New computer specs

12 posts in this topic

Since 1.31 a lot has changed graphics wise and performance wise.

I tried to load up 1680x1050, and I couldn't even move my mouse lol..

What kind of computer spec is required to run this flawless?

I got an old E8400, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA 8800GTX..

Will the following be able to run it?

I7-950, 6-8GB RAM (DDR3) and NVIDIA GTX580 (I know ATI has better performance / value, however I want proper linux drivers).

That computer does not exist.

EDIT: (Didn't notice you said 2GB, I read 6GB) 2GB is probably low.

I find it's more about compatibilty than performace. Some fancy custom gaming computer can easily have more problems than a decent very common computer from Best Buy.

I don't think your mouse issue is related to needing better hardware. Did you try a non usb mouse?

Its just due to lagging.. I mean I can move but its like 1 frame a second :)

Guess Ill just tone it down for now (resolution).. I need to get 2GB more RAM thats for sure :)

Make sure you have the Low memory option checked in the preferances.

That said, I'm running a i7 920 oced to 3.4ghz, 260gtx vid and 6 gigs ddr3 ram on win7 64 *also have a 32 bit win 7 on this machine.

Runs the game no prob.

I also have a E2160 rig oced to 2.3 ghz with a 9600gt vis and 2 gigs ddr2, win xp 32 sp3 that, with game settings lowered....lower res most of the shaders turned off and no AA or anistropic actualy runs the game ok.

My grandson TGed on it during the last pearl harbor event with playable fps.

One of the 1st things to do if fps are bad low in heavy battles is lower the "visable players limit" in the preferances. This lowers the number of players drawn/tracked in your viz list, not the distance they drawn in at other than yes if you hit the limit then farther players get biased out.

That E8400 should run the game, maybe try OCing it up a tad? 3.4ghz is the sweet spot for wwiiol, past that any extra preformance drops off quick per addition clock step.

But those E series intels oc like crazy with little to no heat rise (within reasonable limits of course. I'd be surprised if you saw any heat increase on a .4ghz increased oc.

Here is my DxDiag:

I can hardly move ingame.. It just lags too much.. very weird never had problems.. even in 1024x768 its unplayable?

Have no problems playing other more 3d intensive games.. Also checked my memory usage.. Lots of free memory while ingame.. So I am wondering... :(

I did a full installl..

It's working now thou.. I switched 2GB ram for 4GB ram from my server.. Now it runs normally..

Either it was because my Computer had been turned on for a few days without reboot or the 2GB more RAM did the trick..

Thanks for the help thou! :)
