new pc 10fps

102 posts in this topic

I got new pc some weeks ago.

After I finally resolved some soundissues, my PC now clearly underperforms fps-wise.

I got latest drivers of everything.

AMD X2 4200+

ASUS 7900GTX

SB xfi

2 gig ram

10-13 FPS at best. (=unplayable and worse than my 4 year old rig)

In offline mode I get about 20-30.

Turning off sound gives only minor improvement.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Post your config file also.

Your monitor driver is the generic windows Plug and Play. It is defaulting to 60hz for a refresh rate. Change the refresh rate to something higher.

You show TWO sound cards, one is your onboard. May be a conflict. Last years SB driver. May or may not be a problem. Your motherboard drivers look out of date. Did you reinstall them when you installed SP2? If not it is needed. Gnasche knows more.

Had the same issue. Use Drivercleaner to get rid of old video drivers and reinstall them solved it for me.

I have almost the same specs.

Are you by any chance using the beta drivers from Nvidia? Using those makes the game a powerpoint presentation. I would recommend the certified drivers only for this title.

Thanks all for the replies!

1. Installed the recommended amd-mobo-drivers from nvidia gnasche. Are these the ones I should use for my mobo? It didn't help for WWIIOL but in general should I use these?

2. Removed 7900-drivers with xp hardware manager "tool" (not with drivercleaner) and this seems to have done the trick. Have average 100 fps offline with peaks to 80-125. Is this normal with this kind of rig scalman? Will put kids to bed and try online asap ;-)

I included my new dxdiag. Please have a look and review. I think I have all proper drivers now but could be mistaking.

Thanks again all!

ps nice art in your sig indo.

I'm not sure that motherboard driver installed. However, here is the link to Acer's drivers for it: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/aspire_e360.html

Get the chipset driver. Also get the Realtek audio driver, if you're using that for anything. If you're not, you may want to disable it in the BIOS.

Lastly, make sure you have the soundcard you're using selected in WWII Online settings, rather than "primary sound driver".

sry i cant read your log, only on trial

i have the same problems...get 10 fps in a town where nobody really nobody is around. when i watch to the ground it goes up to 70-90 and for the sky similar but when i look just normal only 8-12 fps on average most of the time.

What software did you use to clean the old driver and what nvidia driver did you install ? or did you only uninstall the 7900-driver with winxp

Yes just with winxp.

But theres a driver-remover-program suggestion higher in this thread.

Your monitor is still using the generic plug n play driver that defaults to 60hz for refresh. Display/settings/advanced/monitor set the refresh higher. You need to post your Config file from ww2ol. Betting you have NOLOCKTOREFRESH unchecked and have not check the box in the vidcard program to "allow the application to control vertical syncing". You will get higher FPS with this turned off. In game hit the Y key twice to turn off the minimap. This is a FPS drain.

I just put refresh rate in display settings to 75 (max in picklist).

I had nolocktorefresh checked. Is that ok? (i thought it was)

The vidcard-program is "nvidia settings". I can't find the "allow the application to control vertical syncing" box.

Is there a better alternative to the generic monitor driver?

I couldn't load the config-file like that so zipped it first although it's but 2kb

That's the MS windows chipset driver right?

I did install the ones from your previous reply though (nvidia for amd).

Yeah, the ones I linked to first should be the best ones. Don't worry about the ones I linked last. I compared your dxdiag to my own (which has the same chipset) and it appears they are just different, which is why they're using different drivers for some things. Just my suggestion about the Acer-specific drivers...although I doubt they'll hurt...I just don't know if they'll improve anything.

Your wwiiol.cfg looks good. You can enable water shaders and reflections if you want...your video card can handle it.

Tried the latest nvidia drivers as well 84.56 and 2-3 tweaked drivers..i have in town in many situation really only 8-12 fps and thats really not enough to play sometimes.

I just wonder, since i got almost half a year ago on average 20-25 fps in huge battles :(

I will reinstall my whole winxp if i have time and hope that this will fix it, otherwise i cant and dont want to play with such low framerates.

That's what I was going to do if i hadn't an alternative.

Indeed the game is unplayable at 10 fps.

Have you tried latest VIA-chipset drivers for the mobo?

Have you tried the effect on FPS in offline mode?

Have you tried the effect on FPS of playing with no sound (just to test)?

I don't know what framerates are "normal" with a 6600GT though.

Tonight I had 3-9 fps again.

This time re-installing the nvidia drivers didn't help.

Game ran well yesterday.

I'm doing a complete winxp re-install tomorrow.

One moment it works, the next it don't. :-/

after reinstalling audio drivers and video drivers i had 5-12 fps only, many times under 10 fps and that on the same system 5 months ago but with really not that problems. i did a fresh clean of my registry, everything what you do, defragment etc..didnt solve the problem.

i guess i need really resinstall winxp

Now that the Nvidia 9.x series drivers are WHQL certified, that is one hurdle out of the way.

I have an AMD FX-60, 2 Gb memory, nforce4 x16 chipset, dual 7900GTX (using single mode for WWIIOL).

For apples to apples comparison, the results are in offline mode, 1600x1200x32, in the baracks at the spawn point, as english rifle, not moving from spawn point after game has loaded (hands off keyboard/mouse):

84.21 WHQL drivers - 65+ FPS

84.41 (non WHQL) - 70+ FPS

91.31 WHQL - 10 FPS (exact - does not vary)

91.33 (non WHQL) - 11 FPS (exact - does not vary)

This is a clean install with DriverCleaner, reboots, etc.. There is definitely something up with the 91.x drivers with this title. Performance is stellar with other titles.

After more experimenting, the issue seems to be squarely related to trees. As long as the trees are out of the picture (not hidden by a wall between you and the tree I mean - not rendered at all, such as looking at a spot that doesn't have any trees at all or the sky), no problem and 100FPS+ with the 91.33 drivers.

One tree in the scene brings the FPS down to single digits by one order of magnitude. Why? Fill rate problem? What is different from the 84.x drivers from the 91.x drivers?

Meanwhile, it's back to the 84.x series drivers for me.
