CTHL testers required

Same here.

One thing that might help on tracking down problem is:

When I freeze up, I can't do anything. I tried to chat just now, and it didnt reach the chat (Not on my end at least)

But, as soon as the freeze ends, and I get CTHL popup, I see that people have been chatting after I froze, so I have received text after the point that I started freezing.

Someone even said in chat:

Imhoteph, you are standing on the road, running, but not moving.

Exactly the same thing as I get.

I'm also getting the same thing. It seems like it's about 30 seconds to 1 min after I spawn. I did a tracert, like the support site said, on www.playnet.com and got the following:

Any idea why I keep timing out at Playnet.demarc.cogentco.com? Is this why I CTHL after spawning? Let me know if I can post anything else!

By the way, I wasn't getting any CTHL's until the most recent patch. Not sure what is different.

You can't get past that demarc point because that is where our firewall blocks your pings, for security reasons (doesn't effect game connections though).

Can you try this little program? It will see if you are having a problem connecting to our different servers or not.

Dunno if this is relevent, but I posted yesterday that I was having CTHL issues every 30 seconds after logging in.

By coincidence, I've just bought a new graphics card moving from an ATI 9800 to a Nvidea 6800. Logged into the game with the new card fitted earlier today and didn't have one CTHL in the 20 mins I had available to play.

Could the CTHL's be graphic card related?

I'm talking bollocks, just had a CTHL with the new card fitted. LOTS of people reporting CTHLs in game now too.

I've not played in a while, but when I logged in last night...guess what....

:-(

As a 56ker (who has ****ty net access too) I never blame it on the game, which has run stable for me for 4 years. Now I aint sure.

Well, I know this may be an extreme fix, but I just reformatted my pc and reinstalled Win XP, all my drivers, and WWIIOnline and the CTHL problem (knock on wood) appears to be gone. Also, it looks like I picked up about 20 more FPS as well after all that. Hopefully this helps!

Well maybe that is a way to fix problem. I could reformat, but I would have to buy a new operating system and I don't feel like spending more money on this. Also I have a dial up connection and it would take me 4 days continously downloading to download WWIIonline (300+MB). This solution just not practical for me.

Most of the CTHLs remaining are client side, caused by a long freeze which results in disconnection. If you're getting this, don't fret over your connection. It's not at fault. If you freeze for around 45s before the CTHL, try using chat after the CTHL dialog appears. If you can, please /report just got cthl, have not lost chat.

In any case, if you're still experiencing CTHLs:

a/ We're still working on this as priority #1.

b/ We need more info from you. We are not, at this time, able to reproduce the CTHLs like we have been with previous versions.

In asking for your system information, we are not looking for a way to blame your system, but we do need to know what systems are affected incase there is a common cause that we can track down and resolve.

See the Friday CTHL status update post for more details.

Small update from me, I've had CTHL happen to me every hour or two for a long time, but yesterday was the first day in a long time, I managed to play with no CTHL. It might be a coincidence, but so far so good. I will report back in this thread on how it is going today.

I was experiencing the 45 sec. freeze and still bulk-receive chat up until just as I got CTHL popup.

One thing I've noticed is that I will still get the occasional freeze of the game, but whatever change was made is now able to resume play whereas before I'd get the error. It "feels" close, though, like if it was frozen for a few more seconds it would be terminated.

The frequency of the freezes I'm getting seem to be proportional to the length of time I play.

I just had my first CTHL since 23.1

It occurred after almost exactly one hour of play.

At first vehicles started warping around, then everything froze and was like that for I don't know, 30 secs to a minute, then got:

"Lost chat connection. Reconnect failed: #00057"

"Lost chat connection. Reconnect failed: #00054"

And the "Connection to host lost" requester.

Chat was still working though, all channels it seems. Tried typing and got replies.

This is the abort.log

File version: 1, 23, 4, 255

Date and time: 5/28/2006 4:00:19

WWIIOL aborted via improper means

Also had this in my BE folder..

ww2net.log

Sun May 28 03:01:18 2006 network election of 2 addresses: 66.28.224.143:609ms. 209.144.109.143:563ms. Winner: 209.144.109.143

Got an RTB on the mission I was on as well...

No change in settings or drivers since my last support ticket, except that I've installed Catalyst 6.5.

Ok, well it appears that I only was able to spawn in and play that one time w/o a CTHL. I'm back to getting CTHLs about 30 seconds after I spawn in. The only things I've installed on my pc are Win XP, Nvidia Drivers, X-Fi drivers, and WWIIOnline. Any ideas what may be causing this yet? Thanks!

Ok, so I've been messing around w/ my pc to try to get the game not to CTHL and it looks like I've found the issue (on my pc at least). I'd recently changed sound cards in my pc from an Audigy 2zs to a X-Fi Platinum. After the switch, WWIIOnline was working fine up until when the latest patch came out. So what I did today was pull the X-fi card and put the Audigy card back into the pc and now I no longer get CTHLs when playing. Any ideas what may be causing this? I'd really like to be able to put the other card back in the pc. Also, I noticed that playing BF2 w/ the X-fi card, it was extremely laggy, and w/ the Audigy card it's just fine. No idea what's going on! Thanks!
