That is awesome.. mb some towed versions as well?

LOL biggles, I dream of the quad .50s. the M45 towed and on the GMC halftrack.  Could get a halftrack and a SPAA with that one.

The first US all-terrain-mobile SPAA concept for the Maxon quad .50 mount:

This design was created because more offroad mobility was desired than could be accomplished with towed or truck-mounted gun systems.

While the prototype was being built, analysis showed that the number of units to be built would be far greater than initially anticipated, and far greater than the number of light tanks available for conversion. Construction of new light tanks just to serve as SPAA platforms would not be economical. So, the halftrack-based designs were created.
