With the recent enemy enhancements to EWS (early warning system), OKM Oberkommando der Marine) has suspended all high seas operations, as ordered by OKW (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht).  As such, MSK will be redeployed to ground efforts.  Sailing days are done.  While saddened by the turn of events, the unit will fight on.

First deployment was to Douai with the 16th infantry division; covering the town, MSK alone repulsed the first two probes with 2 kills and no losses.  An engineering team quickly rebuilt the machine gun pit destroyed by attacking forces.  After a quiet period, the probe resumed assisted by a tank flanking N, which resulted in Heer reinforcements to town.  A struggle over the N CP ended in another enemy KIA with no losses to us.  Rebuffed a third time, the enemy called the attack off.

Second deployment was to reclaim the abandoned town of Avri on the S flank, where the enemy had amassed 3 divisions.  It started with a demolition operation out of KM 4zf, our engr team destroyed an enemy outpost.  Then a short truck trip where we destroyed enemy security forces, resulting in the liberation of Avri with no casualties.  This allowed the 17th infantry division to threaten the enemies S division. (subsequently, capturing Roye and trapping 2 enemy regiments, then routing them off map)

Third mission sent us NW a few kilometers to Villers, where an enemy raiding force captured some southern bldgs, this was quickly liberated, we settled in on the S side of town to wait for additional probes.  Multiple attempts where made, and a few infiltrators made it into town, but were dispatched as found.

Fourth mission of the day assisted in the Albert attack a few kilometers NE of Villers, we setup ZOC - finding little resistance we moved forward to assault N CP, there encountering heavy resistance. Killing an ATG, SMG and wounding one other SMG.  Wounds forced a withdrawal to the ZOC.  At the ZOC, an enemy was immediately encountered, a quick rifle shot ended his sortie, our engr team then moved to N CP to build security pits.  Recon of NW area resulted in one more kill before returning to the outpost.  Allies pushed back and retook the town, assaulting the N CP once again, 1 sniper was killed, but KIA near CP.

Fifth mission sent the engr team N to Oostende, reports of a possible attack meant coastal defense units needed to be checked, 2 coastal batteries were repaired to operating order.

Unit awards:

kagk: Defense; persistent defense in both Douai and Villers.

audimrfy: Initiative; assisting w/Avricourt FB bust, driving FRU to Avri for capture, then driving to Roye to capture both link CPs; enabling our forces to take Roye, trapping 2 US flags.  Subsequent reinforcement by 17th division resulted in the capture of Chaul and routing 2 US flags.

delems: Combat Badge; wounds sustained in Albert attack.

Casualties:

Enemy kills 8, losses 1

Giving thanks, we’d hoped for a quiet day on the front.  Not to be.

First mission, allies pressing Douai, so we deployed a rifle team for defense, enemy E side infantry assaulted with tank support, calls for help unheeded.  Cleared the bldg a couple times, but was cut down by et and ei.  With no support, MSK left the town. (1 kill, 2 KIA)

Second deployment was S to assist the attack on Moreuil; setting an outpost NE, we brought up ATG support and infantry to help the Tiger.  There, 3 zooks were killed going for the Tiger.  Enemy brought up more infantry and tank, with no support, our outpost was overrun.  We setup 1km N of old HQ with Stug and ATG support, the enemy tank and infantry were eliminated and we once again move the ZOC up to the ridge line.  However, ei found our HQ post, delems died twice attempting to save it, with again no support.  Again we were overrun.  With casualties mounting and no reinforcements, we withdrew the squad. (4 kills, 2 KIA; also lost 2 ATGs, killed 2 et and 1 ei kill)

Third deployment was area defense in the towns of Bapume, Villers and Vitry light enemy probes, some with tank support.  The few enemy found were quickly shot and the town remained secure.  A quick turkey-day snack consisted of egg rolls and peppermint ice-cream covered in chocolate sauce - a pleasant surprise for frontline troops. (2 kills, 0 KIA)

The day ended at Amiens, first holding our outpost enabling the attack and suppressing the enemies outpost from Moriel and finally (after capturing the town) defending the S CPs and liberating the dock.  It was an early day as we pulled out for some turkey dinner. (3 kills, 2 KIA)

Casualties: enemy kills 10 , losses 6

The morning saw our forces had captured Dunkerque, a new deep water port; however, with the beaching of DDs per OKM, this mattered little.  We headed out on trucks to start the day.

First mision started off with an engr team to Oostende and Roub to work defensive pits, after that we settled in on the E side of Roubaix.  Allies pushed the town hard, capturing the W side, and briefly the E side, and then assaulting the bunker.  But, were unable to finish as reinforcements arrived to clear them out. (6 kills, 0 KIA)

Second mission was to Bergues for ZOC WSW, scouting revealed good defense; a break ensued - WSU vis UoW; the battle ended.  With WSU sadly routed, we returned to the battlefield, assisting the Tourney FB, a 232 sortie killed 2 rifles and wounded 1 mortar man. (2 kills, 0 KIA)

Third deployment we were moved SSE to Hazebrook, where again we were treated with peppermint ice-cream, however, the allies interrupted our enjoyment.  A sharp firefight ensued with us booting them out of town, then we finished our meal.  Not deterred, the allies pushed in one more time, where we lost one to a sniper. (2 kills, 1 KIA)

Our fourth deployment finally sent us to a port town, the newly acquired Dunkerque, though, there would be no sailing.  A rifle team setup W side of town, there allies made 1 determined assault then moved to the main part of town.  A sniper remained, so we kept our heads down.  Meanwhile, the support section setup an ATG near the enemies post, claiming 4 et kills before being overrun by 2 ei and 3 et.  After a lull, ei, ea and eDD hit the W side once again, a short firefight broke out with allies even getting into the bldg; we pushed them out cleared the perimeter.  Determined, they assaulted the bldg a couple more times, bringing in an et SW to support.  Each attempt was pushed back.  Thought they finished, but they gave it one more shot, this time with paras, but elite units weren’t enough - all killed on their final assault to the bldg.  While the allies had not yet called the attack off, we had been engaged for 4.5+ hours of battle, as such, MSK was pulled back to Oostende for some well deserved R&R.  The outcome of the battle undecided.  (9 kills, 0 KIA; also killed 4 et and lost 1 ATG)

Most of the squad remained on leave today, just the support team headed out. Engrs building MG and ATG pits in various towns as we captured them: Berg, Armen, LaBass and Lens.  While the ATG team destroyed 12 enemies (including 7 tanks at Poix in one sortie).

Late in the day, the squad was transferred to Berg where we did some recon and patrolling, killing 1 W side of town.  Once our engr team destroyed their outposts to Berg, we setup SW.  An enemy truck w/ATG came, but was tracked and destroyed, the LMG team got 6 enemy kills before dying.  Setting up an AA gun, we waited for a 2nd attack, sure enough, a hot drop arrived; the AA gun got the truck and 2 engrs.  Reinforcements were slow to arrived and the AA crew died to enemy fire.  But our outpost was saved, barely.  Moments later a 2nd enemy truck arrived S, we hunkered down and got ready.  A sudden fierce firefight broke out and ei appeared, a IIC took out a zooka, but ei still arrived and starting blowing our outpost, the rifle team got the engr, but died.  The IIC then fired on a low flying Hurricane, shooting it down, woot, 20mm HE.  Expecting more enemy, we deployed both AA and a sniper team and laid in wait.  Sure enough, ea arrived, hitting 2, we died to a bomb.  Undeterred, we spent the next hour on AA, shooting down 2 more ea, before cmdr being straffed. (9 kills, 4 losses).  One last engr mission to help rebuild Watten defensive positions and it was off to the barracks.

Unit awards:
eaglepco; ATG ace mission
eaglepco; LMG ace mission
audimrfy; 88 ace mission

Days casualties: enemy kills 9, losses 4 — (ATG/LMG team killed another 28 with 13 losses)

Again, the main squad stayed back while the weapons sections headed out.  The engrs went to Calais to build defensive positions.  The ATG team headed to Fixcourt, taking a position up in the forest, SW of town.  With HTs, Pak 40s and Flak 36s, we shelled the town and destroyed ets and aa guns.  The 88 was lost to long range et fire, while the park 40 team RTB (4 kills 12 hits) after the town fell.

Next the mortar section went to Lumbers to aid in the assault on the bunker.  We laid an HE barrage and smoke screen until town was captured.

Next mission was ATG support to Ardres attack, we moved in SE, but sniper picked off HT and AA gun took out ATG crew, so we moved to the spawn CP - there we secured spawn and then moved on bunker - capping W side. (0 kills, 1 loss)

We then deployed engrs to Marquis to see how it was doing - town was wrapping up, but we lost one to tank HE shelling.  There was talk of England attack, but with the OKM orders about benched DDs, MSK remained on the mainland.  Engr team also destroyed enemy out posts at Abbe and Samer.  (0 kills, 1 loss)

Allied attacked Calais soon after, so we deployed the main squad there for defense, killing 1 enemy paratrooper.  Afterwards, part of the squad sailed DDs from Dunk to Calais, under strict orders not to engage, but simply transport ships to Calais port.  And, while we were sailing, Heer forces captured Abbeville, causing the allies to surrender en masse.  The war is over!  (1 kill, 0 losses)

Days casualties: enemy kills 1, losses 2 — (ATG team took out a number of units in Fixcourt)
Axis victory declared, map 130 complete.
