Recent Authentication Problem

Bloo and all Rats @ WWII Online,

I have been trying everything, for 2 months now, in these threads to fix the "Lost Connection" problem that has been occuring ever since the new patch was released. With no avail. All suggestions have failed to this point. I been a solid customer since 2004. This is the only time in all those years that I have had this bad a problem. You know it is a new patch problem so why is it taking so long to fix it?

Again, I last for about 5 to 10 minutes online. Then I'm disconnected from the server. Connection Lost / Error # 10057. It's not my ISP or my system. It's a buggy patch.

Please fix so I can continue to kill the Axis.

Alright guys..

this may have been a SNAFU on my side of the ball after all...

McAfee runs automatically for my computer, upon startup. I had to tweak my firewall settings for PLAYGATE, to allow access

lol...

it was being blocked sometimes, and after repeated tries, I was able to connect. It's connecting on every try now. I managed to recreate the situation by going back into McAfee firewall, blocking access, and trying to launch. Got the authentication error message, allowed access, and connected on the next try.

This was it. Now I realize that the problem started after a change to McAfee. This happened even though you tell it to allow access when it pops up. If you go in and manually give PlayGate Full Allow it works fine.

I have the same problem. I got a new system with 64bit vista. The game played when I first got the PC but after about 3 weeks I could no longer log in.

I have downloaded the full version and playgate twice. I have also taken down all my protections and firewall. The game works offline just fine. I tried running the game in both explorer and firefox. I ran the connection test and it came up OK. I have tried as many of the suggestions here as I could without any success.

I realize that I am not alone. I really shouldn't have to be a programmer to play this game. CRS please credit my account till you solve the problem.

I figured it out!

Re-Check the microsoft firewall settings.

For some reason it got re-enabled from the latest Microshaft software updates push

We are not sure why so many are still unable to reach our authentication server with the game. We would greatly appreciate more information from you in the form of traceroutes so we can investigate if there are an ISP issues contributing to this problem.

To generate a Traceroute, please follow these steps:

1. Go to Start -> Run

2. type "Command" and press "Enter"

3. type "tracert auth.playnet.com"

This should return:

I too have been having problems logging into the game. I usually have to click on the launch icon several times before I can get the window with the username and password to come up. Usually when I click on launch icon it goes straight to the window that says log in error. Yesterday and today I have not been able to get into the game.

seriously

if you have McAfee running in your taskbar launch tray, right click on it, select "change settings," click on Internet and Network on the left, and then click on "advanced" under the firewall box. I set playgate to full access, now it works every time I launch. Not sure how that was changed, but if a group of people using McAfee is running into this problem, at the same time, it must have something to do with a recent McA update or 1.29 full install and playgate's firewall status reset.

This fixed it for me :D

I get to the part where I select all, which it does, but when I right click to copy, it deselects. I am running Vista home. I was able to get on the game up until about a month ago. I haven't changed anything, unless Comcast did. I have totally uninstalled the game and downloaded and installed it again.

ug lats.

Frustrated orc here. :cool:

Trying to get back into the game (played during the Beta, and several months after release) and have some fun. But having trouble logging in.

My shortcut says "Play Battleground Europe", and when I did all the hints it suggests here, I still can't get it. I double click the shortcut, enter my username and password (which I verified is correct and billing up to date, account Active), when I hit the Launch button, playgate pops up, then closes with an error.

Instead of trying to right click to copy, just use control c to copy the info.

ok update.. I finally got the playgate server to launch from my desktop.. evidently my firewall was blocking it this time around for some reason..

but now as soon as the game starts to launch I get this error.

"the application or DLL C:\Windows\system32\atioglx.dll is not a valid Windows image

please check against your install diskette"

can anyone help me problem solve this?

I've run ww2ol successfully for years now on this same PC. but for whatever reason since I reinstalled the game a few weeks ago this is happening now..errrr

This fixed it for me :D

Im sorry to say that after months of dealing with this issue it seems that it was the McAfee firewall causing this the whole time.;)

I was running just fine, windows patched, now i'm broken again. I checked all the firewalls...not it. tracert shows fine. I run the checknet and the "first" time the ping to the auth server is 7700ms, after that it's super fact (30ms). Last time, it just "cleared up" magically. Not so this time :confused:

I'll try to find some time tomorrow to get the teultest/netcheck applications up for download again and see if we can find out where the connection is breaking down.

Until then I don't have any useful suggestions: if you're desperate to get into the game and you don't mind trying an old version of our playgate replacement, you can grab the last good stable build here:

http://web3.wwiionline.com/pg/

The installer does not overwrite your existing playgate (it goes into \program files\crs\playgate\ instead of \program files\playnet\playgate).

I've been having difficulting getting into the game do to authentication error,

"if you're desperate to get into the game and you don't mind trying an old version of our playgate replacement, you can grab the last good stable build here:

The installer does not overwrite your existing playgate (it goes into \program files\crs\playgate\ instead of \program files\playnet\playgate).

I Just developed a authentication problem on both my laptop and desktop. On my laptop I terminated McAffee from from processes and playgate loaded 1st attempt after that.

Went home tried to do the same on my desktop and still no luck. Downloaded the earlier playgate version mentioned by kfs1 and not one error since then even with McAffee still enabled on my desktop.

Who knows but the old version is worth a try. Just download it and use the new desktop icon to launch - no need to delete old version or anything.

this problem has popped it's nasty head up again.

i tried going via the shortcut, properties and coping "C:\Program Files\Playnet\Playgate\PlayGate.exe" 1 1

then having that i went to start. run, cmd and pasted the "C:\Program Files\Playnet\Playgate\PlayGate.exe" 1 1 which brought up the box to log in.

crazy route just to get in the game. HOWEVER, i can not get into the training server either from start/programs or via the official web site.

Can't get in to the game - sounds like most of the rest of people. This has been happening on and off for me for about a month. Some nights it starts right up, others I keep trying but can't get in. I tried running the executable through 'cmd' with no luck there either. Haven't tried using an old version, but that's next.
