1.30 Bugs

As usual report all bugs here with details and crash reporter and whatever else might be useful.

As of today I know the sound still sucks (see my other sticky) but its better.

As of today, I don't know the status of the 10 char crash (FontBBox). @#$#@$

As of today its possible the mission leader cannot report or create waypoints on Mac only.

There will of course be a 1.30.1. Probably .2 as well.

Also note that 1.31 will go into beta soon as well. This is the version with all the massive new Gimcracks and Gewgaws. Also 1.30 means beta starts in China, which when they release will mean mega $$$ for rats.

D/L new version, no workiee! Tried offline, as servers are getting set up, "click play offline button, screen goes black for about a second then back to desktop... Checked res settinga on video etc, D/L another copy same issue....

I can't download new version. Got the same problem I had with Beta which is it when I load up it bumps me to the Login Error Report page. Tried again, making sure I typed in my account password - same thing. Maybe too many eager beavers like me are trying to download at once? :confused:

As for this moment, unless there is a different ftp server for mac users (unlikely), our .dmg files doesn't exist yet.

I mean at this very exact moment and second, it can change anytime.

Still getting the dreadful Mac mouse stutter bug when playing infantry. Whenever I move the mouse my rifle stutters across the screen instead of panning smoothly. Yet when i use binocs it pans a lot more smoothly...

I know its not my system because it never used to do this until quite recently... really hope it gets fixed in the next patch, it's making infantry almost unplayable.

If we still get the long name version bug then I am appalled. Will give serious consideration to unsubbing if this is true. Cannot believe that something that gives so much frustration is still with us.

I've hammered on this one until I was blue in the face and could get no satisfaction.

However, the stack trace is not the same so it might be a new bug based on the same scenario.

I wouldn't unsub based on a 1.x.0 version, there are a lot of report of other problems that will need to be fixed as well (like M10s having only 1 track). After as long a dev time as this one (and with so *FEW* open beta testers) it may take a couple point releases to settle things down.

I can only rarely get this to happen, however, if you can reliably cmd-tab (at spawn page), try this:

Run Activity Monitor, then launch the game and go online (but stay at spawn page). Cmd-tab to finder at look at AM's memory tab. Note how much free (green) memory is there and report.

Second start up a bunch of apps (Safari, Word, whatever) then launch the game and go online. At spawn point cmd-tab out then quit all those apps, note the green memory in AM, then go back to the game and spawn infantry.

Any diff?

Just a guess and could be quite wrong, but I need another data point to rule one reason out.

ahwulf - First, really appreciate your support. Thanks!

Second, I logged on this morning to test out 1.30, looked good but I am now getting these massive drops in FPS when I pan around. For example, I'll be tanking with my commander out getting 50-80 fps. Then I will glance or pan left and FPS will drop to 2-5 for a second or two before climbing back up again. From the gunner position, I will zoom in and get 30 fps, then as I rotate the turret towards town it will drop to 3 fps for a few second and then only come up to 15 fps.

I've reset the preferences to "Performance" and it seems that my fps are better than ever before in some views, but way way lower than ever in others. Anyone else having this? And is this the same problem as above? Should I try the same fix?

I'm still getting the long name issue as well. I am EXTREMELY pissed this hasn't been fixed yet. We suffered through 1.29, playing a proverbial game of "russian roulette" with scrolling over tags on the map, and I'm sitting, sniping at an FB which took me 30 FREAKIN MINUTES to crawl out to, only to CTD because of the same GODDAMNED problem. I won't even get into the fact my mouse still stutters like mad...

I have not ONCE complained or gotten angry about this game's "features" and quirks, but I am absolutely LIVID right now.

FPS drops for me quite a bit when looking at the sun, but this sub 10FPS might be something else. So far I've only noticed it near Antwerp. Looking at a certain section of the landscape (outside of the city, but I don't remember the direction), the ground texture wasn't rendering and I was getting sub 10FPS. Looking away from that bad patch and I was back to normal.

No - that ain't it. Just tried again and it seems to happen everywhere, but much worse when I am in town. The FPS will be fine but as soon as I do a quick view change, either to another crew member or quick glance then FPS bottoms out to 2 before recovering. Flying, i get the best FPS ever over 110, but as soon as I get near ground, or look over my shoulder, it crashed down to 2-5 fps.

Other very weird thing is when I am on the brigade/mission pages, the whole things really slows down, takes a second or two for menus to change or lists to appear.

I am really worried about this. My settings are maxed, and if I can't fly or fight in town, then this game is pooched for me.

some things i have noticed.

1. preferences don't get saved from session to session. That is, if i adjust lets say mini-map to be off, (thats just an example) next time I log this option will get back to the default value.

2. fps dropped for me. I am running on an iMac that used to get 120+ and no stutters on 1.29. Now i get 50+ but worst, the stutters are really bad. ( this is for minimum video settings, best performance)

3. Language option is not available.

4. this is not a bug but a feature that I would like improved. It seems its no longer possible to do testing in a training session. All we have now for instance for air training instances is E1, hurri, hawk75. Also the AFs are quite far. Area 51 training instances are no longer possible?

The FPS being up and down is a cross platform issue, people are complaining who never got FPS trouble before.

The original 10char bug that was there was fixed but there is something new of a similar nature. I know as I tested this today in the live client and could mouse over 10 char names. However there is something else going wrong now with drawing names. I got a CTD that crashed the @#$#@ debugger. Argh.

Where is the language option supposed to be?

Preferences - which are being saved and which aren't? THey added some and its possible they didn't think about the Mac.

I am looking that the mouse stutter which is a RANDOM value bug. 3 times I played this evening and got it 1&3 and not 2. These are nasty to find.

Since Oli is trying to fix the host by himself, I am the only person helping out on Mac issues and it's costing me my dev time, so be patient. Once China is making $ the rats can pay for more coders.

Note I will be out of town taking care of my mom (who has advanced lung cancer) next week so I won't be able to do any work on this source next week.

Just reporting a MASSIVE FPS drop. My setup is as follows:

3.06 iMac

512 MB nVidia

4 GB RAM

OS X 10.5.7

I put everything at the lowest settings at average no better than 10 FPS. In a town it is 4-5 FPS looking in any direction.

Wow, that's terrible. People are reporting wildly varying fps on both platforms. What nvidia model is that? Try the highest setting just for kicks.

So far she's doing better than we are, still no treatment plan yet, mostly likely it will be chemo of some kind. For now she's not too bad off, just needs someone around to lower stress.

Just to let you know. 1.30 solved my display problems although the display still says 2 (main display). I'm now able to play on osx again woot:) Too bad fps has dropped noticeably.
