Make sure your video and audio drivers are up to date. Completely uninstall the game and be sure and remove the "My Documents/Battleground Europe" folder.

Then re-install the game but, and this is the important part, run the installer in compatibility mode for Vista Service Pack 2 and also make sure to run the installer as administrator. The installer is the program you download from the website called wwiiol0001303.exe.

I had terrible problems for a long time with the game not running but since I installed it this way I've been able to play with almost no trouble at all. I don't know if this will work for you but I hope it does. One other note, when I installed the game this way it seemed to take a long to install, more than 10 minutes. Make sure to let it run all the way until it finishes.

oneskunk is correct. just install as admin, run in Vista SP 2 mode and also run as admin. works fine.

But remember it may not just be WWIIOL you have to sort. When I built this drive on W7 I could play other games but not WWIIOL. I had to upgrade my graphics card because, although the Vista drivers handled my other games OK, WWIIOL fell over and no later drivers were available. Start with the advice above for the game ^^^^ and then if you still get problems you will need to go through your system looking at each component.

how u do that?

Here is one way.

Go to http://www.pcpitstop.com/store/driveralert.asp and download Driver Alert. This is a free scan but you have to pay for the full version, but no worries. Just click the button, download, install and then when it starts hit "Free Scan". Make a note of any drivers that are not up-to-date.

Now Google the device with out of date drivers, go to the official website and check for Windows 7 drivers. You may have to make do with Vista drivers if there are no W7 drivers.

If you have an older device which is not working properly, and there are no W7 drivers (it is called "legacy support", in other words no new drivers will be released) you may need to think about replacing the device

I didnt even have to re-install, i just did that thing where you change which

system you would like to run it in, selected "Vista SP2" and switched to "Run As Admin"

and Voilá, the game is running better than ever..

Thanks for the info guys.. Now to improve my K/D cos it sucks at the moment. LOL

.

Great Idea! That is something I had not done. So I did that and lo and behold, ...

It still doesn't work.

But at least 1.31 still works off and online.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

Can you post your complete DXDIAG?

just type dxdiag in the start window and it'll bring that up, click save all info and copy paste it in here, takes a couple posts to do the whole thing...but we need the whole dxdiag to see everything.

damn bug, your one of the few people i've ever seen that has all of there drivers installed correctly.

Now that i see its a alienware, I think there was a specific alienware program or software that was keeping it from running the game. let me see if i can dig that up for you.

Thank you for your help.

In regards to your first reference, my thermal cooling application is working fine, so I do not want to disable it till it does malfunction.

With my current graphic driver version, my NeverWinter Nights 2 (NWN2) game runs wonderfully. When I upgraded the graphic driver to the most recent version, it did not solve the WW2 Online campaign problem, but the new version did screw up my NWN2 display. So I've backed off of the NVIDIA version and both NWN2 works as well as the beta version of WW2 Online.

You are correct. The latest video driver version ran the WWII Online beta (1.31),

but NOT the production version (1.30), in both off and online modes. That driver

version also messed up the NWN2 display.

When I rolled the driver version back, NWN2 displayed properly, and 1.31 worked

both online and offline. 1.30 continued to fail off and online.

hmmmmm..

man that is a funny problem.

you try moving your config files out of the battleground europe folder and seeing if it will boot and make some new default configs?

I had to do that to 1/2 my games when i got a new monitor and my games were stuck at the old displays refresh rate (CRT ran at 95Hz, this lcd does 60)

Forgive my ignorance but which files are the "config" ones?

I looked in the game directory and did not see any labeled as such.

(your name)/My documents/Battleground Europe/cfml

basicly they are in your my documents folder, just copy paste the contents of that folder somewhere else (dont delete).

see if you can boot after that, i'm not even sure if it will work or not. i probably doubt it... but worth a shot right?

lemme know, i'm still digging around.

if 1.31 works, and 1.30 doesn't, It just might be a bad download of the game.

You can always try and completely delete 1.30 and re download a fresh installation, install it and try again. (not sure if you already tried that)

I looked in C:/Users/Bugwar/My Documents/Battleground Europe/

and did not find any item with "cfml".

I also looked in the neighboring ... /Battleground Europe TEST/

directory and saw a 'cfml' subdirectory.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the 1.30 version of WWII

Online previously, but have not done so for the 1.31 version.

Your on windows 7 right?

So 1.30 folder does NOT have a cfml directory, but the 1.31 has a cfml directory?

This is how it looks to me on 7.
