Tutorials for vehicles/weapons?

5 posts in this topic

HI ,

Im back after a 5-6 year absence. :)

Im enjoying the game , but this time around I would like to try to learn more about the vehicles, aircraft and weapon systems.

The other day I was at an airbase when I noticed an nme tank shooting at the planes leaving the base, so I spawned an ATG soldier, I got told soon after by another player "that ATG wont do anything against a sherman".

It's good that he told me, but it dawned on me that I have no idea about that kind of stuff.

Is there a resource anywhere that explains some of this? like what inf ATG's are good for?, what tanks are best against certain types of tank?, which Anti Tank gun to choose against what tank? , or indeed how to even identify types of vehicle, that kind of stuff.

cheers.

Hm there's lots of guides out there, lots of broken links. I've managed to find a few but they're pretty old.

http://rgjtraining.webs.com/quicksapguide.htm for sap spots on axis armor, no idea if it's still good.

http://bazsosclass.proboards.com/ for a few other guides, seems to be more axis stuff against allied stuff.

The wiki has some useful stuff, if not generic descriptions on how to use some equipment.

I did find this in an older forum posting:

NOTES:

- These are near-perfect (90*) engagements. With angled shots I will not shoot unless closer range or until I have a better angle.

- Where you see 2pdr and 6pdr, this applies to both anti-tank guns and tank-mounted weapons

- This does not include kills to main guns

Sdkfz. 232:

- All weapons at any practical range you can get a hit

- Front, sides, rear

- Vickers / R35 should engage <200m any aspect

Panzer II Ausf. C:

- All weapons at any practical range you can get a hit

- Front, sides, rear

- Excludes Vickers

- R35 should engage <200m any aspect

Panzer 38t:

- Front, sides, rear

- Excludes Vickers

- Sa Mle 1934 or Panhard <400m frontal

Panzer III Ausf. F:

- R35 non-frontal, <200m flank, <100m rear

- H39 frontal <400m, <800m flank, <400m rear

- S35, Char, 2pdr <1.25km (* I recommend <800m for the A13 as you may not get a kill shot first and 1 hit will roast you)

- Sa Mle 1934 or Panhard <300m frontal

- Any practical range for other weapons

- Excludes Vickers

Panzer III Ausf. H:

- R35 non-frontal, <100m flank, non-rear

thanks!, yes those definitely help.

That second link is exactly what I was looking for.

I have also found that a lot of links lead to nowhere.

I wonder if any offline mode has any of these vehicles in it to use as target practice?

Yes but you won't be able to practice killing anything, I'd suggest using the training server. It's a bit wonky in some of the flags due to messed up ToEs, but if you have a second account you can spawn one allied side and one axis and practice that way.
