Wondering why we love to play this game and often want to come back from other games. What kind of successful achievements can leave us a great sensation when logging off?

Your answer will be right if you can say:

« If during my game session I succeeded with [incert poll answer here], it made my day and I won’t care about the rest »

Vote your top-1 above ; list your top-3 bellow.

Here is mine:

1. Community interaction

2. Defense

3. Side advantage support

If you think about other suggestions of answers to list, please submit!

1. is community

Then the other 3 are as follows but not necessarily in that order.

2.Area Stronghold

3.Spawn Assault

4.Enemy Unit killing. Which kinda goes with 1 and 2 :)

I like killing the enemy and actually seeing that happen.  VDM for all units are key to my staifaction.  Nothing better than seeing a tank brew or an airplane explode in air in a ball of flames.  Which is eactly why I dont like that ATGs and AAAs don't have a VDM, and why I don't like blind killing via dropping bombs without being able to see the targets and, most of the time, mortars.  I enjoy blowing up bridges and fire bases.  I also enjoy, to a limted extent, bombing factories.

Not necessarily, since you can be in a situation where you make kills in a random PvP fight (think about air and naval units or during interdictions), or reversely you can enjoy having succeeded and assault/defense but not caring about the role you have endorced.

thanks all for your participation !

I'm happy if I finish my gaming session with the feeling that I helped my side as best I could.

I am happiest when I have contributed to my sides successful attack or defence in any meaningful way. Cutting spawns, locating EMS, or even better stopping the enemy even getting an ems up!

Brewing tanks with a scout car or a truck is especially satisfying. Marking enemy and then seeing your fellow soldiers working towards and then successfully killing/suppressing them is all part of the games most successful mechanics.

Lets PROMOTE what's great about the game!

So many great ways to play! That's the beauty of this game, the wide variety of game-play, and it all comes together! Each of us in our own way contributes to something larger than ourselves, this game is the big league ;)

1. Community interaction

2. Side wide impacting actions

3. Area stronghold

S!

Thanks. Added scouting to friendly units support.

It seems to me that you are more sensitive to the community interaction, whatever task you endorse.

The fundamental question is how can we describe our game experience down to that level of analysis: *IF* we have to focus to one thing during a game session (as short as it could be), what would leave us a great sensation behind? We don’t all have 2 hours to play the game.

That’s the strength of shoebox games where you can jump in for 30min to get some personal satisfaction. IMO the proven strengths of wwiiol is community interaction, friendly support and side-wide actions. For the other parts (killing, assault, stronghold , capping towns) the « large scale » differentiation is what these segments of players are looking for. The new team is already actively working to improve all of these and a better gameplay modelisation can help focus efforts.

But if we also managed to offer more opportunities for « short quick satisfaction » game sessions (like FMS helped with), we could also reach that « other » population segment. Not throwing all forces into a RA concept though (which just focused on killing), just considering features on the live server while keeping a balance, and that may also fit with some new DLCs’ opportunities.

need more feedbacks and data to validate.

ATM. in the games current state.  I think all this would be window dressing.

The current gameplay is centred about CP capture/defence. Low pop sides don't have enough or are so JADED that they don't even bother guarding spawnables. Just imagine for a few seconds what a brand new player experiences as they have managed to spawn into a firefight (after5-10 minutes finding WHERE to spawn).

CP captures are easily abused by any side with a numbers advantage regardless of cap timers. If you have 10 enemy and a tank or two covering a spawn there is NO WAY an underpop side can get even near a cp to cap/defend it.

Any thoughts from the devs regarding area capture? Control the hill covering the AB? YES, you SHOULD be able to suppress it. Cut off the incoming armor taking the road from the fb (should be random placement) - great reduce the enemy armor in town.

At the moment numbers = EVERYTHING. It shouldn't be fait accompli that the higher pop side always wins.

@dropbear I personnally agree we should add more area capture of tactical places (church, defensive positions, factories, open market place...).

That being said, I think numbers actually matters only for those willing to perform attacking maneuvers as you must have a 3-to-1 ratio to succeed. As those focusing on side victory achievements. The other segments are probably less sensitive to that issue.

Not only do we need more attack objectives that don’t require a full army to succeed, but also the gameplay could be adapted to achieve that « local balance ». Even if your side is underpoped, if you don’t feel it on your objective then the problem is solved. See what I mean?

Yup agreed in most part...BUT only in a few of the big ww2 battles were numbers overwhelmingly bigger on one side. TACTICS, suppression etc had much more immediate and LASTING effects in battles. They didn't have to work with insta warps behind the lines, with silent atgs rolling through bushlines etc. They had REAL ppl with REAL eyes and ears OUT and IN the towns and fields, all actively communicating.

What do we have at the moment?

1.  Capturing towns.

If we cap something when I play, I consider that satisfactory.

I would have chosen both Initiating Attacking Maneuvers and Holding Defensive Positions. Personally, the pleasure of defending a position and breaking an attack wins over scouting and initiating offensive maneuvers but only just barely!

Another thing I love to do - spawn into the game with an <insert name of town here, but south of Marle > totally camped AB and all others cps captured. Very low infantry numbers and only Tier 0 armor left.

No HC on. Hear the rumblings of enemy armor rolling through towns...yup its gonna hit the fan!

A few brave soldiers holding out in the bunker - continually screaming for ammo.

Right..what do we do first?

I covered the bunker until being sapped in wide open areas because we had no players actually DOING anything. 5-6 inf in AB area making up numbers but not actively firing! I'd guess the other side has the same issues.

Decide to run ammo to the bunker..DON'T run through open ground - take cover through the buildings, then the final scary as [censored] dance to the bunker through enemy fire! Get the ammo to bu11 and his smoking LMG. Waste yet another bottle of french plonk on the barrel to cool it down.

Do it again, pistol to the head of an enemy in the building next to bunker door trying to camp it. Yes it took 4 FOUR shots before he dropped (PLEASE FIX THIS)

Ok bunker has ammo and a few more soldiers covering it that are NOT AFK.

What's next? Find that enemy tank that is smart and moving around in the city evading and killing our armor?

Get a truck out of the West Army base and get a fms set for the East army base? Draw one of the bored defenders out by rolling around the AB  and shoot him with your mate outside? Set then recap - great two spawn points!

Continue the recaps with more and more players REAL PEOPLE logging in and seeing the FIGHT IS ON!

..and finally the last cp is captured. I was part of this..there were many others, ALL WITH THEIR OWN STORIES.

THIS IS WHAT BRINGS US BACK EVERY DAY - NO OTHER GAME ON THE PLANET HAS THIS!

PROMOTE IT!

We come back regardless of all the bugs, the poor infantry code/animations, the collider issues, as its all FLUFF when you give the game a chance to shine.
