Status_access_violation

Hi,

Any help appreciated obviously would like to start with an educated direction than just start guessing where my errors are and hope someone here can help.

Summary of Situation:

- Recently have purchased a new machine before had not CTD issues.

- updated all my drivers at the time (2 weeks ago).

- Loaded Windows 7 64Bit.

- Needs to set windows vista compatability on "Play Online" Shortcut. (or mouse doesn't move)

- Note: running windows on a SSD and system is set to self manage page file (I assumed this means off)

Have only tried basic troubleshooting.

- Netcode new and Old.

- SS2 on and off.

- Teamspeak and TRackIR Running vs closed.

- monitored memory usage and didn't see it

- I have [not] tried to turn DEP off, not sure if this is required?

Ancidotal:

- Seem to get the CTD/error 'most' of the time when I'm on the ground.

- Plane when on the deck waiting for others before taking off.

- As infantry running around towns.

- I Notice this *seems* again to occur when I'm using the keyboard (Bluetooth Logitech Mx5000 (updated firmware/drives)

- Can happen anytime in missions.

- Have noticed increase in frequency when trying to defend towns against enemy as inf.

- Have noticed decrease in frequency when flying.

My Issues:

Let me know if there is something I can do to 'monitor' my memory to help find the location of the issue or to see what was runnign at the time/using the address space? I'm assuming this is what this error means?

Looks like Vista also has that memory test tool, which I did not know. I will try mine tonight since I'm having the same problem as Twisty, but with Vista 64bit instead of Win7.

Thanks, I have scheduled a memory test for the next reboot.

I will let you know my results.

Right now I'm going to try ARMA II and GTA IV.

Like I said its been a long time since a machine upgrade. :P

I will come back with results.

Windows 7 Memory Results above. I am going to run them again (more loops) over breakfast.

Ran ARMA II and GTAIV last night and both were stable, running max Video settings for 8 hours in both titles to ensure it wasn't GPU instability.

+++++ Looking forward to other suggestions ++++++

My next test is to remove my old battleground europe settings folder (in my docs) and try it with a fresh one.

I can't think of what else to try, i'll run windows performance monitor and see what happens.

Note: I have just run this now for 15mins and no crash. Will load up all my extra's and give it a real test tonight.

I have been having a look at I have had some:

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Exception tried to: read at address 0x00000000

In the Past as well.

Each of these is reported by windows with playgate.exe as its running in the 'compatability' enviroment. It actually dumps a file

c:\users\username\appdata\temp\{guid}\appcompat.txt

Which I will try to get my hands on when it next crashes.

Windows XP 64bit here - worked fine with the 7950 graphics card, now that I have the GTS-250 in there not so much...

Internet works, other games work, just get the black screen then back to desktop with ww2ol

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I played last night without crash (few CTHL's but that was network related).

Used Netcode 2 which let me at least stay in game with bad network connectivity!

Summary:

So the only thing I have tried difference is removing the battleground europe folder from my documents (I renamed it) to start from scratch.

Future:

Will keep plodding away. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this error to help those identify the issue? i.e how to translate the memory addressing, i'm assuming its relative so not usefull without context.

siege22:

Have you tried all the "basic" stuff, like SSE on and off, netcode, running as administrator etc? how long into the game untill it kicks you out? try renaming the battelground europe folder in my documents and testing (always rename it back if it doesn't fix it).

I tried SSE on / off, did not try netcode? Does run as admin apply to xp?

I start the game it paints the black picture then after 1-2 seconds I'm back to desktop and it's acting like it never tried to start ww2ol.

Haven't tried renaming in documents will give that a go tonight. Thanks for the tips any help is appreciated.

Ok, tried renaming battlefield field europe folder and let the install re-create one. I know it worked as it no longer had my user name defaulted in log-in screen. Does exact same thing - starts to load (took longer then previous trys) and even got an hour glass for a half a second then dumped back to desktop. Guess I'll have to wait till the next version - out of ideas to try at the moment.

* Offline fails as well

* Drivers up to date (GTS-250) - using nvidia 191.07 for windows xp 64bit

* Posted results of log file and why I posted in this thread since it did say Status access violation

I'm thinking I just need to suspend the account for a month or so until the latest patch comes out. Whenever I've ran into issues like this that seem unsolvable they seem to resolve themselves in future patches.

*edit* Thanks for your help and suggestions though Twisty - always looking to try different things :)
