Recent Authentication Problem

I have tried everything typed in here but still cant connect to game got so far where i put in the login name and password and press connect the i get

PLEASE CHECK YOUR FIREWALL!! SETUP ERROR: NETWORK ACCESS FAILED....

I have even tried with out a firewall and virus program but it dont work

Any ides

Wow Awesome...

I have to read 9 pages of a forum (cause you know theres nothing else I want to spend my time on) in order to get no official answer... Maybe a mention on the main site of the issue beig worked on would be nice... you know, something to keep me from feeling like you just took 15 bucks from me...

my trace's are the same like everyone elses... and my tester works 50% of the time the rest of the time i get random time outs and random high pings.

Please try the Open Beta.

First uninstall Playgate 1.19 Build F if you tried that. Build F is now obsolete.

The install the Open Beta and let that patch up.

You may access the live game through the new Playgate contained in the Open Beta.

Go to \Program Files\Cornered Rat Software\Battleground Europe\

Run Playgate.exe

Accept the Terms of Service by clicking Agree

Choose Battleground Europe LIVE server.

Enter your Login information and click Login

Select Campaign and click Play.

Thank you.

Back after 3 years away. Paid the re sub fees, downloaded the game, account says active and CD key acknowledged. Game will not launch. Tried the above as well as the DNS flush, game will not launch. I either get a Firefox web page error saying Failed To Connect or it takes me to a WWII error page saying Authentication Failed (or something like that). :mad:

One thing about the above quote, after I choose the Battlefield Live server, it does not give me a choice to enter my Login or Password. It simply goes straight to trying to connect to the server, after 2 attempts it gives me the authentication error. The Login and Password fields are there but are blank and I cannot enter any data in them.

Awesome, any suggestions please?

Seriously CRS, I dropped my subscription about 3 years ago and came back because a friend started playing again and said a lot of improvements have been made and I get this firewall error the first time I try and login?

If this open beta fix doesn't work then I'm going to cancel and tell anyone who asks that this game is still in it's "BETA" phase. Not a great way to welcome back old players....

Tried using the Beta and still recieve the same error.

I guess I'll wait a day or two for some non-existant help to arrive before I cancel. Oh and I am running a brand new IBM T400 that plays many other MMO's really well, just not this one. Yes I did submit a ticket but to be honest if what seems to be a widespread problem like this has not been fixed then I don't have much hope in CRS' programming team.

Ok, if theirs no solution then just say it and let me cancel and save my money. Not responding at all to trouble tickets is pretty amateur.

Yes, I am venting because I really looked forward to playing again and now it seems that isn't going to happen.

Geez, gotta love the lack of response or support. I'll give it till Friday, if no further attention to the matter is received I will have to assume it for sure will not be addressed over the holiday weekend. I reckon I'll have no choice but cancel the sub I just jumped thru hoops to reset and request a refund for the activation key. Which btw, imo, is silly to charge me for. I played the game for over a year when it was released and have returned counting this last time about 3 times. Perhaps I should be saving the keys but I doubt they are valid after a set time period. Sure it is only $5 but come on, the new players get 14 or 30 days free, folks like us return and instead of being welcomed back, we have to pay for another key each time and now, get shoddy customer service as well.

I am giving up. Played in the beta years ago, came back periodically, thought I'd try again last weekend.

New account, run install, blah, blah. Can't connect. Ok, Embarq had issues here over the weekend, maybe it was that.... Nope, those issues are resolved, still can't connect.

Read the FAQs, ran the check program, ran tracerts and pings, blah, blah. Still get the error connect page.

Went to the downloads page to pickup the playgate full install since that was one of the fixes mentioned. Oh nice:

"550 /playgate_119.exe: No such file or directory"

Meanwhile I run City of Heroes, WOW and Champions Online beta. Also Steam, Left4Dead and a little TF2. Hmm, weird I'm able to connect to all of those. how about I just turn off my firewall and expose everything. Nope, same error.

Done.

Well I am getting a response on my trouble ticket but now it seems to be my graphic card, a Radeon HD 3470. I'm still not really holding out much hope but we will see.

Good deal, at least you are getting somewhere. But seriously, the video card is fritzing being able to connect to the server? OK, seems odd though. That card is a bit dated but should be more than sufficient to run this game.

For the record, mine is an Evga 9800GTX+. Any known issues with that card?

It seems a hardware conflict. I have a GTS 250 (its a "new" 9800GTX) and the game don't even load, when I double-click the .EXE the screen goes dark for a few secs then CTD....

Select "Use Secondary" In the Connection Setting!

Run the Settings.exe program in your \Battleground Europe\ folder and choose "Use Secondary".

Holy crap, was about to give up, tried the above, BOOYAH, launcher is now working.

Yah, tried that too. Tried "Best" (the default) then secondary, then primary. Whee. No joy.

And referencing the above video card thing. A video card is the source of not being able to connect to a server? Unless I misunderstood (always a possibility in witch-land) I have now officially heard everything.

A few things.

This is a COMMUNITY support forum. Players helping Players. Support.playnet.com is the official support channel. It is where I post information and where you can enter tickets. In this case, you'd have gotten the advice I've posted up thread and on that page.

And "Support" is just me. I also sleep and often do not work on weekends. We regret we are not able to offer more support than that, but that is the way it is for now.

We don't know why the Build F started failing for people all at once. It is obsolete and unsupported now anyway though.

All traceroutes will time out after "playnet.demarc.cogentco.com" because that is our firewall.

The Check your Firewall Error message is erroneous for 99.99% of all players. It should not be seen in 1.30.

Zod, the open beta fixes the ATI driver issue (that many games have) for us. There might still be a permutation of it that we aren't getting though.

The problem with the authentication issue is that about 10 different things have worked to fix some people, but nothing has worked for some, and we have been able to find no commonality nor replicate the issue.

Captrio9's issue is not related to the authentication issue.

Witch, were you able to try the Open Beta and login to either the Beta or the Live/Campaign server?

Playgate 1.19 is back up (someone thought we didn't need it up anymore), but it will be obsolete when 1.30 launches (as will 1.19 Build F, and it should be uninstalled). Playgate 1.19 is automatically installed when you install the Full or Patch version, it pops-up after the game install happens and you click through it - this might not have been obvious but that is how it has worked for years and years. We keep 1.19 around for the odd player that buys a CD somewhere and doesn't realize they should just get the latest Full Install.

Ok the newest driver from Lenovo off their site fixed it. However I had to install only the driver and NOT Catalyst to get ot to work.

Will 1.30 patch repair the some of the Authentication Errors? I have turned off all my firewalls, I did everything what has been said on every support ,help, and support forum. I pinged the system and used the check thing and still nothing. I reformated and re-updated my computer to service pack 3, updated my graphics card, loaded up Frame net 3.0 and did everything I could possibly think of!!! I have worked on this for two days! Almost straight! I just resubscribed after 4 years and really would like to play again! Can anyone help?

Hey all!

So I downloaded playgate 119.exe the latest one, but haven't downloaded 1.30 and can't autoupdate it because it says authentication problem when I try to lgo into playgate. Here is what my checknetv5 says:

I tried to go into control panel-windows firewall to turn it off to see if that would help start the auto update process (or at least help me log into playnet without authentication error), but when I click on windows firewall, it just says "Windows firewall setting cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing server (ICS)?" So I click yes, and it tries to, but then it says "Windows cannot start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) service." So I really can't turn off my firewall. How do I fix my firewall problem if it helps me log into playgate and auto update BE to version 1.30?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

**EDIT** ^^^^ Oh just noticed the post KFS. So I just wait for awhile and when it's ready, let it auto update? I downloaded playgate version119, and still have last BE version in there, and if I don't let it update automatically I may have to wait till tomorrow to play, hopefully auto update will work.

Oh and also, if my PC ran the last version of ww2ol just fine and dandy, will it run this one too?

all i had to do was shut down firewalls and go into the program files folder and click ww2 icon worked for me

I would turn off my firewall, but I can't because of the paragraph I posted 2 posts up, can anyone make sense of it? I applied new update but playgate repeatedly tries to connect to auth server with no success, and heres my checknet v5 results:

I have unistalled 1.29, deleted the registry folder playnet from the 1.29 version. Re downloaded and installed 1.30. I seem to ge authenticated. Click play game and my entire system crashes. The last I tried to start the game got the dreaded Blue Screen. Downloaded and installed the connection Untility. This is what it says.
