You should play with 800x600 (1024x768 max).

Make sure you have anisotropic filtering and FSAA in the OpenGL driver settings disabled.

Disable the Post Render Filter in the game settings.

You should get very acceptable frame rates if you consider this.

already done those things to no avail, like i was saying i tried everything possible but as i'm reduced to not being able to play effective I'd rather not play at all.

test4vs.jpg

So there seems to be something wrong on your end if you don't get considerably better frame rates looking at trees using low resolution.

World War Two Online

=====================

Version 1.20.2 (11-09-05)

Global:

-Fixed a grass coloring bug when disabling vertex shaders

-Fixed a despawn infantry CTD

That would be the "last patch" part we don't understand. We ask questions so that we can understand what the real issue is as opposed to just what we are hearing.

I think my problems started before that patch Gophur with 1.20.1. Although I am not really sure. I know that my system is not close to being high end. But when I can get 50 to 60 frames while in the air and then all of a sudden I drop to 5 or 6. I say that there is a problem. I have the same thing while I am on the ground 20 to 30 then a sudden drop while looking though the binos or the scope for tanks and atgs.

hehehe its must be my end of course, ummm NO lol.

see what i mean about other people with the problem.

how about you post a STICKY one day when you actually fixed it and maybe just maybe i'll consider throwing dollars your way for something WORTH it.
