Is anyone getting Mac CTDs?

33 posts in this topic

I have a nifty crash log utility to parse out the crash logs but I haven't gotten but two recently. Both were sound related and I put in a little fix in beta.

Is it that stable or is no one getting a crash log? PC users get a ton of crashes.

Do you mean Lost Connection to Host? or actual crashes?

I have had a few actual crashes, but not many. And first time today, the game just crashed with no warning, was just gone from everything. No message, no screen, nada, just disappeared completely from my screen.

As for LCTH's, again, I've had a few, but not very many. My big issue is that silly lag and invisible people in cps.

Crashes. Connection issues are different. Crashes are usually put into

/Users/XXXXX/Library/Logs/CrashReporter

by the system with a name like

World War ][ Online_DATE_VOLUME.crash

or the crash reporter app appears. This is the Snow Leopard location anyway.

every single time I quit the game I get a "This application quit unexpectedly". My Crash reporter folder has a LOT of files with the naming convention you mention.

Do you want them? It happens when I "Command-Q".

10.5 also, so maybe you don't want them....

Yep was still getting nonstop CTD's. I have given up trying for a bit as the frustration is a bit too much.. I find zero related to the crash in any log, since the log I sent dated the 9th and have tried on 2 different Macs. I have been effectively unable to play since the release...grim.

Regards Monty

Also does anyone know for sure if the I7 2.8 Imac works ... Y/N????

If I buy one and and end up the same boat its pointless as I am trying to hold out for the new Mac Pro....

Did you try a mac with OS 10.6.x?

I can't figure out why no crash logs generated, if I had one from 131.1 I could trace this easily. My stack trace utility only started with 1.31.1 though so the 1.31.0 one doesn't help.

Could you refresh me on what your specs are?

Did you try the latest beta at:

I just sent you the only 4 crashlogs I have from my new MBP but they are all within the last week. The biggest issues I seem to have with 1.31 are CTHL's (which have been a bit less lately) and when I Command-H the game window to check on something such as Teamspeex, forums or a PDF file (I still don't have brigade short names memorized yet).

Delem's ctd has a fix in the beta already.

Dark's are two new crashes I haven't seen before. What is your monitor/video cards setup? Do you have two? What setting do you have for Capture All Displays?

The CTHL's when you switch away from the app is a cross platform bug which Martini is looking at.

I think this is the bug (sound) I made a fix for. I can't guarantee it though as I could never get the bug to happen to me, but I know where it crashed and fixed that line.

Oh great, one of those combo things. Does it give you any way to pick which one you are using in OSX Preferences? I heard somewhere that it would pick based on available power and usage. It *could* be that something during my switching back in the application when you do cmd-H and return is mixing up these video cards, or OSX is switching behind my back. When does the crash happen ie what were you doing?

Ok, it seems that Apple developers think they know better and auto-switch the GPU to supposedly save battery life on MacBook Pro's. Don't they know that I have the Power Supply plugged in so use the better GPU? No...

So I've downloaded and leveraged this tool to force and keep the NVIDIA card the active card (http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus/). I'll run with it for about a week and report back as it was sporadic when it crashed but it seemed like it was always when switching applications which could also cause the GPU to switch which *MAY* be the cause of the crashes. I'll let you know.

Cool. Yeah I worry about the renderer changing out from under me as the full screen support switching makes some basic assumptions like not having the rug pulled out from under it. It actually crashes trying to set a value on the screen it started out running on, if for some reason it changed I can see why it would crash. Like assuming the user doesn't cmd-H replace the video card live and then return to the game.

Getting a lot of mission pending AARs which eventually lead up to a CTD. Restarting sometimes fixes this, but often not. I have to shut down the whole computer and then restart to fix that issue.

MP is supposedly fixed in beta, but we can't tell without a large pile of people on so it might not be obvious until live early next week.

Yep still ctd's around any activity and sometimes in remote places as well, often have to wait through side lock get back in and crash again, generates no log I can find. Haven't tried beta. Got on with a flak 30 in the middle of nowhere, after 25 min sitting with zero going on anywhere around some temps showed over 75 deg C...
