Less run 'n' gun and more emphasis on squad tactics...?

One problem i am running into a lot is many new people are turning the UI off entirely, which prevents talking to them, organizing, helping etc.

I dont think everyone wants solid snake, but you can yell and yell and yell, and if they aren't listening, it won't do any good.

I have my squad set on open recruit, try to get the noobs into the action, try to reach out to them on squad chat,
Set mission orders, set waypoints set an FM, set up defenses, sit there and watch the map and try to guide and help people rather than playing sometimes.
Even try running multi crewed tanks and stuff for them.

But when they simply aren't hearing you, you can only do so much no matter what tool you have.

I also have a suspicion that there is a good number of them that may not speak english and so have no idea what is being said anyways?

turning UI off completely: many new players do this because they are used to how modern games look and its more immersive - ie - full screen, any persistent ui cooly & discreetly transparent and other ui not there, or pop-on (usually with audio cues - ie. like pms but same could be done for HC or ML messages)  or customizable  on or off  - as has been said many times - UI needs a rethink and/or at least a cosmetic makeover - for new players its clunky, old and ugly.

trust me ive spamed them with PM's before so i know they are getting the teletype sound.
From looking at some other games, seems perhaps to simply be the state of things, unless you are in a close knit squad game comms are an optional
annoyance rather anything else.

Some are not hearing the teletype sound because when i look at them in steam, they are busy blasting black veil brides or some such.
Never quite understood how you play a game with some other unrelated audio blasting, but seems a popular thing nowadays?
Doesnt work for me, i need to hear why i'm dying.

This isn't every new person of course, but seems to be a largish amount.

redoing the UI and perhaps even having it support open LUA is fine and all
but heck, if you turned off everything BUT that chatbox, at least you'd still see the important stuff.
In any multiplayer game the chat box is the one thing i do not get rid of.

For everyone person willing to do this, there are 5 who just want action fast.

Those are called Targets and Diversions.  If it's your enemy, they are just targets for your team.  If they are on your side, they are valuable to expose fire from enemy teams, who you can then kill.  Those who only want fast action will usually get it, from someone's muzzle.

The Germans had a phrase for this in WW2.  Die Glückliche Zeit  (the Happy Time) .  Don't worry, be happy.

Dambusters used to stream an 'in-flight' movie on our website whilst doing RDP raids.  Teamspeak was like "Mystery Science Theatre 3000 @ 15000ft."

Now that sounds fun.

Those were the days!  I'm very glad to have experienced the tail end of Dambuster glory as an escort fighter.  Red, ben, sniper, etc.; so many good memories.

Aye.  I was just a n00b bomber in those days.

One thing that would lessen this problem is a specific form of area capture.

If the game had a specific form of area capture,  where players have to stay at the area to capture it, and the area become friendly area, enemy area, or "battle is going on here" area AUTOMATICALLY (no need to wait X seconds) based at the ratio of axies to allies there, this would lessen the problem.

With this form of capture you need to have alive players at the area that you want to capture, because even if the area became your team area 1 second ago, the enemy still have the chance to capture the area again after even 2 second, if soldiers from your team, die.
