Feedback - Lowered fps in 1.33

Part of the problem is; if we advise players to have V-sync on because they get 40->60 FPS or better with it on (this is quite adequate render wise) ... yet they see that with it off they get a higher number then they always want the higher number, even though it lessons quality for no ACTUAL performance advantage.

Most people believe bigger/higher is better even when it isn't really better at all.

What happened with 1.33.4? I have significantly lower fps than with earlier 1.33 versions.

.benchremagen 23

.benchinfantry 7

Values from earlier versions:

.benchremagen: 62fps

.benchinfantry: 25-27fps

No issues here. Might be good for others to test though.

Test 1

1.33.4

bench remagen: 63

bench infantry: 48

1.33.3

bench remagen: 61

bench infantry: 46

Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.0 GHz

That's terrible. There is definitely something wrong. What do you get HUD off?

This is not a vsync on/off issue. With 7 fps in benchinfantry I am far from being able to turn on vsync. Something was fugged up in the last patches.

My system hasn't changed (had good frames on my Win7 64bit system with 1.33.2), still the frames are way lower now.

The stutters are back for me, be it at the deck over aos or at 6k in no mans land when doing a 6 check. Playing ground is no option atm.

It would be very much appreciated if you guys would fix that, my gaming experience has seriously degraded.

that was the result what I have got with Huds off.

Does not make any big difference..with Hud I have got 20/14

ok Have to say sorry...The fault was on my side...

My CPU was just running with 800 mhz instead 3200

After a Bios upgrade I have got following result

Remagen 77fps

Infrantry 54 fps

sorry !

IBM used to be accused of selling mainframes that ran slow until you paid for an upgrade, then they flipped a switch to make it "faster". What kind of PC did this?

that was a bug with my Gigabyte Mainboard Bios and AMD Phen. II X4 955 Processor.

Corespeed was just at max 800 MHZ instead 3200 MHZ

Dont know if the term "upgrade" is correct in that context..but I havent paid anything extra.

Windows 7 64-bit

Amd Athlon 64 X2 6400+

Nvidia 9800GT

4Gb RAM

1680x1050

Performance

Remagen :

48 WITH HUD

59 WITHOUT HUD

benchinfantry

28 WITH HUD

34 WITHOUT HUD

I have roughly the same system, duo core 3ghz , 9800gt , win7 at at 1680x1050 I get.

Remagen : 30

Infantry : 20

What are you settings in game that your numbers are around 75% better then mine yet we both have roughly the same hardware?

thanks

Update: I played around with settings and found that if I disabled "water reflections" under effects I then had the following fps.

Remagen : 48

Infantry : 35

Almost a 75% increase by just disabled water reflections...wow

"water reflections" require much of the scene to be drawn twice, so disabling them can make nearly a 50% difference if the hardware is pegged.

Frame rate has killed the game for me. Unless this gets fixed I'm done. I can't go near any battle in any town without my frame rate dropping to 10 or less.

I assume you are playing on "best performance" settings.

What is your system like?

No I'm not. Medium settings actually.

CPU: AMD Phenom 8450 Triple core 2.10Ghz

GPU engine specs:

CUDA cores: 128

Graphics clock: 738 mhz

Processor clock: 1836 mhz

Screen Res: 1024x768x32

Looks like you're running a 9800 gtx. That should be good at that resolution, though I would look to turn normal maps off and definitely water reflections and maybe even water shaders.

Graphically what is hurting for you is the minimum shadows that are forced on. This will have reduced your fps in 1.33.

Ultimately though you're probably bottlenecked by the 2GHz CPU. Not much you can do settings wise to improve that except reduce your visible player limit.

Still, I'd try playing with best performance for a mission or two and see if it helps.

Tried everything you suggested Gophur, no change. It has to be the minimum shadows being turned on, I had some fps problems before but nothing like this.

Any chance of having shadows turned back off? Kinda odd that its an option in the game yet the last patch keeps them turned on. I never had the fps problems before 1.33 that I'm having now.

We only force the very minimum shadows on but they do take a hit. This was decided to be a game play factor as turning them off effectively gives a huge benefit to players who can now see infantry under trees.

Not sure I agree with that call on a performance basis but there you are.

Its almost always the video card, had to upgrade, now using nvidia gts 250

amd II x2 245 3.04 ghz proc

4-g ram

win 7 64 bit, which is bare nub system and I can set for " best performance" in game and still run two accounts at the same time with no lag, 50- 60 fps

sometime 100 fps with one logged in in moderate population
