French 76.2 mm ATG gun might as well not exist

PaK38 flips too. Rare but it happens.

Never had it happen with a PaK 40 or PaK 36 tho.

The 36 has a damn annoying tendency to fall flat on its barrel when pushing, though.

I think that's all the base Tier 0 ATGs, the 25mm and 2lbr do the same.

The real question is, why the hell are these heavy ATGs flipping in the first place? Should we go to the root of that problem and fix that?

I understand taking a corner way to fast when being towed, but no ATG on either side should ever flip by being pushed.

The m5 is in a class of its own in regard to handling, setup and flipping. The physics of the gun are simply hard to get to function properly with the ground, which causes all the issues.

I know Doc has spend eons trying to fix this beast, just as he did the 17pdr, when it moved like a boat, and as I understand it, getting this right, is danm hard if not impossible. Im pretty sure the handling of the guns is decided by a varity of files that contains the pfysics of the gun, so this is not just a matter of changing a single parameter, its probably many parameters that you have to sit and fiffle with- like a madly difficult puzzle.

The fact remains tho, handling the m5 sucks, towing it sucks even more.

Still, it has reach, which the m1 doesent, and its very usefull vs. stugs and to some degree tigers, where the m1 just doesent cut it.

It should be fixed at some point, and no, the m5 is nothing lilke any other gun, which is imminent to everyone who have tried it a few times.

While the m5 is by far the worst gun of the tier 2 guns, its still an asset in some situations.

Towing paks with Opels we sometimes get that 'rearend' effect when truck gets bumped by the atg and the Opel slows to a stop and has to gear up again, any inf on board also get thrown out and die. Do Allies get this with their atgs and trucks ?

That doesn't have much to do with the type of truck or atg.

Its just lag causing the truck to think the atg is in front of him and he bumps into it. Or something like that.

Happens regular yeah on allied side too.

Seriously the whole idea of towing ATGs at 80 km/h is stupid and then not expecting them to flip at that speed when you are jumping over berms etc.? All I would say is towers should pay more attention how they drive. :) I believe it's intended to get flipped when you drive like that, it's not a bug.

Its a bug, when other guns that should flip just as easy doesent.

Objectively, you are right, you cant tow an m5, pak 40 or 88 full speed cross country in RL, but then they should all be the same, not just the m5.

If you "jump" over a berm with an 88 or pak 40 or 17pdr on tow, ot will land just fine, do the same with them m5 at 1/4 of the speed, and it flips.

we're going to look at these again when we get time, but we can't promise what will come of that work

they really are beatches to improve in this respect, lord knows we've spent enough time on them previously

best advice is not to tow them at high speed especially over bumps/around corners

players always will of course, and we'll try to accomodate them but sometimes you just have to back it down a bit

Appreciate that , DOC. Its not as easy as flicking a switch to fix the issue, although you'll never convince the forum numpties of that. Such fail on the part of those trying to turn a thread over a bugged model into a partisan issue. Anyway hope it gets fixed. Kinda sucks getting new gear at a tier and having the previous version be more practical to use in almost all situations.
