Possible fix found!

Found this after much digging around and actually finding the reproducible error I was getting (opengl 14)

[clip]

Microsoft is controlling the access to the Vista Hotfix KB 953186 (BETA), so you'll need to click on the "View and request hotfix downloads" link in the upper left corner of the artilcle. Be sure to use Internet Explorer when loading this page in order to be presented with the correct versions of the files for your particular OS (i.e. 32-bit "x86" or 64-bit):

For Vista 64 bit users: (be sure to click show additional information!)

Windows Vista All (Global) x64 sp2 Fix245313 Vista 6000 3177788 10/22/2008 12:26:21 AM

For Vista 32 bit users: (be sure to click show additional information!)

Windows Vista All (Global) x86 sp2 Fix245313 Vista 6000 2529929 10/22/2008 12:25:04 AM

[/clip]

I was getting CTD's from every few mins to hrs..randomly it seemed. After this hotfix (which is getting placed into sp2 for vista) I have had NONE AT ALL ;)

NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARDS

I posted a seperate topic a week or so ago.

If you have updated to the latest drivers do 1 of 2 things (do one not both!):

1. Look in the NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL under the SLI tab and UNCHECK the PHYSX option (set it to off)

2. ROLLBACK to the last set of drivers you were using before the upgrade

(I believe the BETA drivers for the notebook do not set PHYSX to "On")

... I have done this (I did No2) ... It works

;)

Operating System: Windows Vista 32 bits

CPU: Intel DualCore T9400

system RAM: 4GB

Graphics/Video Card: 2*NVIDIA 9800M (SLI)

Video RAM : 512 MB

Are the Drivers up to date? cannot update with nvidia (drivers from nvidia website say video card not supported)

SSE2 or Netcode2 enabled? Happens on either setting

Happen for unit types

* Infantry:yes

* Armor/Trucks:yes

* Aircraft:no

* Ships:no

When i spawn as boat, i don't ctd, but if I use commander view with the best zoom, it ctd immediately.

My laptop got a third card, a 9400M which is used instead of the 9800s when energy is needed, but ctd at spawn occur too with this sole one.

Try under Vista 64 bits or 32 bits

With NT Compatibility mode

Still same probleme

Yes I ctd "lost host".

What's wierd is I get the message comming on line that it could not connect, then it says HOST LOST.

Then I try running the game again, I get the message again, and it loads up.

This is very consistent, each time I do this.

Any ideas?

I run Vista x64 with quad amd processor and nvidia video card, good one.

I recently bought a new computer (thanks to aggressive price offers) and, while transferring data am operating it next to my old machine. Both indicate a network access error, but run OK after pressing "OK". My old computer runs on Windows XP Home (fully updated) using a 256 MB ATI Radeon X850; the game works fine on it. So, the game operates using the AT&T internet connection.

I spawn in on the new computer, start operating inf, but shortly [a minute or 2] later the screen goes black and the game is gone. It uses Win Vista SP1 Home Prem 64,ent,xdt and a 512 MB ATI Radeon HD 4850. It has the new i7-920 processor and they included 6GB DDR3! Overall, it should be running like a demon.

I've turned off anti-aliasing. The Windows firewall is off. I tried turning off the Norton 360 firewall - to no effect, so I merely loosened up restrictions - also to no effect. I recently noticed a message that Display Driver "atikmdag" stopped responding and has successfully recovered. For now I'm just hoping that the new game patch will clear it up if this is a driver problem.

However, the fact that the game starts working suggests that there is more of a problem than the ATI driver. Dropbear's suggestion is tempting, but due to other computer uses, I'm not anxious to download beta fixes. [Technologically challenged] Any other ideas, or is waiting for the new game-patch the best?

Had the game up and working great last nite and this morning. Game froze around 6:30 CST. Now everytime I try and start the game it starts to go to the BE Load page but crashes my system and I get the blue screen. This has happened 3 times so for.

I have not installed or added any programs since my last session. Getting a prompt that Windows want to send a report as it has recovered from a serious problem!

Games was working great.

Hell game just came up!

Here are some things I did to fix ALL of the issues I had with the new patch:

My OS is Windows XP. So this only refers to XP users as I don't have any knowledge of Windows Vista.

1. Complete removal of Battleground Europe. (Add/Remove programs) Using only the controll panel to remove ALL of Battleground Europe will NOT work. You have to in addition:

A. Remove the folder "CRS" and all of it's components to the recyle bin. Go to ----->my computer--->program files--->CRS.

2. Defragment HD

3. Download and install up-to-date video drivers.

4. Reset virtual memory to "system-managed" and use memory for PROGRAMS, not system cache.

5. Download and install the latest version of Battleground Europe (full install).

6. (May be optional) Set Battleground Europe compatibility for Windows NT.

7. Reboot and try to play the game.

So far I have been playing for several hours (on and off) and I have no problems.

No CTD's or stutters.

Hope this helps.
