sound could be your issue. ive had that before. you could always disable your sound and try starting it. if it load switch from hardware to software or other way. In other games Ive gottem BSOD from having software/hardware setting incorrect.

I had this issue before back in erm.. January to April 2009.

the problem? turned out to be the motherboard.

I replaced EVERYTHING in my PC except the motherboard and power supply trying to fix the issue, decided to upgrade to a Intel based chipset from a Nvidia based chipset, all my problems disappeared and my PC performance jumped.

btw I went from a evga 750i FTW edition mobo, to a gigabyte EP-45 UD3R mobo

With new machine, sometimes you need to install directx9 and 8 drivers to get "older" games working.

With vista, i had even to register manually some dll into the register, otherwise some older game didnt work.

Another thing, that solved a lot of problems for me in vista.

Use a C and D drive and install all games in a selfmade d:\program files\, while vista still uses the standard c:\program files\ with the abnormal high security on that folder.

The problem being, or It use to be, with alienware. They write there own drivers. and the drivers from other sources can cause issues. not sure if this is still there way.

1.31 does load in offline

That's good at least. Hopefully we'll get to do some online testing here before too long and it will still work.

I'd definately update the vid driver, if that is the windows supplied driver then 1.30 will not load on it.....Least it would'nt with the nvidia driver that shipped on the evaluation versions of win7.

Guarantee you it's your video driver. I have the same version of Win 7 and same processor and had the exact same problem until I updated to Nvidia's latest driver.

You are turning off Windows Firewall I'm assuming, make sure that your router and Anti-Virus also do not have a firewall (or if they do, the necessary ports are forwarded properly).
