new AA ??

19 posts in this topic

Don't know if any are planned, it is not on the roadmap currently. After the roadmap is done I'm hoping we hear about the development of WW2OL 2.0, which isn't to say that BMBM might have a few tricks up his sleeve development wise but I would not hold your breath at the moment. I think good things are coming if we all sit tight a bit longer.

On a side note, I'd be happy with a simple MG mount on a truck, as early tier mobile AA.

Right now we are all in to get 1.36 out. I do know we have discussed other AAA options but nothing before 1.36 and completion of the roadmap for 2018

What good is a four barrel AAA, when the damage models are f_ _ket up?

Please, get the damage models in line with the ammo as priority one!

This guy knows the real problem. When you can hit a single seat fighter in the wing roots with a 40mm HE round and if flies off there is something wrong. Not to mention the hyper aerobatic bombers.

Been asking to have the flak30 made into the flak38 forever LOL.  Nothing gets answered about it.

All they have to do is up the rate of fire of the flak30 and you have the flak38. That's all. Change a freaking line of code.

The difference between the flak30 and flak38 is RoF, correct?  What RoF was the flak38? ….. Not the quad/flakvierling the single flak 38

Flak30 has a RoF of 120 rounds per minute. Flak38, which is the single barreled 20mm, has a RoF of 220 rounds per minute.

Is that a average with changing clips or as if it had a endless clip?

Rheinmetall then started an adaptation of the C/30 for Army use, producing the 2 cm Flak 30. Generally similar to the C/30, the main areas of development were the mount, which was fairly compact. Set-up could be accomplished by dropping the gun to the ground off its two-wheeled carriage and levelling with hand cranks. The result was a triangular base that allowed fire in all directions.

But the main problem with the design remained unsolved. The rate of fire of 120 RPM (rounds per minute) was not particularly fast for a weapon of this calibre. Rheinmetall[N 1] responded with the 2 cm Flak 38, which was otherwise similar but increased the rate of fire to 220 RPM and slightly lowered overall weight to 420 kg.

Flak 30 - 280 rpm cyclical, 120 rpm effective

Flak 38 - 450 rpm cyclical, 220 rpm effective

(cyclical means continuous fire as if belt-fed, effective means fastest rate of fire including magazine reload interval)

We'll get it in there. Can't say when but it's not being ignored.

I would totally be down for the Flak 38 being added for the Axis (was by far the most common light AA gun Germany fielded.) Then in the later tiers, the Germans get the 4 barreled Flakvierling and the Allies get the M45 Quadmount - the difference being rate of fire is slower with the 4 Flakvierling but with 20mm shells, whereas the M45 fires much faster but the individual hits from the .50s wouldn't be as damaging.

*** Then in the later tiers, the Germans get the 4 barreled Flakvierling

The Flak 38 was accepted into service in 1939.

The Flakverling and Sd Kfz 7/1 were both fielded in 1940.

All 3 should be tier 0 weapons.
