why is it? (offset?? lag??)

First thing is first, I am not making any allegations on anyone cheating. This is simply a question so I can understand maybe some mechanics or whatever.

Just now, about 10 minutes ago, I was in Aarschott, trying to be sneaky, and I was hiding. initially I ran into spawnable but then realized their was enemy their so I hid, until I let it cool for a few mins, then I crawled back just to catch the corner. after a few seconds of capping, dead. I coulda seen that coming lol. But what I don't understand is, why didn't I hear him? he was running when he killed me. So this brings me to my question.

Why does it always seem to be the same players either a) not dying B) not making any noise c) shooting through walls?

I get C is a lag issue, and I really don't understand what "offset" is.

And now for the name dropping, no I'm not attacking, just pointing out.

Always seems Mobius, no matter what I do, no matter how much I "keep moving" will be unheard and unseen when killed. offset? lag?

But this isn't just infantry, for example the other day, laid a few broadside shots on a stuart, thought to myself, yeah he has to be dead, then he stops point at me and wham. not blaming the player once again, but it usually seems to be the same ones.

Was just wondering what causes this, is it my oppenonents computer? is it my computer? is it the server?

I've also found it hard on some players armor, that even when they are standing still, it is impossible to sap, even with them sitting still, my charge just wont place (lets be real, probably in the wrong spot anyways). just wondering why all these things happen first, and why does it keep reoccurring with the same players?? like, EXACTLY the same players. Just a few answer plz. thank you and sorry if someone feels threatened or attacked...

lol it's funny you mention this blimpy because it's the same issue I have with you. Most of the time when I'm solo capping in a cp, I'll hide around a corner or laying down on the first floor. I always die to you for some reason lately, and what happens is you literally start shooting before entering the room/building. I'll die and then I see a german walk in. I'm not saying you're cheating, definitely not, but it always infuriates me that I die to someone who's still outside the cp.

Blimpy2, I have you on my "WTF list", reserved for special ones. I'm not kidding. So I'm with Usmfan08 on considering funny your comment.

Anyway, I still think 99% of the players dont cheat at all. It's just server issues.

And let me say that Mobius is one of the BEST inf players out there, specially on defensive roles.

I have no doubt i've killed a many players the same way they killed me, and yes, its infuriating when I'm the receiving end. I guess that's why I would love to know the issue behind it, is it all just server lag? and I apologize for those type of kills, past and future =P. You can usually tell when you get one of those kills cuz you'll sprint in and see an enemy and they wont fire so you'll just kill them, at least that's what it looks like on the killers screen, you just standing there or lying there.

So, if this is a lag issue, so does that mean I should start aiming a little in front of tanks where I want to hit them? just wondering lol

I know not everyone can be a cheater or hacker haha, I myself am not smart enough for that kinda stuff lmao. like I said, not attacking anyone, and yes, I know Mobius is a great player from whoever said it above. Just frustrating when their may be 5-6 of capping bunker and we get whipped by someone lol. I know its no persons fault, just frustrating haha. So server lag is the issue then?

We all know infantry lag is bad in 1.34

It appears to be a lot better in 1.35, but won't really know that until it gets tested with lots of players on it.

As for some people being silent. Well a lot of us use the walk key when entering CP's as that means you can't here us approaching. The down side of walking is it takes away the big advantage you get from the lag when running.

As for the offset/clipping bug, it's just that, a bug. We now know how to replicate it so hopefully the Rats can get it squashed soon.

they are two different issues, offset is when you see people coming through the wall next to the door or visa versa, or have difficulty getting up the stairs etc, it can be fixed by rebooting.

lag... is what it is, you just see people late or visa versa , sometimes very late. I once shot a guy and saw him run out the room and up the stairs before he died, mostly depends on were you from. you can always move to Texas. when somebody has both which can and is often be the case.. then...

Some say its better to keep moving in a depot rather than stand still....something about the code catching up or something like that.

Who knows really. Frustrating, yes. Happens on both sides and it not really a cheating issue just a game issue.

Brave post Blimpy, because you absolutely had to know this would be turned around on you as someone doing it as well. Games had a lot of issues lately. I had someone kill me in a cp yesterday that moved so fast I couldnt turn fast enough and this was someone I heard coming so I was prepared. And it wasnt the teleporting jump either, my computer rendered them smoothly past me but about 3x the sprint speed. And yes it was someone considered an "expert". My guess is the experts are just better at utilizing some of the games flaws. Dont know why anyone would cheat, that would be boring wouldnt it!

I know it happens to both sides. And yes, I've heard if you're in a cup that's hot, keep moving and so and so happens. I hope 1.35 fixes these issues, as it said it would :). Once again, I hope no one feels attacked, I only mentioned one name and it was only for example purposes, I know he's a great player and not questioning that. I think most players commenting on this thread are great players and have died to them a many of times. :) just questioned the problem rather then the player :)

yep, it's an odd thing to get used to, that lag in this game can give you an advantage, were in most fps games its a distinct disadvantage.

its nobody's fault, but it can be as frustrating as hell...it dose seem to have become a lot worse of late, and if CRS can find out why and minimise it....the better this game will be.

Run fast when in buildings and hug the corners. You will usually kill the guy defending the room 90% of the time because of warp lag. :cool:

What a strange coincidence, I've played this game 9 years and have NEVER been sent a message to logout in game. I posted my above comment today (which totals now 16 forum posts over all these years), not sure what the issue is with the comment, and voila, I get a message that Im offsetting and showing through walls and stairs. This was in Rethel a few minutes ago, I wasnt in any cps to be on stairs, and wasnt showing through walls since I was basically running through the streets to get to the AB. Amazing timing I guess . . .

There is no doubt something going on odd somewhere, no idea where though. I've guarded a lot of CPs in my time, and it is a minuscule handful of people that seem to be able to do this.

If it was just random lag, network, offset etc. It would not be the same people, it would be many different names, and this is not the case, it is a very select few.

That being said, it has gotten worse this last patch or two.

Lag and offset issue's are problem with the 1.34 code and everytime we make an new release in 1.34 makes the issue worse.

We have been close testing 1.35 with the builders and have made great improvements! The coder team is working feverishly to get it to open beta so we can really load it with players and make sure that evilness is tamed.

who said it had to be random, it could just as easily be specific to location, service provider, path to server, equipment, drivers, or a myriad of other things any of which could make it seem like a select few to one group while other players or groups could have different specific lists. you could even be on one.

We know of this and once we have taken care of our code issue's we will see these players and will deal with them when found.

If anyone thinks someone is doing something sneaky use the dot report system in game with a brief description of what is going on and an online GM will look into it.

Remember it is our policy that the GM's never replys to the player reporting. That would be up to XOOM or ME to reply if needed.

Offset can be replicated, 2 builders figured out how and forwarded the results to the Rats.

A lot of infantry heroes are gonna see their K/D drop by a lot when they can't kill people who have no way to fight back...lol.

Hit the nail on the head. It happens, I know it happens. Obvious to visually detect if your looking for it, but no way CRS is going to be able to verify it legitimately in my opinion. To many excuses will be offered as to "bad" lag.

Several months back I was noticing some odd behavior with several of my killers. Same patterns emerged. Not every time but quite a lot in CERTAIN circumstances mainly inside CP/ AB's. I would hear them then see them enter the CP and then I was dead and they were behind me.

I googled "lag" to try and understand how it effected games and different stuff and the LAG SWITCH came right up and I was like, well well....this is interesting and may explain the weird behavior.

So in conclusion do I think some players use one? - YES, but im sure its a very very small number and only used in close quarters like CP and AB buildings. All other anomalies I chalk up to $hitty old code and natural server ping issues.
