CTHL Victims!

slatz, there are people who use a 9200, but they get very poor performance. I believe you will be able to get the game to load by updating your video driver. Yours is about 3 years old. Go to http://support.ati.com

The driver you need is on that page under "Most Popular Topics". It's "2. Catalyst 6.5 Windows XP - Driver Download". Download and install that driver. There is a good chance it will fix the loading problem you're having.

OK, had an entire afternoon of CTHL-free gaming using the secondary network. Computer was running very hot too due to the weather.

Hooray for the secondary network!

richza, do you happen to have the nforce 4 chipset which has two network controllers on it? One is the nforce and the other is the Marvell. I had trouble when using the nforce network controller (which you're using now) with frequent disconnects. However, using the marvell I haven't had any issues.

You can try switching over and see if it resolves your issues as well. If you don't have a dual-network motherboard then make sure you're running the latest nvidia nforce network driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp32_amd_6.70.html

Okay, I just wanted to explore that option, just in case. However, I wouldn't worry about using that onboard network as I do know that some players use it without problems. I'd suggest dealing with CRS on this, as they want to compile a list of players still having CTHL issues. See the oroginal post in this thread: http://forums.battlegroundeurope.com/showthread.php?t=115273

Fill out a ticket with both your netcheck info and your wwiierror.log (in your Battleground Europe folder after a crash).

Rich, looks like you may need to reset your connection - you're seeing packet loss (although it may just be a router dropping ping messages explicitly) in your ISPs network (hop 2 and 3) - always a bad sign.

Secondly, make sure you remove the QoS service, and make sure you don't have the nForce firewall installed - I have an AN8 Ultra and until I disabled the firewall it was causing me no end of weird issues. Make sure you have the latest, board-specific, nForce drivers too, helped me a lot.

Lastly - the Audigy should be up to taking the 3D sound load off your CPU for you, but you have 3D sound disabled.

Gnasche is probably gonna kick my butt for saying only the first 2 DxDiag sections because we miss the driver numbers ;)

UPDATE FOR MSGPLUS USERS

Having looked at data from a number of you reporting CTHLs, it appears that some of our changes in 1.23 are conflicting with the spyware installed on your system (AVP) by MsgPlus. If you installed MsgPlus, please read this article.

We do not intend to resolve spyware compatability issues with our product.

Have not been able to play more than 5 mins since 2 patches ago. before i was able to play for 2 hours before cthl.

I am using dialup connection, speed is 44.4 most of the time. Using a Smart Link 56k voice modem.

Visable limit is on low

No file sharing programs are running period

cthl on both primary and secondary servers

lastly this is kind of a bigger pain for me, since I am in HC. I have not been able to lead my troops for over a week! I cant post/attach my netcheck or dxdiag because they are too big, if there is somewhere I can send them plz let me know!

The chipset drivers and onboard ethernet drivers need updating.

Here are the driver downloads for your motherboard: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=683&kind=1

Get the "Realtek 10/100 LAN Drivers" and the "VIA Chipset 4in1 Drivers".

The drivers you currently have installed for your network card are about 5 years old, and the chipset drivers are the default microsoft drivers. Your audio drivers are very new so you don't need to install the ones from the webpage, although the version posted is slightly newer than what you have installed currently.

I reset my RWIN to a much higher value.

Noticed on the new netcheck app., the 'large bit' pings were high..., like 1000 to 2000ms.

Once or twice, i've seen it hang to 5-6000ms. on the secondary network..., yikes!

--on 56k dialup at 44k btw.

So here's the math for the new RWIN value:

44k X 5000ms = 220000bytes BDP (Bandwidth x Delay = Product).

A close RWIN value i got using 1460 MSS as the base multiplier is 256960bytes RWIN,

(MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

Upshot is, no cthl so far....

Go to this site,

http://www.speedguide.net/index.php

Try the 'ip analyzer' link to find your current RWIN value.

D/L their 'optimizer' utility to change the rwin..., registry tweak.

Well I have had 5 cthl's tonight and never ever experienced them before today. First time I was using auto for the connection choice and cthl'ed thrice within 45 seconds of spawning in and moving. Then a few good hours passed and I got another cthl so I switched to secondary (209) and cthl'ed again upon 40ish seconds of respawning.

Connection: cable

Player Visibilty: High

Server choice: auto then tried secondary

I do not run any internet accelerators

I get CTHL error all the time after the latest series of patches. The game freezes for 45 seconds, then says "Connection to Host Lost" at which point I can se other running around the battlefield and chat with others etc. I click on dialog and game is minimized and I have to restart. Haven't yet switched to "primary" or "secondary" servers but will try that.

I also had the VOIP issue another mentioned, although not every time I get CTHL.

i didnt have many at all before this campaign, not the latest patch particularly, the campaign.

im on a streak of 4 out of 4. the weird bit is, it only happens in empty towns, i spawn in on to do an fb bust, joggin in. within a few seconds im gone. The same happened on the training server, which was also an empty town, had approx 9 on the spin in there.

earlier today, same session, i had quiet a few troublefree sorties in busy towns.....weird.

when i initially freeze TS goes too, which is the only app in the background, then it works once the CTHL is complete.

A. Connection 2mb ADSL via Linksys wireless router

B. both networks had same result, altho usually play with auto.

C. No accelerator

D. high vis limit.
