Tried downloading full installer from ftp site but can't seem to get a file I can read... the wwiiol12221230.bin and update both unstuff with plain document icons and give an 'can't install noerr' error message.

just tested these 2 files without any problems the 12301231 file ends with a blank icon instead of the vise icon but it works

Hope this isn't too far off topic here, but since I've already derailed the thread anyway...

Back in teh day (prior to 1.19.x), I got 70-80 FPS consistently. After that, with every reported improvement in FPS by the Dev team related to a patch or download, mine has gone DOWN proportionately. I am now at 8-10 FPS using a card 'recommended' elsewhere in this forum and its latest driver. I can't imagine another patch which perpetuates this trend- the game is nigh unplayable now.

Anyone care to address this? I'm seriously frustrated here.

With tweaking I got my FPS back to 40+ this afternoon (GMT) then the latest patch and bingo, 20 or less FPS again.

This hurts. Superb game, totally addicted and kudos for Mac version, but what is going on with such low FPS on decent kit? Dual 2ghz Mac, 3gb ram, X800XT, 2mb broadband, OS 10.4.6

1) Screen has frozen a few times here. Force quit didnt work so I've had to reboot.

2) Stutters make flying next to impossible.

Yeah, its been trimmed though, the whole log wouldn't fit in a post. I'm averaging 3 CTD's an hour now. It might have something to do with Apple's latest security patch though - I was only getting CTD's about every hour before I installed it. LOL

spitfire, that rig is pretty close to the edge, does your 9600 have 64MB video ram? stutters are usually a sign of not quite enough ram or sometimes not enough video ram. Make sure with 1GB you have nothing running but the game and the finder.

I dont know if this helps - but im getting 2-8 fps in city fighting or in gunsite view in a tank with spikes up to 25fps. Bofors I get 4-30 fps depending on what I look at. Basically I play and die alot b/c of low fps -

Not much fun when you cant track the enemy. The normal fps for me is 10-15 on average off this machine. I get better performance of my 1.8 with 2gig ram and X800XT 256 card - I average 18-25 on that one, but in city fighting im down to 4-8fps. I dont have a lame machine - but this game is about to need much more than I can give. I waited for 128 vis limit, I want 128 - its what I need to compete and work with my squadies. Basically I have turned off alot of the fruhfruh to make the game look better and my Res is down..... What is it with the MAC? My squadies are getting 50+ fps tho some are complaining about 30fps and sometimes 20fps in hard fights!!!! I want to complain that I only get 30fps!!

Don't run the game on an intel mac under MacOSX. Its being emulated. Get BootCamp from the apple website, install windows, and run the game under that for now. Very fast. Soon we will have a universal binary version but no date yet.

Stankus, your 9600XT is a marginal video card these days. However, the low fps is still mostly a factor of some issues in 123 which are still being worked out. I have a dual2G5 with x800 and I bottom out at 9fps unstead of the previous 13. It's just the Mac OpenGL is not very good for games (Doom3 has the same issues) with the way the game was written. PC OpenGls are optimized by the video card manufactorers wheras Apple has a generic implementation and it stinks.

Some of the coming rewrites in 1.24 should rocket our performance up to much more reasonable levels (by changing how we use the Apple opengl) but 1.23.x still needs tweaking to fix the code that "became suboptimal!" :-) with all the inf changes.

You should also try turning off the Normal Maps setting (and then reading the config help sticky to see if you can get things a bit better in the short run).

New version time! Post bugs and crash logs here if you see problems.

[ :mad: Things were fine with my G5 Mac until this latest patch or update. I can't believe what's been going on. The first things are the freezeups. Everything is fine. Then the screen just freezes but the sound stays. Next....

I get this weird vision of enemy armor suddenly pointing itself directly into the ground and moving fast, then I get the freeze. If I tow anything, what I'm towing suddenly shoots ahead of me as if we're at the Indy 500; then it comes back into position. Here's one for the books...Airplanes that dive, STOP and back up at a weird angle.

This stuff is Twilight Zone...if there are bugs, can someone get management to FIX IT!!!!

What you see sounds like major packet loss. You might check your internet connection in Terminal with

traceroute playnet.com

Also, check the config app and try picking either primary or secondary instead of auto connection.

BTW you never want management to fix code ;-)

Turned off normal map and now towns are more playable - I got a boost to 15fps intown fights and 35-40 fps at times... even gunsite view I can achieve 20-25fps with occational dips down to 5-8 fps ... Thanks

BTW: This computer I get connection to host lost... then game quits. This started after last patch... My other computer its CTD with no warning.

I lost 3 DDs and 2 110s. 1 sapper to CTD in 2.5 hours of playing.

They still working on the CTHL error, it seems to be some combo of server - network - client environment and is really hard to pin down. It happens more on the PC however.

I'm still getting some serious lag spikes and CTD's ahwulf. I can't fly now and that's my thing in this game. I'm on 10.4.6 so it wasn't the new apple patch that's doing it.

I'm getting frustrated as hell with this game because it seems I'm constantly having to fiddle with something to get it to work.

As usual I can't remember what your rig is. Are the CTD's leaving a stack trace and is it the same everytime? I haven't been getting any CTDs at all on my x800/dual G5 even on 10.4.7. Have your checked your RAM, maybe you have a failing chip. This game will find anything wrong on your hardware.

I have the same rig as you except dual 2.7 and 2.5 gig of ram. Are you not getting lag spikes as well?

Tell me how you optimize your system, I run TechTool Pro 4.1.1 (after backing up the system disk - bootable copy in case something breaks) every two weeks and as of yesterday I'm running OnyX on the same schedule.

I don't seem to run into these problems with other apps, but then when flying one's control must be fairly precise so is it I just notice glitches more than some?

A "for instance": Last night I'm flying near Maastrich in a fw190 but even though it shows 30 plus fps I have trouble controling the plane because of what seems like packet loss type spikes that cause me to jerk about like somebody's pulling a string. I crashed trying to land.
