5 posts in this topic

Hi!

Thinking about buying a new comp - the main critical issue for me is:

"Will it run my favourite game - WWIIOL!!!!!?"

Has any one had any drama's with the specifications below, when running WWIIOL?

Intel Core I7 930 Processor

Asus P6X58D-E motherboard with USB 3.0

ATi Radeon HD5870 1024MB Graphics Card

[case and power details omitted]

6GB High Speed 1600MHz DDR3 Memory

[reader devices omitted]

Corsair Nova 60GB SSD

1000GB SATA 7200rpm hard disk for additional storage

Onboard HD 7.1 Soundcard

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM

ANY, ANY opinions or observations on its ability to run WWIIOL appreciated (less Spam ;-) )

P.S. RATS - Im buying this computer so we can become a two computer hosuehold again and my wifey can chauffer me around!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I were you I'd change one thing.

Replace the 5870 with a 6870 instead.

True, the 5870 is faster but the performance advantage isn't as high as the price difference suggests.

The 6800-series have other advantages though. It's better suited for OpenGL, comparisons have shown this. They have full support for OpenCL and Direct Compute, the 5800-series does support those but not to the same extent. AND, it has 3D support with HDMI 1.4a, something the 5800-series does not have at all.

The most important reason though is that in BGE you won't see any difference in performance whatsoever between them so why spend more money than you need?
