SIDE RESTRICTION DELAY - Unnecessary!

22 posts in this topic

I am so tired of the "SIDE RESTRICTION DELAY". I for 1 can tell you that all it does is waste time in my life that I cant get back. I will never play the opposite side because of a 2:00+ wait. Honestly, I am not sure that anyone logging in will sway which side they play because of a time delay, so why have it?

Now, I have a very small window of opportunity to sit down and immerse myself into a world that allows me to forget about reality for 30 minutes at a time. Based on a 2:00 minute side restriction and then the usual 1:00 minute spawn delay that goes with it, you have taken 10% of my pleasure away from me every time i try to escape and relax. In other words, every 10 times I play, I give 1 away!

I have been in this game since Night time was really night (you couldn't see your hand in front of your face), When a filled up truck with Infantry was what we called our mobile FRU, when we had convoys of 20+ tanks, driving down the road to stock up on(resupply) at closer towns for a grand attack, When a tank could take down a FB, and when SMG and Rifle were your only choice. I had no children, I had no grey hairs and I was about 50 pounds lighter.

I have had opinions, hopefully more constructive than complaining, but this time I must complain. This loss of time can not be justified! The lopsidedness of logged in players will always be an issue. The attempt of using the character issue of patience on your paying customers is a poor attempt to alleviate the issue!

However, and I hope it's not true, I did hear that if you have a builder account, you never get a side or spawn restriction... this is nothing less than extortion!

Regards,

Hanah

lol an unbalanced game is even less fun because their will be no one to shoot at.

balance is an issue that needs to be fixed

the rats are trying their danmedest to fix it

im sure they will come up with something in addition to what they have done

play the underpop side and you will not have any delay in joining the fight

I have no problem with spawn delay. Look if one side brings more players online it's easier to get in a town. After death you will be able to spawn directly, how the opposite should defense with lower pop. If there is a small timer the get a chance to find frus etc and will not be overruned as quickly.

Be careful with death and you have not to wait :)

According to CRS the side delay (not spawn delay) has had a positive affect on side imbalance. They have no reason to lie about it and impose something that can frustrate some of the player base. In other words, if it was not working they would remove it.

Mt suggestion to solve this issue is to put a setting in the game that lets a player voluntarily lock themselves into a side for a campaign and if you do, you do not get side delay. The flip side being you are unable to change sides during a campaign. Between campaigns you can lock yourself to the other side or unlock yourself from either. If you choose the option for a campaign to be able to switch sides then you have to deal with side delay. If you change the setting mid campaign it has no effect until the following campaign.

Xoom answered this but you FTP players may not have seen it in the Barracks.

http://forums.battlegroundeurope.com/showthread.php?t=460505&page=3

Use case example of new settings' date=' with the side lock delay:

Initial wait time: 180 seconds

State of mind: Shows users that there is an imbalance and encourages people to switch to the underpopulated side immediately. Side loyal players will wait and not be penalized to the extreme once they are in.

First spawn: 30 seconds max

Second spawn: 30 seconds max

Third spawn: 30 seconds max

Total: 270 seconds (maximum delays).

Note: Maximum delays are the peak, and may not always be at this level based on the total percentage of the imbalance.

Ingame population effect: Numbers are balanced, population above last year averages.

Use case example of old settings, without the side lock delay:

Initial wait time: 15 seconds

State of mind: Sweet we've got the overpop, 15 seconds is no big deal I won't worry about helping the underpopulated side. HOLY CRAP THIS SPAWN DELAY, NOPE! (logs out).

First spawn: 2-300 seconds spawn delay

Second spawn: 2-300 seconds spawn delay

Third spawn: 2-300 seconds spawn delay

Total: 915 seconds (maximum delays)

Note: Maximum delays are the peak, and may not always be at this level. However because the total maximum is higher the length of the delay would be higher by default.

Ingame population effect: Numbers relatively balanced, population levels lower than today.

Net seconds removed with new settings: 645

I agree with some points. CRS should set a side lock for a campaign. But spawn delay should be activated too. If all Allies choose sidelock, the axis will be overruned with allied overpop with no spawn delay.

Option first two days of campaign you can change side.

+Sidelock will disable players who looks into enemy chat etc.

+Winner team joining disabled

-maybe players of loosing side will not longer login til campaign is over

Other option sidelock for 24 hours.

No' date=' it's called "an incentive."[/quote']

Incentive???? SO it is ok to have no delay if you pay more... This is what you call incentive??? I have been in this game for to long to listen to this nonsense! I didn't write on this board to kiss anyones butt, I just wanted to express my opinion for what I think is wrong!

There are tons of nit picking I could do...But they dont bother me...This Bothers me!

I do not believe that the Side lock has improved anything... No one I know switches sides because of a 2 minute lock, or because "they want to make the game more fair". Come on now, ridiculous!

It's a waste of time, that is all!

As far as I am aware, no, paying does not remove the delay. (Unless it's for Builder accounts, but keep in mind Builders are special 'community contributor' accounts)

The incentive dog3 speaks of is the incentive to play on the underpopulated side, but there's nothing stopping side-loyal players then getting up and grabbing a drink or watching some cat videos for 2 minutes, because they're not the intended target of side-switch delay.

The point is to entice non-loyal players who are just logging in to play the game (a majority of the population, i'd argue) to go to the less-populated side to try and balance the sides without massive spawn delays. And, as Kilemall posted before, it's working at that.

It's interesting to note that Hitler initially did not want to defeat and conquer Britain, but rather form an anti-Soviet alliance with them and the West. The historical series of events led to a change in that approach, but that was what the National Socialists first envisioned. The Communists were the enemies all along.

I'd take 5 cold wars over siding with ****ing notzees.

A good notzee is a dead notzee.

Humanity has a blood debt to the Soviet/Russian people for cleansing this **** from the face of the Earth.

Now, for the topic on hand, yeah I hate this side lock thing... so lame haha

It's strange, when you realize Stalin pretty much idolized Uncle Adolph. If the Reich made nice nice with Stalin and waited a few years before opening the eastern front, they would have had jets, nukes, ballistic missiles. Stalin would have sat there and watched his doom coming, without a clue. Then we in the rest of the world...well...we would have been pretty much fooked.

F'real... The amount the Russian people suffered was almost beyond comprehension. Too bad they had to suffer under someone even worse than Adolph. It's estimated Stalin killed something on the order of 20 million people through purges and such.

Yeah, the two faces of the same coin.

But still, without the Russians, the West would have been forced to sacrifice much more to destroy the cancer that was Notzeesm. Would it even have been willing to do so? Who knows really and I don't even want to consider an alternate future where some kind of peace was made between Notzee Germany and the West.

The communists also wanted help to contain the Axis but the West spurned them. The West basically wanted Germany and the USSR to fight each other to death without having to lift a finger, and both chose a temporary alliance rather then accede to the West's playbook.

As it happened, things went the West's way anyway, but not without a horrible economic and blood price.
