      Seeking Squad Leaders!   04/09/2017

      Soldiers!

We are seeking Squad Leaders to volunteer their squads to help us test the upcoming Squad Forums system. This system will integrate squads who wish to participate into a self-sustained "forum within a forum." You will be able to add members to your squad, assign permissions, and create forums/calendar events on your own. The idea behind this system is part of our commitment to support squads as a integral part of our community. This service will be offered free of charge to all squads of World War II Online upon launch. Our goal is to offer all of the services a squad off-site forum can offer but free of charge and tied in to our existing forum service. So what do you need tested? We need willing volunteers to test the whole system - make forums, post threads, assign permissions, etc. The idea is to have several squads giving it a test run to point out any flaws before we launch it publicly. What are the requirements? We are ideally looking for medium to large squads - Ideally ten people or so plus, but smaller squads feel free to apply - and a willingness to use our platform. It's important to note (as of now - these may be included at a later date) we are unable to convert posts from a private forum if your squad previously used one, and you (or your XO's and recruiters) will need to assign individual members permissions. It is entirely possible that in the future this system will be automatically linked to the game's squad roster, but as of now developer priorities are elsewhere (1.37 and steam, w00t!) How do I sign up? PM me ( @Dodger ) on the forums, or email me at dodger@playnet.com - Please indicate your squad name and how many members you have. I will get back to you with more instructions.

      Recruiting drive.   04/16/2017

With the anticipated influx of new players on the heels of this summer's Steam release, there is a reasonable expectation that forum traffic will increase. I'm looking for volunteers, not just to moderate, but to help answer new players' questions or direct them toward the correct answers. The forums may be a player's first contact with the game and we want to ensure that it is a positive experience. A happy player is a player who sticks around and the more new players we can retain, the more resources we will have for development.
With that in mind, we are looking for current players with a positive attitude and posting history. PM me if you are interested.

Sticking Views and Controle inputs (new)

6 posts in this topic

Hi-

I have HOTAS flight stick, new'ish, and while I am flying I often get stuck views and flight control inputs that can be unstuck or do unstick but they last long enough to kill me on occasion or contribute to me getting killed , is this a known issue with my equipment or a Game issue?

I never had this problem with my CH stick.

O- it does not happen on the ground only when I am flying and typically only if their are a lot of players in the area.

Hi brady.

I dont think this is a known issue. I have never heard of this happening. What stick do you use?

Hey @brady , is it possible you're hitting your free look key {default is N} at the same time you're using the POV hat? Have you tried remapping your POV hat views in your keymapper views? Perhaps their is some overlap with what the stick sees as buttons.

This is a late reply, sorry, haven't been around here for a while.

Yes, I've had this happen with my CH HOTAS. Example: After pressing right view on a HAT switch, then releasing, view is still stuck looking right. If memory serves me correctly, pressing and releasing the same view clears it up. And in fact, pressing and releasing any view will likely do the same.

I believe the CH HAT positions work in two steps: pressing a HAT activates a view, and the act of releasing is actually like a separate keypress to reset the view. I believe the game misses the release (keypress), because like the OP has stated, this only happens in WWIIOL.

A possible fix to this may be to reprogram your HOTAS to use all number pad view keys. Example: program right HAT to the number pad 6 instead of the default behavior (as a HAT switch). This should work because the number pad view keys are a "press and hold", there is no "release". Press and hold keys will keep repeating until released like this: "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww". This could have the adverse affect of typing "666666" in the chat bar, instead of looking right *if* your text chat is open (not sure about this, check it in game).

How do I deal with this? I just chaulk it up as an oddity with WWIIOL, and flick a HAT switch if this happens. And yeah, I've crashed a few vehicles due this this too.

Disclaimer: I am no expert here, and may in fact have it ALL WRONG. But I think the above is true, or close to it.

If you still want you use your hat switch, perhaps a program such as Joy To Key ( LINK ) might help.  You can use that to interpret joystick input as keypresses.  You could map your hat switch to a set of key combinations you won't otherwise use, such as [ALT] + F5 through [ALT] + F12.  Then just set your views in the keymapper to those combinations and VOILA!
