Victory Conditions.

9 posts in this topic

Change the victory conditions for Axis to:

1. Axis holding France and the Low Countries, and

2. Either holding all British factories, or hold a port and buffering an airfield in Britain

Allied victory conditions would be capping the Axis factories.

No recoding required, no money spent by CRS.

Worth trying just once :)

SO basically what it used to be before the loud and vociferous complaints of needing new victory conditions that didn't involve near total map ownership.

Few issues with that

1) when you have all of france mashed down into that one last town, it's hell to try to cap that town
or play in that town during primetime.

2) Currently aside from the fact England is only marginally populated with strat objects
The mechanisms for getting there and doing an invasion, when the entire allied population is sitting there just waiting for you to try are very difficult to use.
We have no landing craft yet, the TT is slow and has no mechanism for taking more than 4 units across aside from infantry.
To land properly, you need to land far off from your objective and start offloading trucks and armor to get FMS set up near the objective
If you send 20 TT's out, maybe 1 or 2 will land, IF you can keep the 4 vehicles onboard interested long enough to make the ride.

TT really needs a mechanism to dock along the shore, DEPLOY itself as a limited capacity mobile spawn object, then spawn heavily throttled vehicles to its cargo points
so it can offload (and it needs a crane boom extension of say 8 feet) the vehicles.

It also needs the ability to deploy offshore, and be able to offload vehicles into landing craft for fast assaults, which means the landing craft has to be modeled in such a way as it's hold area presents itself as a valid surface for a vehicle to sit on (rather than vanish through it into the ocean)

That lets you try both a direct and indirect invasion.

TT could also probably use an ahistorical speed boost so that it is only a little slower than a DD as a game play concession.

Then, after you have a more fleshed out england, you might have an idea.
But right now the game does not well support forcing that for victory

I would be ok with capping England but only if you put the FB's that go across the channel back.

Or without fb's.. If the Americans can only be put into the game when axis own the main land and they have to fight the way across in boats.

I think the best would be after the entire of France is capture the campaign would end in 3 days.

This would leave some room to attack England but prevent a long stagnant campaign if any side could not attack england or recapture france.

Interesting idea, but don't think it would ever work.

First, it is very hard to push allies completely off the mainland.

Second, it is nearly impossible to invade england. (maybe done once since truck MS?)

Maybe, once the mainland was axis, if new rules were invoked, there might be a small chance at an invasion:

Every frontline england town would be auto AOd at all times.

All AWS, EWS would be disabled on map.

Any AF on the mainland would become not frontline so axis could move LW/FJ in (Calais etc.)

This might allow axis to sneak something by somewhere along the coast and start a fight.

We used to have fbs to England they took them out so now it is almost impossible and now with the current cap timers we will never be able to invade England its a lost cause.
