Fix truck coasting for more realism.

4 posts in this topic

The rolling distances for truck is very unrealistic and very gamey.

Based on http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/crstp.html#c2 and https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/rolling-friction-resistance-d_1303.html, the following distances are fairly realistic:  For a truck traveling 50 km/h on level road the stopping distance with no brakes is 490m; on level medium hard soil it is 164m.  Note that is is much, much shorter than what is currently in game.

The Rats really need to update the truck physics to be more realistic and stop the gamey tactic of rolling long distances cross country.

This is western Europe. There is no "hard soil". Western Europe is farmland if it's not a forest, waterway or a road, building site or other infrastructure.

Not only should the coasting distance on soft farm-field loam be very minimal, but the Drag Factor for that surface type should be MUCH greater than at present.

A truck or wheeled AFV traveling at road speeds across farm fields? Grossly unrealistic. They might as well be able to fly.

this. things like these break the suspension of disbelief and open the door to very odd gameplay.
