so during a 2 AO period axis captures Feschaux

I got a near-minimum distance FMS to that town, how did that happen?

because the allies were having too much defending Schilde getting easy kills to respond early

then axis goes and attacks Kalmthout and captures that town too, with the retarded cap timers the last depot took several minutes

now we're attacking Consenvoye during a 1 AO period

you know what? right now we're down to 22 players spawned in on the ground with a single hero flying LW, and yet we're "soldiers needed" at Consenvoye

max capture timer penalty

limiting AOs isn't going to balance things it just makes the server stale, the allies are not attacking so they have low pop

the axis are attacking so they have higher pop

I don't know what other MMOs you guys play but you can't expect to be competitive in one when you don't do anything

not that it matters anyway because with town supply the map doesn't collapse anymore

at any rate the new "problem" isn't that TZ3 has 1 AO, but euro prime from what I can tell has 1 AO as well

so how are you going to distinguish a legitimate capture during euro prime from a "clubbing baby seals" capture during TZ3? they both occur during 1 AO periods?

Hmm, unlike others my critique of the above is on real estate isn't valuable.

 

I disagree, it's the exact opposite, because 'larger' multi-AB towns have more supply and many more links, they absolutely count more, whereas in ToEs any small town could swell up to host a division or more and push through or hold on different patterns.  Linking towns count too as they have flanking depots while being hard to hold until the majority of linking towns are friendly.  With ToEs it might be the centerpiece of attack or be an easily dismissed loss, now they ALWAYS count.

THREAD ALERT:  for some of us, in our parts of the world, the famous Liverpool Reds comeback happened in TZ3.  Coincidence? One thinks not.

I don't know what phase of the battle you personally experienced, but I can tell you I and a few other FMS hunters plus a lot of EXCELLENT ATG work on superior armor killed that Kalm attack, then an Axis team blew the FB, and Allies clearly didn't have any HC to switch the AO.

 

THAT is how we ended up in one town.

 

Player action DOES matter.

 

BTW I wouldn't have blown the Kalm FB- Cons would have been a LOT easier without all the Allies there.

PS all alone on axis discord yet again, though we finally got some guys on board and working together yesterday as TZ3 transitioned into TZ1 - there was even a brief spawn delay, cannot remember when I last saw that...

i was allied all night, david is right in the allies don't respond to ews or DO's or make FMS's for AO's

 

if you were on allied, you could have seen how obvious it was we were going to lose every battle, regardless of axis heros.

this is always a interesting FB Bust quandry - usually situational - but yes, sometimes blowing a fb on an enemy attack simply shifts the attacking players to a DO which can then bog down or fail. 

generally, however, given the predilection of both sides for defense or turtling, noticeably more over the last 2/3/4 years, blowing the FB on a DO is the cynic's way to get more of one's own side attacking.

Didn't read all this. But the game has always been about the side that best uses its pop to best effect wins.  Maybe not that exact camp, but good play attracts and good players get it done.  The supply, units etc is all window dressing.  Good play wins regardless

TZ3 was usually the best fights.  Some steamroll happens for sure. But usually its the result of weeks of pitched fights resulting in one side getting an advantage.  Then the roll happened.  Really if people just worry about what happens when they are playing its good.

Still can be good fights dcoy were the more coordinated aggressive side will win just like in other tzs
