New intel cpu's coming out soon....core i7

2 posts in this topic

There's a few in depth articles out at tomshardware. Apparently intel is including an app in the cpu to lock out overclocking in the lower end cpu's. I guess they're getting sick of people buying the low end cpu's and tuning them to high end performance.. heh. My guess it is will take a hacker about 2 weeks to find a way to remove it and post the results on the internet if it's not out already... lol. They will be a new socket and only support ddr3 memory for now. There's lots of changes. Tri channel ram, an integrated memory controller like AMD, no more northbridge.

The Core i7 is going to leave Intel’s rival AMD lagging even further behind. Put bluntly, you’d need two and a half Phenom X4 processors to compete with Intel’s current Core i7 flagship model.

No doubt you already know that Intel’s Core i7 unofficially launched yesterday—it was unofficial because the company lifted its veil on benchmarks, but won’t be shipping product until later this month.

I hope AMD has something up it's sleeve.
