      Volunteer PHP Developer wanted to revive the Gazette!   07/24/2019

      We're looking to properly revive the World@War Gazette and need a solid PHP developer to help take some work forward. If you have some skills with PHP and are looking for some experience and to bring important home page news / recognition for individual players back to WWII Online, I'd like to hear from you! Freighters as tender

Our Freighters should have a natural function as tenders to all other ships (and ground forces). The supply radius should be a quarter cable. A cable is 185 meter so say 50 meter supply radius for all Freighters. 50 meter is a surprisingly short distance when at sea.

This is a great suggestion. The transports is the Trucks of the sea, able to load rediculous far more then a truck (they carry even far more then a train too). Transport ships should of course have a resupply range just as trucks.

Seconded, most definitely...I don't play Navy much - I just assumed Freighters ALREADY had the ability to resupply DDs and Fairmiles.  Please make this happen soon.

This is another "team-player rewarding" suggestion that Xoom and his brave knights need to look at. The naval gameplay gets too little attention and no luv. :mellow:

We have a bunch of interesting naval additions both in terms of gameplay and of platforms in the works, alas we are slightly understaffed and overworked atm but hope springs eternal. Am taking notes of all suggestions.

Is the freighter still plugging along at 15 knots?  If so, why not increase it to the same speed (25 knots) as the fairmile?

It may be ahistorical but having taken freighters across the channel for invasions . . . that is a looooooong trip to be sunk meters from shore.  Yes, I still think about that mission, lol.

I'd go further- freighters as spawn points/NMS (naval mobile spawn), to create convoys and escorting destroyers. Has to be X nm from target for ships to spawn in. 

Maybe treat each freighter as a minibrigade, with 4 trucks and X infantry for all inf units, or maybe 1 truck and 3 tanks, those spawn in X distance or closer for coastal targets, or 2:1/3:1 ratio of guns.

 

Or they are naval brigades and can support the spawning of 1 destroyer 1 FMB and 2 freighters each.

That's another very good idea I have plugged earlier. My idea on that is that Freighters should be able to place a FreigherFortifiedMobileSpawn (FFMS) or AmphibiousMobileSpawn (AMS) from where we also can spawn heavy equipment like Armour and heavy artillery. But that's another thread. ;)
