Seemingly random game freeze - have to use task manager to end process

11 posts in this topic

Hey fellow WW2OL BE players,

Longtime on and off again player since 2011, and I've run into an issue I haven't ever had before: installed the game today and have, in the course of about an hour of gameplay, had four separate seemingly random incidents where the game froze and stopped responding. No error messages or CTD - I had to alt+tab+del and open the task manager to end the process.

I'd normally grit my teeth and bear it, but I don't want to keep wasting supplies by having to close out in the middle of the field of battle. I did a cursory search and couldn't find any similar topics, but feel free to slap my hand if there's one out there and I missed it. I also followed the sticky and have the log file below, along with dxdiag info.

I appreciate any help you all can provide.

P.S. You know what's worse than driving for 20 minutes in a panzer to the AO and then getting shwacked right off? Driving for 20 minutes to the AO and then freezing without any combat :(

Lol yes, well, I didn't exactly think "upgrading" to Windows 10 would help matters. And I'm not terribly interested in rolling back to XP or something just to get this to work.

If you can try and connect to by wire .... maybe the wifi is not sending all the packets clearing to you PC.

Had the same thing happen on Windows 10 after 5 hours of playing,  Might be the old memory leak coming back again.

I tried OHM's idea and it's worked so far (thanks!). Played for about 2 hours this morning and didn't have any issues.

Hopefully last update to this post to finish it out:
I haven't had a single crash since connecting to internet via a wired connection. I've tested it over various playing periods (30 min, 1 hr, 2 hrs, etc) and no further issues.

Thanks for all the help!
