The new TOWNS added to the map.

Something I noticed. The placement of these new towns make them not out of the way. I foresee them being by passed.

Need in the TRAINING SERVER and OFFLINE play access to these towns. A brig from each nationality should be in each town or somehow access to these places.

Because they are only AXIS, the ALLIES cannot view what its like. So we are effectively banned from these areas. I for one would like to see it, but are NOT ALLOWED due

to distances, AO placements, lack of supplies, etc. etc.

You can spawn there in offline mode.. Just select your weapon, switch to map and select the spawn point and then spawn

The training server would be nice to, as squaddies can join for practice.

I was more interested in the training server. I am well aware that offline you can do most anything.

Well you did say "OFFLINE" in your post.. As for Training Server, I am sure if you ask @OHM he can setup that north side for a squad to play around up there.

I am still curious about something I myself never got to see in action during a campaign. The last terrain build I made before being thrown overboard with a liferaft and a canteen of water included a few new "ideas" with respect to town layout and contestable facilities. It never got put into a build, but I understand that Merlin51 changed that recently. I don't recall the towns this experiment was done in other than I *think* they are centered around the north-east area of the map, maybe 5 or 6 towns in from the factory edge up in that part of the world. The facilities are like little factory districts that can be captured, and often called "xxxxx Power Station" where "xxxx" is the name of the town they are in or nearby. They would show up in strat as a city facility, if that's how things still work these days. They were created to add a little pizzazz to existing towns and see if a more extended "combat" zone could be created especially seeing as towns made in the early days were tiny and didn't cover a lot of real estate.

Did these efforts ever get included in subsequent terrain updates since way back then ? I'm just curious if they turned out to be any good as far as improving small town fighting experiences where this was trialled ? The buildings central to these "power stations" would be the 3 level factory with the smokestacks and conveyor belt thing and of course the warehouse building with the ramps outside the entrances. Some other small buildings would be employed to create cull-de-sacs and laneways (giving it a maze like quality) where CQC might be fun. I can't be much more help than this, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about, I'm curious what you think. ;)

Been some good town additions imo.

Haven't fought in NW towns - so can't say, or SW, but all those new towns look interesting.

What I can say, is some towns are more fun to fight in, say Lier - with those extra buildings and facilities.

Gedinne, Eghezee, Hannut,  etc.

I personally like the mix of having both the old tight cities as well as the spread out ones. It takes a different approach to capture those cities.

Quite a few old towns have Power Stations - like Leuven and so on. And one of the favourite fighting areas (at least for some) is Maubeuge north side where there is a Depot, Maubeuge Prison and City Cp in a kind of a walled cluster - lots of fun CQC.

NorthEast  Edge - there's a Machine Works in Druten and both an Engine Plant and Autobody Works in Duisberg that are fun - though Duisberg has a fairly big urban town layout. Both Meckenheim and Remagen have a 'Power Plant' facility - which may be what you're speaking of - both good sets of buildings and towns to fight in. And of course Mendig has the famous 'Maxxim's Workshop & Cigar Club' plus an AF to fight over.

Log in one day DOC and we'll give you a custom opel tour - or maybe an escorted flyover. S!

@DOC
All of your long shelved terrain work, to best of my knowledge, went into the live game, in it's entirety, with only modification where
something you cant see in TE like a unity1.5 berm came in to bollox things up.
That included your one way paths and dead ends.
That went out in one of the very 1st terrain patches IIRC

You are alive, you can tell by the pain.
Annoying how that works
