Great PC, FPS sucks?

21 posts in this topic

Are you running the program in Administrator mode?

Also is there a way in Windows 8 to set compatibility mode?

I dont know jack about windows 8. Heard it was going to be more of a tablet PC OS than a full functioning OS like 7 64bit.

I really see no reason you are getting those frames unless A (Too many items running in the background), B. (Windows 8, GTCWTF compatibility issue)

Vsync on or off?

Drivers all up to date? Maybe try a later driver?

I changed the exe to windows 7 compatability mode. That had no impact.

This thing came with windows 8. I'd rather not buy 7 just to roll back, but I will if I must

Edit: Just ran a pretty intense stress test and I had one of the best scores on the benchmark charts.

errrrrr

Let me see "Start Up" under that picture.

53 processes seems like a lot.

there are too many too fit into a screen shot. but they are all ultra low usage. so low in fact, some appear to be idle in the background.

i don't think it's the cpu/ram. something with the video card/windows 8 i imagine

No gamer when building a gaming desktop will go for the latest OS, the gaming industry takes always time to adapt to a new OS.

So go for 7 or even XP64 if your hardware has drivers for it.

Btw that the Fatal1ty Z77 Performance?

How does it handle in BF 3? I'm thinking between that board and the Asrock Extreme 9.

Bar, what are your AA settings in Nvidia control panel?

In game settings, what is infantry detail and shadows set for?

I get great FPS with a similiar setup until i get near a lot of trees.

If your AA setting is set high thats a lot of work for the graphics card

I spent ages trying to get better FPS and it was detail that made a huge difference.

I doubled my FPS by turning it down a bit in the settings.

i gave up trying to get decent fps :P

i have an older system

i7 2.3

6g ddr3

ati 6950 2g GPu

but should be enough not to chug .. but it does .. in big fights in towns .. it chugs. ( but i think that is with settings all set to max ..)

it runs other games life BF3 just fine. with max settings .. including maxed out AA

zipeh, oc that i7 to 3.2 or 3.4 and you'll se fps improve or should.

I'm running a I7 920, the old I7, Oced to 3.4 and my fps are ok.

You gonna drop in the 30s when in heavy speedtree scenes with lots of inf about but 30s are ground playable.

infantry detail?

Yes inf detail. I was getting down to 18 fps in town with a decent enough rig (inc a 570GTX)/

Inf detail was the one thing that made a huge difference to me.

Either way the game doesnt push the graphics card too much so high end cards dont seem to give much benefit (I went from a 260GTX to a 570 - never saw much benefit except bino into trees maybe).

CPU seems to be the one.

See how you get on.

You can also try reducing the number of corpses that are left. That was really killing my FPS. It seems dead infantry use more resources than live infantry for some reason... at least, the ones in the offline server do. Certainly in game it helped a bit.
