Does it load if you try to go into offline mode? If you have a software firewall like Zone Alarm and you've set it up to allow ww2.exe access through it, then you have to re-allow access every time you patch the game.

Yeah Drill,

This new patch has shrapnelled all my start up playgate and game. The only thing I can do is play offline in the lonely practice environment.

Trying all sorts of stuff but nothing working so far. Hope I gat some credit back for the days i cant play, ha ha, dont think so. Thinking that varying systems might not like the new patch not that my systme is obscure just your average intel MB, Intel P4 chip, XP, a350 vid...nothing strange.

Anyone help???

I have the same problem, except that I get the "This program has performed illegal operation and will be shut" blah blah blah error right after I hit the launch button or try to start the game offline.

mook, start a new thread and include the dxdiag and wwiiol.cfg. However, it sounds like you may have to reinstall. You could also try rebooting your system, if you haven't since patching the game.

I tried to start a new thread but the forum says it's too lenghty. Any way I could send the dxdiag and wwiiol.cfg directly to you?

above is my dxdiag file

only started having trouble with this game when i installed patch last night.

hope this is not a hard fix.

not going to jump through hoops to pay for a game that want patch on my system. Not being a smart arse, but am really getting tired of all the little problems with this game. spent 3 hours of my free time so far screwing around with this game after the patch. So I am not only paying for something that does not work but wasting my free time.

sorry about this post but i am really frustrated.

not worth it and the way it sounds its happening not only with me.

respectfully yours,

Hmm. There's no definite cause that jumps out. The fact that the video card is failing it's Direct3D test is a little suspicious. WWIIOL uses OpenGL instead of Direct3D so it's not necessarily a problem. A fix for that would probably be to reinstall DirectX and then reinstall the latest video driver.

However, just as a quick test, run WWIIOL Settings and uncheck "enable sound". See if the game loads without Enable Sound checked. If it does, we know it's sound related. If that's the case make sure the sound device you're using is selected in WWIIOL Settings instead of "primary sound driver". This will at the very least narrow it down some.

If you haven't uninstall and reinstalled using the full version then that may be another thing to try (assuming it's not a sound problem).

Did the sound thing and also did a unistall and fresh full reinstall before you even ask me. Game will still not load.

now what????????????????

The only thing i can think of and I am not a computer or coder guru by any means is that there is something damaged in the launch code.

Well, it's certainly possible that something was added to the patch that doesn't jive with your system. However, nothing jumps out in the readme.

Two drivers that I would install:

1) Video driver (even though you have the latest one, it's strange that it's failing the Direct3D test): http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html

2) Motherboard chipset driver. The last one listed on this page is the best to use, called "Retro chipset VIA 4in1 drivers". http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1070

If it does seem to be a bug in the code, I guess we'll see how widespread it is by posts in the forum (I don't work for CRS...I just mean us players).

game worked just fine before the patch

can't even get it to play in off line mode now.

oh and yes i did another uninstall and reinstall of game. still game will just not launch.

no error message

It want launch by the way the cursor is acting. you can see it trying to load but the screen refreshes and the little hours glass goes away.

I give. Can you give me estimated time of CSR tech support?

Or do i just waste a month worth of subscription. Will I get credited for this problem since there is nothing on my end causing it?

Thanks for trying you are the only one who seemed to act and you are a volunteer. Where is CRS?

Yes i did turn a ticket into playgate. no response. I love this game

The ticket system is the way to deal with CRS support. I'm not sure how long it will take but I can tell you that Friday was the last day for their support guy. He was training someone new. I would expect a fairly fast response...he wouldn't want to get behind just starting out with support. He's worked at CRS before in the past so he knows his stuff or who to talk to...he just didn't work support, I don't think.

I sent a support ticket yesterday regarding this same problem. They told me to update my graphic drivers, and if that doesn't fix the problem send your dxdiag to Krieger.

Did you launch ww2.exe directly from the folder?

Can you launch settings from the folder?

Just one game folder?

Delete/re-install video driver with another version, like v77.77?

Any problems with other games launching..., as in bad ram?

Defrag..., are the system files/unmoveable files broken-up?

System file can be defragged with a free prog.

Keep trying stuff,

Ratszo

Possibly as little as one bit of bad RAM--old executable put something there that was non-critical i.e. graphics, which was never noticed due to graphics complexity--new executable puts something there that is critical i.e. a code operation or address, so execution hangs during graphics unpacking.

One verification approach: run a comprehensive memory test.

Another verification approach: swap around the positions of the RAM on the motherboard, and see if the behavior changes due to the address of the bad bit changing.

Another verification approach: swap around the positions of the RAM on the motherboard, and see if the behavior changes due to the address of the bad bit changing.

no way ...............never mind i give......... sorry but to jump through all the hoops after the game ran great before the patch. now it want load. Oh and i have tried other drivers. So i guess its time to cut my losses. Not going to spend money on a game that frustrate me like this. I have done as much on my end as I can and have only heard from a volunteer tech support. Great tech support. Or should I say great volenteer thanks again. But it amazes me that even after turning a ticket in I have yet to hear anything from the people who debts my credit card account every month.

Any ways it was fun while it lasted.

respectfully yours,

drill
